CHAPTER 288: TALK WITH JULIANA/ EMERGENCY BOARD MEETING

Megan continues to watch the office descend into frenzy as people start to get irritated as they are forced to stay in, even though working hours have passed.

With so many employees working in this company, it’s taking the police some time to interrogate everyone.

Darren was a rich man with a lot of influence and connections, and his brutal murder has put a lot of pressure on the police.

The police are already having a hard time trying to locate the ritual serial killer, and now they have another high-profile murder case on their hand, while their forces have been spread too thin.

Megan then notices a beautiful woman in uniform walking towards her office.

Seeing the familiar face, a smile appears on Megan’s face.

The woman pushes open her office door and walks in. Megan smiles and gets close to her.

"Juliana, it’s so nice to meet you again," Megan greets Juliana with a smile and hugs her.

Juliana is surprised by Megan’s warmth, as she still doesn’t understand how Megan can be so kind to her, knowing that they have the same lover.

Juliana is observant enough to know that Megan is Amon’s foremost lover, the one Amon values over all his other women, so it’s surprising to see Amon’s main lover be warm to his other lovers.

If Juliana were in Megan’s place, she wouldn’t know how she would react to her lover’s other lovers.

But she has to admit, she feels a certain warmth from Megan that makes her feel good, and she can’t help but see Megan in a positive light.

She wonders if Megan has the same effect on Amon’s other lovers, or is it just her?

"Come, sit down." Megan grabs Juliana’s hand and guides her towards a chair before sitting down herself.

"So you are here to question me about the CEO, right?" Megan asks.

"Yes, about that. We checked the CCTV cameras in the parking lot and saw that you had an altercation with Mr. Clifford, and things seemed to have gotten a little physical. Can I know what happened?" Juliana asks.

"Well, that old pervert wanted to fuck me and went out of his ways to make things harder for me. So when I fought back and told him that I won’t tolerate his bullying, he confronted me in the parking lot.

He tried to get physical with me, so I slapped him and drove out of there. I was not going to waste my time entertaining that disgusting pervert," Megan says.

Hearing Megan’s story, Juliana felt disgust towards Darren as well. How could that old fucking bastard lay his hands on her lover’s lover? Glad he is dead.

But Juliana didn’t say her feelings out loud. As a police officer, she cannot bring her emotions into her investigation.

"After you left, Mr. Clifford was confronted by a man wearing a motorcycle helmet. Things escalated from there, and Mr. Clifford was brutally stabbed by this man multiple times.

Do you know anything about this man?" Juliana asks and shows Megan a picture of the confrontation between Darren and the motorcycle helmet-wearing man.

As Megan looked at the picture, she immediately recognized the man.

"I don’t personally know him, but I have seen him stalking me. He has been following me around for a few days," Megan says, giving the pictures back to Juliana.

"Wait, this man was stalking you and you didn’t file a complaint to the police?" Juliana asks, surprised.

"As a police officer, you know how these things go. Even if I filed a complaint, you people won’t be able to do anything because this man has not done anything yet, so I didn’t bother with it.

Plus, I can take care of myself. You saw how I handled things with Mr. Clifford, and if things do go out of my control, I know that darling will be there to protect me," Megan says with a smile.

She has blind faith in Amon, and she knows that Amon would never let any harm fall upon her.

Hearing her, Juliana nods her head. She understands why Megan feels like this. She has only been with Amon for a single day, but he managed to make her feel safer and protected than she has ever felt in her whole life.

"Can you tell me anything else about this man?" Juliana asks.

"Nothing that I recall. I only started noticing him a few days ago. He would usually stand outside my office and follow me while I drove back home, but that’s it. He never went out of his way to communicate with me, or anything," Megan says.

"Thank you for your time," Juliana says, and gets up.

"No need to thank me. We are a family, and we should always take care of each other," Megan says.

Words like this from a person whom you just met once would feel weird or creepy, but hearing these words made Juliana feel more warmth towards Megan. She started seeing a sister in Megan that she never had.

"I will update you on this when we catch this stalker of yours," Juliana says.

"I trust you," Megan replies and hugs Juliana once again. This time, Juliana hugs back with a smile.

"I should leave now. Things are very hectic at the station," Juliana says.

"Take care and don’t overwork yourself. And if you need anything from me, don’t hesitate for a second," Megan says, smiling. Juliana smiles back and leaves.

This stressful day got a little lighter as she now has a friend whom she feels she can trust with her life.

Juliana walks back to her partner and fills him in on everything she learned.

"We should let them go. There is nothing more here," Juliana says.

"We should. Their patience seems to be running out," her partner says, and they let the office workers leave.

Seeing that they are free to leave, Megan starts packing her things so that she can return home when the door of her office is once again opened and Shera walks in.

"Hey, there is an emergency board meeting upstairs, and they are asking for you," Shera says.

"Me? Why?" Megan asks, surprised.

"I don’t know, but you should go there quickly. Most of the board members are already there, waiting for you," Shera says.

"Fine, let’s go," Megan says and joins Shera as she leads her to the upstairs meeting room.

Megan enters the meeting room and sees a bunch of old men and a few old women sitting around a very long table.

As soon as Megan walks in, all eyes immediately fall on her.

The old men in the room can’t take their eyes off her, as she is the most beautiful woman they have ever seen in their lives.

They begin to understand why Darren got obsessed with her and tried to get physical with her.

As the members of the board, they have already seen the CCTV footage of the incident and are aware of what transpired in the parking lot.

While the old men are drooling over Megan, the few women in the room look at Megan with pride. They saw how Megan dealt with Darren and have women who have experienced such behavior from men in their past, so they couldn’t help but relate to it through Megan.

They, of course, couldn’t resist those men and fell victim to them, but seeing Megan do what they couldn’t, their view on her became extremely positive. They wished they had acted the same way Megan did in their past.

"Mrs. Tylor, please take a seat," one of the old men says, pointing at the empty seat that belonged to Darren.

Megan looks around confused, but does as she is asked. She sits down and looks at the room full of board members, whose eyes are all fixed on her.

"Please call me just Megan?" Megan says. She doesn’t want to be called by her husband’s last name ever.

"Alright, Miss. Megan, it is," the old man says with a smile.

"What is this about?" Megan asks.

"Well, it has come to our attention that Mr. Clifford was abusing his powers to harass you, Miss. Megan," the old man says.

"Yes, he was," Megan says.

"We also recently found out that he tried to assault you in the parking area, to which we feel deeply ashamed that such a person was representing our company as the CEO," The old man says.

"I am not bothered by it much. Pigs like him don’t scare me," Megan says, her tone chilly.

Every old man in the room felt a chill run down their spine hearing her words. They all saw how Megan handled the situation with Darren, and they know that if they tried anything like that with Megan, they too would face the same repercussions.

The women in the room smile, hearing Megan’s words. They are liking this lady more and more every passing second.

"I still don’t understand why I am here? Is this about me slapping him?" Megan asks.

"No, No, No, Miss Megan, you did nothing wrong. You just defended yourself as it’s your right," the old man says.

"As you are already aware, Mr. Clifford was killed after you left the scene, and we now do not have a CEO at hand," the old man says.

"And?" Megan says.

"And, we would like you to be the next CEO of our company," the old man says.

Hearing him, Megan’s surprised.

"We have gone through all your performance reports throughout the years, and your results are exceptional.

And we know you are a strong woman who has the skills, determination, and character to take this company to new heights.

What do you say? Miss. Megan, are you willing to take the lead of this company as its new CEO?" The old man asks
