CHAPTER 389: NO LONGER TOGETHER

Calvin makes sure his dumb son understands his new role very well. He might be the son of Calvin Richard, heir to his billion dollar fortune, but he will still be Amon’s servant.

Someone who will be at Amon’s beck and call, doing any and everything Amon orders him to do.

Zane can’t believe the things his father is making him do. He knew his father wanted to curry favors from Amon, earn his acknowledgement. He just didn’t expect his father would go as far enough to hand over his own wife to Amon and then become his servant.

Just how influential and powerful is Amon to make his father so submissive. No matter how powerful Amon is, his father shouldn’t be acting like this? What’s wrong with him.

Sure, Amon is a prince, but monarchies are no longer a thing. He might have influence, money, and power, but that doesn’t mean he has control over the entire world, right?

Zane knew that the only way his father will let him leave is if he agrees with his father.

"Fine! I will do as you say," Zane says, frustrated. "No, you will do what his majesty says. You will hold his words on a higher pedestal than mine," Calvin warns him.

Zane thinks his father has gone insane, and he is not stupid enough to argue with an insane man.

"Fine!" He says and leaves.

Watching his son storm off, Calvin feels a headache. With how dumb his son is, he just hopes that Zane doesn’t rub Amon the wrong way and ruin everything.

Calvin even thought about telling Zane why he is doing all this and Amon’s identity, but then he stops himself. His son is an idiot, and if he slips up with this information before someone else, his son might as well as bid goodbye to his life.

’I will let the idiot be in darkness,’ Calvin thinks and makes his way to his room.

Calvin arrives before his bedroom and stops. Kaily is in there right now. He knocks. Before he wouldn’t have bothered knocking, but now it’s different.

The woman inside, is no longer his wife. She belongs to Amon.

"Come in," He hears Kaily’s voice. Calvin steps in and sees Kaily sitting in front of the mirror, dressed up beautifully.

For some reason she looks even more stunning than ever. It’s as if she has become more beautiful overnight.

’Maybe it’s because she is finally happy,’ Calvin thinks. He knew exactly while Kaily married him, it was for his money, but that never made her feel true happiness.

But he saw the look on her face today, one of content and bliss, something he had never seen before. Amon managed to bring out something in Kaily that he had never seen before.

"You did well, thank you," Calvin says as he meets her eyes through her reflection in the mirror.

"Your welcome... Now that we are no longer husband and wife? What will you do?" Kaily asks as she turns to face him.

"That is true, you and I are no longer husband and wife, but we will continue to keep the front up before the public, unless his majesty says otherwise," Calvin says.

"So why not just get a divorce?" Kaily asks.

"Because his majesty didn’t tell us to do so. A good servant is someone who doesn’t do things that his master has not told him to do. I will divorce you only when his majesty orders me to," Calvin says.

Kaily looks at him for a few seconds before turning back to face the mirror.

"Now that I belong to his majesty, I won’t be sharing the same bed with you," Kaily says.

"It is given. You don’t have to worry. You can continue to sleep here. I will take a different room," Calvin says.

"So, this is the end of our relationship, huh?" Kaily says.

"It is... I did what I needed to do," Calvin says.

"I understand, and I am very happy you chose to do so. If not, I would have never known what true love feels like," Kaily says.

Calvin hears her words and picks up how fanatic she sounds saying those words. One night was all it took for his majesty to turn his ex-wife into an obsessed lover.

"The outcome wouldn’t have changed even if I had denied handing you over to his majesty. Men like him, they take what they want. He wanted you, so I gave you to him to earn his favor. That was the only option in my arsenal," Calvin says.

Kaily shudders hearing his words. After all she is attracted to power. And what Calvin said just shows how powerful Amon really is. She feels blessed to have become Amon’s lover.

She can’t wait for Amon to summon her again so he can do as he please with her.

"That’s true... I think we are done here, aren’t we, Mr. Calvin Richards?" Kaily says.

"Yes we are, Miss Kaily," Calvin says and leaves.

If they were still married, Kaily would have called him honey or darling, but now she can’t even bring herself to associate those words to Calvin, just the thought of it makes her feel as if she is betraying Amon, and she doesn’t want to do that.

As Calvin leaves, closing the door behind him, Kaily looks at herself in the mirror and smiles.

She feels and looks so much more beautiful and she noticed it right away. As someone who is beautiful and wants to be beautiful for as long as possible, she can see the changes on her face.

Her skin looks smoother, it’s glistening, some of the fine lines that had started to appear on her skin are no longer present as if they never excited before.

Kaily feels blessed, she believes it’s a gift from his majesty.

Zane feels conflicted with the recent development. He still can’t wrap his head around the fact that his step mother now belongs to Amon.

When his father married Kaily, Zane was surprised. He knew who Kaily was before his father even married her.

She was constantly showcased in beauty magazines and always ranked in the top 20 of the most beautiful women’s list.

Zane knew this because he had a huge crush on her, so he felt very conflicted when his father married her. In fact, he is still sexually attracted to Kaily, but he never dared to express his feelings or show them, fearing his father’s wrath.

He has seen how possessive his father was of Kaily, anyone who looked at her the wrong way were as good as dead.

And now the same man handed over his prized possession of a wife to Amon and let him do with her as he pleases. It didn’t make sense at all.

Even Kaily seems to be on board. He heard her words. How she willingly submitted to Amon while he had her on his lap, groping and touching her.

’Why is father doing this. Just how powerful is that man?’ Zane asks himself.

Amon said he was a prince, but he also said that it’s just a title and he doesn’t hold any power. ’Was it a lie? I should look more into him...’ Zane thinks and makes his way to his room.

He stops before his door and takes a deep breath. He knocks on the door.

"Come in," He hears his beloved’s beautiful voice, which brings a smile to his face.

He walks in and sees Lia dressed up and ready to leave.

"Are you leaving already?" Zane asks.

"Yes, I have classes to attend," Lia says.

"Then let me drop you off," Zane says.

"No need, I will go by myself," Lia says in a monotone voice and walks past Zane.

Zane looks confused. He can see that Lia is acting distant. She is much colder than usual.

"Did anything happen? Are you okay?" Zane asks, worried.

"I am fine Zane, I just need to leave," Lia says.

"Then let me at least drop you off to your house," Zane insist.

"No, I am going to call a cab," Lia says and orders a cab as she heads down.

Zane is now even more confused.

"Did I do something?" Zane chases after her, but he gets no answers.

As they arrive before the main entrance, Zane blocks her path. "I won’t let you leave unless you tell me what’s going on," He declares, blocking her from exiting.

"Please move or I am going to shout... Look, my cab is already here," Lia says pointing outside as a cab drives in.

She then pushes past him and heads to the cab. "Lia, stop! Please tell me what did I do wrong?" Zane asks panicked.

Lia gets inside the cab and closes the door.

"Zane, it’s over. I am breaking up with you. I no longer want to see you ever again," she says and signals the cab driver to move.

Zane stands frozen as he hears those words come out of her mouth.

Before he can even process them, the cab has already left.

"LIA! WAIT!" He tries to give chase but the cab’s already far away.

Zane slows down until he finally stops from exhaustion. With hands on his knees, he looks at the disappearing figure of the car. His face filled with confusion, sadness, and anger.

He doesn’t know why Lia suddenly broke up with him, but is is not someone who is going to let this slide.

He will get to the root cause and find out why Lia suddenly dumped him.
