At the end of the day, dinner lasted a couple of hours.

Now, we're both completely stuffed, lying flat on our backs like two overinflated balloons, bellies round and swollen. Our limbs are sprawled out like dead starfish, and every breath comes with a little groan of satisfaction.

Ahhh… food coma…

I can barely move. Even twitching my tail feels like too much effort. All I can do is lie here and think…

And for some reason, my brain decides to wander into weirdly funny territory.

First of all, thank the gods for catgirl genetics! Our bodies can digest food way, waaay faster than normal humans.

If we didn't have that trait? With the sheer amount of meat and pie we just devoured?

Yeah. It'd probably take days just to break it all down and absorb all the nutrients.

But the best part? Funny enough, our digestive systems are so efficient… we barely even have to poop!

Now, imagine if we had to poop like… three kilograms a day? From one dinner?! That'd be a total nightmare! My cute little ass would be destroyed!

It all makes sense now, haha.

I guess that's why we don't really need fiber from vegetables. In fact, too much fiber actually hurts us. It messes up our streamlined catgirl digestion system, clogging things up instead of helping.

Still…

I can't help but wonder… where the heck is all this food, all this nutrient going?

For Eris, it's obvious. Every bite she eats seems to turn directly into lean, rock-solid muscle. Her powerful thighs, her toned abs, her sculpted arms… it's like her body knows exactly where to send the fuel.

But me?

I eat just as much.

And yet…

My body doesn't change at all!

No extra height!

No thicker thighs!

No bigger arms, no gains, and definitely no bigger boobs!

Huhu…

I look down at my flat chest, offended.

HELLO?! Universe?! I'm putting in the calories! The protein! The amino acids!

Where are the results?!

What happened to "calories in, calories out?!"

What happened to first law of thermodynamic?!

This is blasphemy! This defies all known laws of biology!

It's a scam! A conspiracy!

So I turn to Eris, still holding her hand gently in mine.

"Hey, Eris?" I whisper, giving her hand a little squeeze.

"Yeah?" she replies softly, her voice already heavy with sleep as she turns her head toward me. Her eyes are barely open, lashes fluttering like she's one breath away from dozing off.

"I've been wondering… how come I'm not gaining any weight? I mean, I'm not complaining. I'm glad I'm not getting fat, but still… I'm not gaining any muscle either. Even though I've been eating so much!"

"Mmmmmm…" Eris murmurs, brow furrowing just a little. I can't tell if she's actually thinking or just drifting into dreamland. "Maybe… all the nutrients are going to your brain?"

I blink.

"Ooooooooh! Right!"

Nyehehe. How could I forget? I'm smart!

That has to be it, right?

That would explain everything!

Brainpower needs fuel too!

"But still…" I mumble, poking my cheek. "There's no way my brain needs that much energy, right?"

Exactly!

Especially, when all I think about everyday now is just food, then sleep, then sex!

"Ahhh… then I dunno…" Eris mumbles, barely audible now. "G'night, Felicia…"

"Haizz…" I let out a deep sigh. "Well… I guess it's just this world's logic, huh?"

She doesn't respond. And I don't need her to.

Just ten seconds later, she's already out cold, snoring softly, her chest rising and falling in a calm, steady rhythm.

She looks so peaceful like this… so relaxed.

I lie there for a moment, watching her, feeling her warmth beside me.

And slowly, sleep begins to creep in.

My eyes grow heavy…

But then—

"Wait!" Eris suddenly shoots up, eyes snapping open like she just had an epiphany.

Her hair's a mess, her pillow's halfway falling off the bed, but her expression is glowing like she just unlocked the secrets of the universe.

"Felicia! You're right!" she gasps, grabbing my arm. "Why didn't I realize that sooner?!"

"Eh?! What?!" I blink at her in confusion, my ears twitching. "What do you mean? You were just asleep!"

"I was! But then—bam!—I realized something in my dream! It just clicked!"

"What?! What is it?!" I sit up instantly, wide awake now.

But Eris suddenly pauses… then smirks mischievously.

"Hmmmmm… nah," she flops back down, pulling the blanket over her shoulders. "It's late. I'll tell you tomorrow."

"WAIT, WHAT?! You have to tell me now!"

"Noooope~" she sings, shaking her head. "If I tell you now, you won't be able to sleep!"

"WHAAAAAT?!"

"You heard me! Just go to sleep, silly. We've got early training tomorrow, remember?"

"Urgh… fiiiine!" I huff, dramatically dropping back onto the bed like a defeated pancake.

Still, I don't give up right away. I shuffle closer, poke her cheek, nudge her with my elbow, even try brushing my tail across her face.

"Pleeease tell meee~"

But Eris, being the stubborn warrior goddess she is, doesn't budge.

Once she decides something, that's it. No amount of whining or bribery will crack her.

She just lets out a long yawn, pulls the blanket tighter around herself, and within seconds…

Snnnzzzzz…

She's already snoring again! Just like that. As if none of this ever happened.

Meanwhile, I lie there, tossing and turning, absolutely dying from curiosity.

What did she realize?!

Was it something about me?

But slowly…

The room grows quieter.

And once again, our catgirl genetics take over.

We're kind of ridiculously weak to sleep. Like… give us a warm blanket and a full belly, and we're out faster than a stun spell.

So eventually…

The soft rhythm of Eris's breathing…

The warm, heavy air of post-dinner bliss… they start to wear me down.

My eyelids grow heavy.

My arms and legs sink deeper into the bed.

My tail gives one last twitch… then flops flat.

And just like that, my thoughts blur into a soft, sleepy haze.

My body melts into the mattress.

And I drift off…

Into a sweet, warm, cozy little catgirl snooze.
