CHAPTER 621: HE JIAN MEETS HE MINGZHU (2)

He Jian was already confused when he saw a woman holding his father’s hand.

As much as he knew, his father had always loved only one woman in his whole life and that was his mother...the woman who left him.

It was something he had heard from his grandfather’s mouth when he was young. He was hiding outside the room while inside the room his grandfather was trying to convince his father to marry again.

He Jian was left shocked on seeing how his father was caring for the woman.

As he was trying to guess who the woman with his father was, he was surprised when the suddenly came to Mo Roulan’s side and looked at him with an aggrieved expression on her face.

As He Jian looked at her silently, she even put her hand on the headrest of his chair and shook it slightly indicating him to get up.

She wanted to sit beside Mo Roulan.

He Jian thought that he had heard a joke. But he didn’t know whether to laugh or get angry. Why would he let anyone else sit beside his Lanlan?

"Move your hand away."

He said to the woman coldly.

The woman flinched but a moment later, she pouted again and started to shake He Jian’s chair again.

Mo Roulan was scared when she saw it.

He Jian still had an injury on his back. When she was about to stop He Mingzhu, He Jian had already lost his patience and said sharply and coldly.

"Can’t you hear? Move away."

He Mingzhu was so scared this time that she immediately cowered away in a corner. She hid her face in her knees and her body trembled fiercely.

He Jian was again left confused by such a huge reaction.

Why was the woman behaving like this? He could see that she was around his father’s age then why was she behaving like a child?

He was more shocked when his father shouted at him and he could clearly sense the anger in his voice.

Then He Jian watched as his father walked to the woman, took her in his arms and whispered something in her ears. The woman stopped trembling and even raised her head. But as soon as she saw him, she hid her head again.

He Jian didn’t even know why he felt the sudden pain inside his chest.

"Dad..."

He called out but the woman started trembling again at his voice. At this. He Zhuang raised his head to look at his son sharply and said coldly

"Is that way to behave with your mother?"

"Mother..."

He Jian whispered on hearing his father’s words. Even the word itself sounded so foreign to him.

When did he have a mother?

Did she not ran away leaving him and his father?

His eyes went to the woman again who was in his father’s arms and he asked this time in a frigid cold voice.

"Is she that woman?"

From his voice itself, one could sense the hidden anger but He Zhuang warned his son with his cold and sharp gaze. But He Jian was also He Zhuang’s son.

He stood up from the chair abruptly. Mo Roulan supported him immediately.

"What is she doing here? Why is she back?"

He Jian asked his father sharply but his eyes were on the woman.

He could see how the woman had started to tremble more fiercely because of his loud voice. She was completely hidden in his father’s arms.

Why was she hiding again? Did she know only this thing?

Even after so many years, did she not have the courage to stand in front of him and at least say a ’sorry’ for leaving him when he was only a year old...when he didn’t even know anything about this world.

"You are scaring her, Jian!"

He Zhuang hissed sharply. He was trying to speak in a low voice since he knew that loud voice scared He Mingzhu. Perhaps because He Zhing always shouted on her.

He could only imagine what else she had gone through when she was in He Zhing’s captivity.

"Why do you care so much when she left you, Dad?"

He Jian asked completely confused and shocked. However, his eyes never moved away from the woman...as if he was expecting her to raise her head and say something in her defense.

She didn’t.

Even when He Zhuang ordered him coldly

"Go back to your room. Your food will be sent there."

She didn’t raise her head to look at him.

He Jian chuckled bitterly as if in disbelief before he left the dining room.

Mo Roulan followed him immediately.

It was then He Mingzhu raised her head and looked at his back. Her eyes were slightly red and her forehead was covered with sweat.

He Zhuang immediately took out his handkerchief and wiped her face gently. But he was forced to stop amidst his actions when he heard He Mingzhu say

"Jian..."

A single tear rolled down her eyes and her eyes were filled with so much pain that even He Zhuang found himself tearing up.

"Zhuzhu..."

He whispered in shock wondering if she was able to recognize their son.

But He Mingzhu didn’t say anything after that.

She went unconscious.

Mo Roulan closed the door carefully and saw He Jian leaning against the bed as he typed something on the laptop furiously.

She shook her head and walked to the bed. Snatching the laptop from his hands, she put it on the bedside table.

He Jian didn’t say anything but he was breathing heavily.

Mo Roulan sat down on the bed near him and looked at him silently. His head was lowered and she didn’t know what he was thinking but she said what she had wanted to say

"I don’t think that she left you, Jian."

He Jian stiffened when he heard Mo Roulan’s words. He raised his head a moment later and tried to say as calmly as he could.

"You don’t know Lanlan. She left me when I was only a year old."

"No, you don’t know everything. It was never her fault."

Mo Roulan reiterated herself.

He Jian frowned and wanted to say something but Mo Roulan spoke before him.

"The house where He Zhing had locked me...I found her there."

Mo Roulan felt panicked seeing how fast He Jian’s face went pale after she finished her words.

"No..."

He whispered with shock-filled eyes.

Mo Roulan held his hand and patted it gently. She could understand his shock or perhaps she couldn’t. All these years while he thought that He Mingzhu left him, he was now coming to know that she never did so.

Mo Roulan knew that He Jian was recovering but she also thought that him knowing many others things was necessary. After all, all of them needed to be careful around He Mingzhu. They couldn’t let her go deep into her trauma again.

"She has suffered... a lot. The doctor checked her body and she said that He Zhing might have ...raped her ...many times."

Mo Roulan found difficult to say all these words so she could only imagine how He Mingzhu went through all that.

"She is in a trauma...where she doesn’t remember anything. She considers herself as a child. She need a great care."

Mo Roulan stopped speaking and looked at He Jian with wide eyes.

His head were lowered but did she just saw a drop of tear falling on the bedsheet.

He ...was he crying?
