CHAPTER 598: +CHAPTER 598+

"Caspian is coming over," Jael informed the other two Mafia Kings.

The door to the club opened then, Asher’s features mostly hidden by blood now. "Caspian?" He repeated, frowning - the first proper expression on his face in a while.

Jael held his breath, waiting to see how Asher would take it. For a moment, when he said Caspian’s name, he looked and sounded like himself again.

"Where is..." Asher trailed off, still frowning. "...the next club?" He asked instead, focus coming back into his eyes.

Jael couldn’t say if he was relieved or not by that reaction. While there was a chance that Caspian could snap Asher out of what was wrong with him, there was a far higher chance that Caspian would be put in danger instead - he really wanted to avoid that.

"I’ll drive you there." He offered again.

Davian and Nikolai just quietly followed, letting him handle things as he saw fit. They would only intervene when things completely spiralled out of control because, honestly, they didn’t have much of a solution either.

Jael called up Caspian’s bodyguards to have them change destination, assigning more men to tail them. If he could help it, he would prefer that Caspian show up before they did, because he didn’t think that Asher could take on another thirty - fifty thugs.

He glanced at the passenger’s seat, Asher was calm, his breaths even, but the overexertion had started to take its toll. Even if he single-handedly cleared out the clubs himself, the chances of lasting damage were high.

They didn’t get lucky though, Asher already running for the doors of a club like a wild animal released into a cage full of prey.

"Yeah, no one is getting him out of there until he’s done." Nikolai muttered when they all stepped out of their cars and took their spots right in front of the doors.

Jael didn’t say anything to that, his attention fixed on the road where Caspian would make an appearance any time soon.

He really didn’t have an explanation to give the Omega about his mate, he didn’t have an explanation for anyone, so he would just tell Caspian exactly what happened, word for word.

It didn’t take long for Caspian to show up, the Omega hurrying over with a pink hairband in his pale blonde hair, blue eyes dark with worry. "Where’s Asher?"

It was relieving to see the three of them looking completely unharmed, but the absence of his mate was hard to ignore.

Jael just gave him a rundown, excluding nothing, not the absence of Gage, nor the fact that Asher was burning himself to the ground by keeping this up. It was like a switch had been flipped, nothing getting through to him.

Caspian hid his fear behind a scowl, marching forward to bang on the glass doors. He knew that he couldn’t get in until Asher was done or until the Alpha came out himself, but he needed to express his frustration in some way.

No one stopped him, and just as Caspian dropped his hand to hold the bruised fist with his free hand, Asher made an appearance on the other side of the door.

It was so sudden that it startled Caspian for a moment, but he quickly got over it, not about to lose the chance to get Asher’s attention. He opened the door and snagged his mate’s bloody coat, dragging him out the doors.

The three bystanders watched in disbelief as Asher let himself be pulled around, Jael immediately gesturing to the men around to deal with the thugs who were already coming out in pursuit.

"What are you doing trying to handle everything yourself?" Caspian demanded when they were a safe distance from the club.

Blood smeared his white top when he crossed his arms, but he didn’t notice. "What if you got hurt?" He kept berating a stunned Asher, stamping his foot from how strongly he felt about the situation.

Asher just stared at him like he was the only thing in his vision, not looking like he was hearing a single word Caspian was saying.

"Caspian," He murmured like he was remembering something important, taking a slow step forward.

Caspian huffed, "Don’t try to butter me up, you’re sleeping in the bathroom tonight-" His words were cut off by Asher closing the distance between them.

"Mate," The Alpha sighed out, right before dropping his dead weight on him.

"Asher!" Caspian called out in a panic, trying to catch him even though there was no chance of that.

Fortunately, Jael was only a short distance away, swooping in to stop the dead-to-the-world Mafia King from crushing his mate under him.

Caspian’s outfit was now white, blue, and red, blood staining his cheek and getting on his hair, but he still clung to Asher, eyes liquid with fear.

"What’s wrong with him?" He asked with trepidation.

Davian and Nikolai immediately came over, silently offering to help hold Asher up.

Nikolai took one look at him and narrowed his eyes. "The fucker is asleep."

"What?"

"What?"

Caspian and Jael had similar reactions. Jael had been about to go bring a car over so they could drive him to a hospital.

Asher’s head slumped on Nikolai’s shoulder as he said that, and as it went quiet, it was easy to hear the younger Alpha lightly snoring.

Nikolai really looked like he wanted to kick him to the ground, but he fought off the urge, holding Asher up easily with Davian by his arms while Caspian stepped forward to cradle his head.

Davian looked like he was holding back a smile, stuffing Asher in the backseat of the car Jael drove up. "Maybe have him looked over after he wakes up." He said to Jael.

Caspian got into the backseat with his mate, which was pretty impressive considering that the knocked-out Alpha was practically drenched in blood.

"We’ll finish up things over here," Nikolai muttered, scowling down at his bloody hands

"Thanks," Jael replied, his expression conveying more than his words did, driving off.

Despite Nikolai’s words, there was little they needed to do, they simply just stood like they had done all day while Asher’s men rounded up the rest of the thugs.

When the only thing left to do was clean up, they got back in their car, uninterested in seeing more of the carnage for themself.

Well, it was more like Davian was more interested in his mate than he was in the sights and Nikolai got into the car with him.
