Captive Mate BL
Chapter 567: + - 567+
CHAPTER 567: +CHAPTER 567+
Rosie practically skipped from the car to the entrance of FluxCorp, her red, curly hair was in a ponytail, her heels clicking as she stepped into the lobby.
There had been so much going on in the few days since her boss and Mafia King cut their honeymoon short that there hadn’t been the chance to resume their routine.
She had missed this so much, this was how things were supposed to be, the two of them handling things while she happily tagged along.
Despite not coming in to work, she had been keeping an eye on things, the other secretaries easily keeping things running in her temporary absence.
All around her were familiar faces as she returned the receptionist’s friendly wave and headed right for the elevator. Rosie scanned the pad in her hand as the elevator rose up, checking her boss’ schedule for the day.
Functions had been cancelled ever since she was attacked at one; talking about that, she needed to tell Davian about it, so much had been going on that she had forgotten to.
There was a function later that afternoon, but right then, they should be at the company. With the brightest smile on her face, Rosie waltzed right into her boss’ office to see a familiar face groveling on the ground.
She paused at the door with wide eyes, taking a step back. "I’ll uh... check on the secretaries."
The dark look on Lake’s face completely fell off at the sight of her, "Rosie! You’re here earlier than I expected."
Rosie lingered in the doorway. The middle-aged Alpha on the ground had been the one to throw the function at which she had nearly been assassinated. He was a pretty powerful person in Haines, and she couldn’t help but be curious about what would have him crawling on his knees.
She decided then that there was no need to rat him out; he looked completely wretched, and she had already forgotten all about the function.
"Mafia King Nikolai came back pretty early, so there was no reason to keep staying at the mansion," She explained shortly.
"Do you want to go grab us drinks?" Lake offered, his smile fond.
Rosie’s pale eyes sparkled at that, walking across the room to take the black card her boss offered her. "I’ll get you both your usual," She tossed to them over her shoulder, completely forgetting about her plans to check up on the assistant secretaries.
Lake’s smile faded completely when Rosie’s vibrant hair went out of sight, refocusing on the Alpha on his knees, pleading for leniency.
"I believe I’ve been incredibly generous, Holst," He said coldly, "Your inability to do anything right is the sole reason you’re alive." He said dismissively, reaching for his ringing phone. "You’re welcome to appeal to my husband instead," He advised generously, picking up the phone.
Holst chanced a glance at Mafia King Davian and hastily looked away. The Omega was actually the reason he was still alive; if Mafia King Davian had solely been in charge of his judgement, he would have been dead a long time ago.
But being alive wasn’t any better, the Omega Mafia King Davian had mated had completely destroyed everything he had, everyone else involved had quickly cut ties with him, and it was clear that he was going to be the scapegoat, because although the identities of the collaborators weren’t hidden, they had escaped unscathed.
He would actually prefer death to completely losing everything, his place in high society, his investments, his entire estate. In just a few days, the hateful low class Omega had completely ruined his life.
Davian was standing right behind Lake’s chair, gray eyes piercing. Unless it involved Lake’s safety, he didn’t involve himself in the running of the Mafia House unless Lake asked.
He had already dealt with the stalker, keeping that completely from Lake. Considering how upset Lake had gotten about the incident at the function, it was best he did.
"I have prior engagements Mr Holst," Lake said flatly, completely running out of patience. "You’re welcome to take the initiative to leave or I’ll have you removed from the premises."
It didn’t matter that Lake’s ’prior engagements’ were the drinks that Rosie had gone to get and lunch, they both took precedence over the irritant on his knees in front of his desk.
Holst didn’t wait to be told twice, Mafia King Davian hadn’t said a single word since he stepped into the room, despite the fact that he had addressed the Mafia King first.
He was no better than a bodyguard, standing behind the low class Omega that had come out of the blue, tied the Mafia King down with a child and then somehow wrapped him around his finger.
If Holst didn’t see it for himself, he wouldn’t believe it. He didn’t know how the low class Omega had managed it, but he had to have done something to his Mafia King for things to turn out this way.
He cast one last look at the Omega who was already on another call, his expression twisted with hatred, trudging out.
Davian didn’t miss the look, fingers digging into the upholstery of Lake’s chair.
Lake just patted his husband’s hand, aware of everything. Killing off Holst was far too merciful, the privileged Alpha was about to quickly learn how low life could kick him.
He didn’t care if they called and saw him as a low class Omega who had slept his way into Davian’s life, but getting his secretary involved in that was their first and last mistake.
"If he does something else, you can kill him if you like." He said indulgently.
Davian easily agreed, pulling up a chair next to his mate. "What do you want to eat for lunch?"
"Spiced fudge," Lake was quick to reply, greed in his honey eyes.
Davian bit down on the inside of his cheek; that one was on him for asking his mate what he wanted to eat when he had a new obsession. "Try again."
Lake pouted, the gold headband in his hair catching the light. "Spicy seafood platter?"
Davian relented, it was a much better option than just dessert for lunch. "We’re eating at Caspian’s for dinner," He made sure to tag on, his mate’s best friend was the only one who could get his mate to have a variety in his meals.
