Checking in for 100,000 Years
Chapter 503: Van Dao Divine Dynasty, the Imperial Family’s Ancestor
CHAPTER 503: CHAPTER 503: VAN DAO DIVINE DYNASTY, THE IMPERIAL FAMILY’S ANCESTOR
Above the coastline of the Daluo Region.
The void suddenly rippled, and two figures emerged. It was Ye Yun and the black-clothed youth from the Yuan Mo Clan. However, Ye Yun’s appearance had already changed; he now wore the new guise he had adopted upon entering the Divine Land.
The black-clothed youth seemed completely oblivious to Ye Yun’s transformation. This was because Ye Yun had forcibly altered a small portion of the youth’s memories. This young man from the Yuan Mo Clan had no connection to the true mastermind, so his Primordial Spirit contained no safeguards, allowing Ye Yun to modify his memories at will.
"Senior, ahead is the Daluo Region, and our Netherworld Demon Territory lies to the southeast," the black-clothed youth said, rubbing his hands with a respectful smile.
Ye Yun nodded. The Netherworld Demon Territory was quite distant, but for Ye Yun, it posed no problem. He could easily tear through the void to reach it.
Upon returning to the Daluo Region, a peculiar emotion stirred within Ye Yun’s heart. He once again thought of his beloved—Liu Yiyi. However, this beautiful Sword Infatuation was currently in closed-door cultivation and could not possibly come out to see him.
I originally planned for our separation to last for at least several decades, or even a century, Ye Yun thought with a light, helpless, bitter smile. I didn’t expect to return after just over a month.
This time, upon emerging from the Ancient Road to Heaven, Ye Yun hadn’t gone to Skyreach Island. Instead, he had directly torn through the void, arriving near the Daluo Region’s coastline.
Gazing at the familiar terrain in the distance, a thought suddenly struck Ye Yun, and he recalled a certain individual: the King of All Paths Dragon.
This Emperor of the Van Dao Divine Dynasty, whose name contained the character ’Dragon,’ was deemed too arrogant by Ye Yun, who had previously taught him a harsh lesson. Consequently, the King of All Paths Dragon had changed his name to the Ten Thousand Paths God Emperor. At the time, Ye Yun’s intention was for this fellow to announce it to the world, gradually erasing the influence of the original King of All Paths Dragon from people’s hearts. Several months had passed since then. I wonder how well the Ten Thousand Paths God Emperor has carried out this task,
he mused.
Ye Yun tore open space once more, bringing the black-clothed youth to the vicinity of a city. This was a small city on the frontier of the Van Dao Divine Dynasty, with a population of just over ten million.
In the void, Ye Yun intercepted several cultivators heading towards the city.
"Fellow Daoist, may I ask if you are a cultivator of the Van Dao Divine Dynasty?" Ye Yun asked with a smile, politely cupping his hands.
Ye Yun didn’t immediately probe their memories because he felt it wasn’t right to casually invade others’ privacy. After all, he too was a transmigrator and understood the importance of privacy. Thus, under normal circumstances, Ye Yun wouldn’t readily resort to directly reading someone’s memories.
Among the few people he stopped, the one with the highest cultivation base was only at the Divine Monarch Realm First Level; the others were around the True God Realm Tenth Layer.
"Indeed. May I ask what guidance you have for me, Fellow Daoist?" the leading middle-aged man replied respectfully, clasping his fists.
Of the two people opposite him, one was at the Divine Monarch Realm third layer. The young man in white speaking to him was surprisingly at the Divine Monarch Realm fifth layer. Such high cultivation levels were naturally not something he, a mere Divine Monarch Realm First Level cultivator, could afford to provoke. It was better to be polite to save himself from any unnecessary misfortune.
The last time Ye Yun made a move in the Daluo Region, the cultivation base he revealed was at the Divine Monarch Realm fifth layer, so he maintained his cultivation at that level this time as well.
"Fellow Daoist, I have a question for you," Ye Yun said with a smile. "Is the current Emperor of the Van Dao Divine Dynasty the King of All Paths Dragon, or the Ten Thousand Paths God Emperor?"
