Dan didn't know if he could believe the words that came out of Amon's mouth, but then again, why would Amon lie?

Plus, the man already figured out everything about him before he even came here to do his job, so Amon must have done his own background check and found out about his wife's affair with his brother.

And it did make sense in a way.

He was rarely ever home, so his wife must feel very lonely at times, and since his brother lives right next door, they talk a lot and are very close.

He has seen it with his own eyes. He just thought that they were close because they were family, not because they were fucking each other behind his back.

It also made sense how she always defended him if he and his brother got into a fight and vice versa.

During the little amount of time he's home, his wife always showers him with care and attention, which, for some reason, felt a little forced, but he always dismissed it, thinking that he is a bad husband for doubting his wife, who is always so kind and understanding with him.

Every time he missed their anniversary or their son's birthday, she never made a ruckus out of it; instead, she always portrayed herself as understanding, which made Dan feel as if he were the luckiest man alive.

Little did he know that his wife, who always portrayed herself as understanding and kind, only did so because she really didn't care if he was there for her and her son or not, because she's fucking his brother.

While he is out here risking his life, kidnapping, and murdering important people for money, his wife is out there being a cheating slut, and that too with his brother.

No wonder he never doubted her; his son looks exactly like him, but also looks just like his brother, too.

Amon smiles, seeing Dan have a mental breakdown after he revealed to Dan the truth about his life.

"Dan, why don't you go back home? I am sure the rest of the guys here can take me to Danial," Amon says with a sympathetic tone again.

Dan looks up at Amon, confused, while Amon just gives him a reassuring smile.

"What do you say, boys? I am sure you can manage this one night without your leader, right?" Amon asks, looking at the rest of the men behind him. Dan also turns his head to look at them.

The rest of the men get nervous and immediately start nodding their heads. They are terrified of Amon by now, so they wouldn't dare go against his wishes.

"Dan, you should go and check what your wife is doing right now. I am sure you informed her you won't be home tonight, so she might use this chance to be with her lover, don't you think?" Amon suggests.

His words make the fire of fury inside Dan blaze. He nods his head and leaves without saying a word.

Seeing Dan leave in a hurry, Amon laughs before looking at the rest of the men who were here to kidnap him.

"What are you guys waiting for? Let's go," Amon says as they all head out and get inside their cars.

Amon takes the back seat of one of the cars all by himself like a king, forcing the other goons to pack themselves inside the other cars.

"Alright, let's go. Can't wait to meet this Danial guy," Amon says, smiling.

The man who is driving the car, Amon, is sitting in sees Amon smiling in the mirror's reflection and feels a chill run down his spine.

He knows for a fact that his client messed with someone he shouldn't have, and because of that, he and his fellow comrades have gotten themselves mixed up in an unwanted situation.

They are just members of a private organization that very rich people hire to do their dirty work. And they know very well what kind of world they are entering by doing such a job, but this time it feels very different.

There is a sense of heaviness and dread in the air that none of them has ever felt before.

So, their best option right now is to keep their mouths shut and do as Amon says. They might be working for Danial, but right now, they value their lives more than the money promised to them.

Forty-five minutes later, Dan silently rolls down the street of his neighborhood in his car. He doesn't want to alert anyone with the sound of his car's engine.

Amon's words still continue to ring in his ears.

The closer he gets to his house, the more nervous he gets. Hoping that what Amon told him is false. His wife really is a caring, loyal wife, and their son is actually his son.

He hopes that his wife is not cheating on him with his own brother. And his son is his own.

Dan hits the brakes as his car finally arrives in front of his apartment building. He turns his car off and pulls the parking brake, and sits there nervously.

He doesn't have the strength to go in and see what's happening because he doesn't want what Amon said to him to come true.

After sitting in his car for ten minutes, pondering on whether he should just drive away or head up to his apartment and check on his wife, he finally makes his decision.

Dan opens his car's door and steps out before entering his apartment building.

Every step he takes his slow and filled with hesitation, but he continues to move forward.

His apartment is on the very top floor, and the elevator in his apartment is under maintenance, so he has to take the stairs.

But with his current state of mind, he prefers the stairs as he can take all the time he wants.

Another five minutes later, he is finally on the top floor. He turns his head to look at his brother's apartment, which is on the other end of the floor. His apartment is in the opposite direction.

With slow, hesitant steps, he walks towards his apartment.

He arrives before the door. The door's locked. Which is not unusual, as he always tells his wife to lock the door from the inside so no stranger can get in.

He takes out his own key and unlocks the door, and pushes it open. The light from the moon enters his apartment and lights up the living room.

Everything looks like, everything feels fine; he doesn't hear any suspicious sounds coming from anywhere, and a slight sense of relief washes over him.

'Maybe he lied just to fuck with me,' Dan thought, thinking about Amon's words, but deep down, he still felt something was wrong.

He slowly makes his way towards his bedroom. He hopes to see his wife sleeping in their bed, all alone...

He arrives before his bedroom... He sees that the door of his bedroom is shut. His heart starts beating faster. 'Why is the door shut?' He thinks as he takes another hesitant step towards it.

He grabs the door and realizes that the door's not locked, just shut. Still nervous, he pushes open the door. The door makes a creaking noise, which makes him cringe with nervousness as he doesn't want to alert anyone if they are inside.

But as the door opens fully, he finds his bed empty. His wife's not here, and nor is his brother.

'Is she in the bathroom?' He wonders and slowly walks towards the bathroom and checks it. The bathroom is empty as well.

'She's not here,' Dan thinks, and begins to panic as Amon's words are weighing down on his shoulder even harder.

Dan steps out of his bedroom with a beating heart. Sweat starts seeping out of his forehead as he looks at his son's room. 'Is John here?' he wonders. He begins taking hesitant steps towards his son's room.

He grabs his son's room door and pushes it open, and walks in. He finds his son sleeping on his small bed. All his limbs are spread wide apart while his blanket is on the floor.

Dan smiles a little, seeing his son sleeping like this, but the thought of him not being his son creeps in once again. He bites his lips in frustration and looks around. He finds his son's comb near the dresser.

There are a few strands of his son's hair; he picks them, finds a bag, and puts them in it before putting the blanket on top of John again and then leaves.

He searches the entire apartment, but his wife is nowhere to be found.

'That means...' He thinks. There is only one possible explanation.

He walks out of his apartment and locks the door behind him. His eyes, which have now lost their light, stare in the direction of his brother's apartment.

'Please don't be there! Please don't be there!' Dan thinks. He would rather his wife cheated on him with some stranger than his own brother, because it's going to hurt like hell.

With slow steps, he walks towards his brother's apartment. The walk feels extremely long because Dan makes it extremely long. He doesn't want this to be true.

Even right now, he is thinking about leaving so that he doesn't have to confront the truth, but he also can't stop now that he already knows his wife is up to no good, because why would she not be at their apartment this late at night?