Hearing this, the middle-aged man was taken aback for a moment, then burst into laughter. "Fellow Daoist," he chuckled, "the Emperor of our Van Dao Divine Dynasty has always been the King of All Paths Dragon. Where would this idea of a Ten Thousand Paths God Emperor come from?"
"Oh? Hasn’t the King of All Paths Dragon made any announcements to the world recently?" Ye Yun asked, a flicker of amusement in his eyes as a thought struck him.
"No, he hasn’t. Your question is rather odd, Fellow Daoist," the middle-aged man said, looking at Ye Yun with curiosity and a hint of confusion.
"Then, I thank you, Fellow Daoist," Ye Yun said, clasping his fists. He then turned and, with the black-clothed youth, tore through the void and departed.
"What a strange person!" the middle-aged man muttered, watching Ye Yun’s departing figure with a helpless sigh.
"Senior Brother, I think I know who that young man in white is!" one of the men beside him exclaimed, his face flushing red with excitement.
"You know who he is?" the middle-aged man asked, turning his head.
"If I’m not mistaken..." The man’s body trembled slightly with excitement as he continued, "He’s the mysterious White Clad Sword Cultivator who caused a stir throughout the Daluo Region! Rumor has it he might be a successor of the Sword Pavilion. He first killed Sect Master Wang Teng of the Overlord Sect and then, atop Jianyun Sect’s mountain peak, defeated that powerful Sword Cultivator at the Peak of the Divine Monarch Realm!"
"So, it was him!" The middle-aged man slapped his thigh, his face instantly filled with regret. To think such a powerful figure was right in front of me, and I didn’t even recognize him! What a terrible oversight!
"Senior Brother, none of us attended the Heaven-Worshipping Grand Ceremony of the Jianyun Sect, so naturally, we wouldn’t have seen this White Clad Sword Cultivator. There’s no need to blame yourself too much," the others beside him chimed in to console him.
The middle-aged man sighed, his expression gradually returning to normal.
「...」
Wanlong City, the Imperial City of the Van Dao Divine Dynasty.
The Royal Palace within the Imperial City, with its high walls and expansive courtyards, featured finely carved beams and painted columns that glittered with gold. It was protected by countless Formations and manned by numerous True God Realm royal guards stationed at every corner.
In the deepest part of the Royal Palace, however, lay a quiet, small courtyard. The courtyard was not large but was filled with lush plants, showcasing vibrant life.
A man in a yellow dragon robe knelt motionless beside a wooden hut. This man was the King of All Paths Dragon, the most powerful man in the entire Van Dao Divine Dynasty. Yet, for some reason, he was now kneeling silently beside the small wooden hut. It was as if the person inside the wooden hut held a status even higher than his own.
"You have been kneeling for months. Have you now realized the mistake you made?" an aged voice, tinged with anger, emanated from the wooden hut.
"Ancestor, your grandson was indeed at fault," the King of All Paths Dragon said in a low, dejected voice. "However, that White Clad Sword Cultivator is truly formidable. Although you are a great cultivator of the Divine Sovereign Realm, Your Revered Self has little lifespan remaining. Your grandson truly does not wish for you to take any risks."
Inside the wooden hut resided the most powerful ancestor of the Van Dao Divine Dynasty’s Imperial Family. This ancestor maintained a low profile and was unknown to the outside world. A hundred years ago, when his lifespan was nearing its end, he consumed ten Divine Dragons and employed a special secret technique to finally break through to the Divine Sovereign Realm. Although this extended his life, it damaged his foundation, and his remaining lifespan was now short.
The King of All Paths Dragon hoped this ancestor could live a few more years. There was no need for him to risk clashing with the powerful and mysterious White Clad Sword Cultivator over the matter of his own name change. When he had discussed this matter with the ancestor, the ancestor had been outraged and forced him to kneel here for several months straight.
The King of All Paths Dragon felt utterly helpless. The ancestor had a fiery temper and was extremely traditional at heart; he absolutely could not tolerate the idea of changing his title.
"King of All Paths Dragon, I didn’t expect to find you here," a soft voice suddenly drifted down from mid-air.
