Checking in for 100,000 Years
Chapter 75: Infiltrating the Canglan River, the Strangeness Begins to Appear
CHAPTER 75: CHAPTER 75: INFILTRATING THE CANGLAN RIVER, THE STRANGENESS BEGINS TO APPEAR
Ye Yun smiled gently. He walked down from the carriage mid-air to the edge of the lake, standing with his hands behind his back and quietly looking at the bottom of the lake. At the deepest part grew a Seven-Colored Golden Lotus, about three feet high, emitting astonishing spiritual energy fluctuations. Unfortunately, this Seven-Colored Golden Lotus still needed several more years to mature.
"Master..."
The young man followed, standing behind Ye Yun, somewhat timid and not daring to speak.
Ye Yun gently pointed a finger. The lake water rolled back, coiling up in mid-air. At this moment, it seemed as if time and space were reversing, which shocked everyone present.
Ye Yun took out a small bottle and poured out a light green droplet of water. He flicked it gently, and the droplet landed on the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus. Immediately, the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus began to grow rapidly, blossoming into a Seven-Color Lotus, its exotic fragrance overwhelming. Everyone felt as if their Souls had been cleansed, an extremely refreshing sensation.
Ye Yun reached out his hand again, and the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus instantly flew into his palm.
"Keep it safe; this Seven-Colored Golden Lotus has matured!"
Ye Yun smiled slightly, handing the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus to the young man beside him. The young man was instantly stupefied. This gentleman in white is too powerful! Using that mysterious green droplet, he managed to accelerate the maturation of the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus. Too shocking!
Ye Yun stood with his hands behind his back, gazing into the distance as if he had seen something. He turned around and smiled softly at the young man.
"Lead the way. Let’s go to the Canglan River to see your Clan Leader."
"Yes, Master!" the young man hurriedly nodded, flustered.
The three disciples of the Dragon God Sect had all returned to the interior of the carriage. Meanwhile, the one sitting at the front of the carriage, guiding them, was the young Five-Colored Dragon Carp.
Ye Yun sat in the carriage. Watching the distant scenery, he felt a mix of emotions. The lineage of Five-Colored Dragon Carp at the bottom of the Canglan River actually originated from the Dragon Lake of the Dragon God Sect. They are the descendants of some Five-Colored Dragon Carp from that lake. This is indeed an uncanny coincidence.
The Big Black Horse, under Ye Yun’s instruction, displayed terrifying speed. The journey of tens of thousands of miles took only about the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea.
The Canglan River was the largest river in the territory of the Shenfeng Dynasty, a hundred miles wide and unfathomably deep. The Ancient Sect Ruins where the Five-Colored Dragon Carp clan resided underwater were situated at the deepest part of a certain stretch of the Canglan River.
"Master, we are here!" the young man said cheerfully, pointing towards the roaring river water.
Ye Yun smiled, his gaze sweeping down into the depths of the water. After scanning the Ancient Sect Ruins, he raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips. "Well, let’s go down. Your Clan Leader is not doing well; he should take the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus as soon as possible."
The Big Black Horse plunged into the Canglan River with the carriage. A luminous barrier surrounded the carriage, preventing a single drop of water from penetrating. The young man greatly admired the Big Black Horse. In the blink of an eye, the carriage reached the riverbed.
An ancient ruin of an old Sect appeared before them. The Big Black Horse looked at it and merely smacked its lips, not uttering a word. The Big Black Cat, however, was quite alert, its nose twitching as if it had caught a whiff of something suspicious.
"Uncle Ma, there seems to be something odd about this place," the Big Black Cat stated vehemently, swaying from side to side.
"Watch your mouth! Stop spouting nonsense!" the Big Black Horse retorted grumpily.
The conversation between the horse and cat reached the young man’s ears, making his heart pound with fear.
These Ancient Relics, where they had resided for decades, were home to frequent bizarre occurrences. For instance, late at night, they would often witness battles between ancient Cultivators or see visions of Cultivators active within the Sect. Sometimes, while someone was meditating in a secret chamber, a ghostly figure might suddenly appear before their eyes.
However, the Clan Leader had once told everyone that these were residual consciousnesses of ancient Cultivators that clung to the Relic. They would manifest as illusory images at night. There’s no big deal about it. The Clan Members of the Five-Colored Dragon Carp had tried using their Divine Skills to attack them over the years, but to no effect, like striking at air. Over time, everyone got used to the strange occurrences.
"Who’s there?"
Seeing a black carriage suddenly descend from above, a giant Five-Colored Dragon Carp promptly darted out, blocking the way.
"Big brother, it’s me!" The young man hastily stood up from the carriage, waving towards the Five-Colored Dragon Carp.
"Oh, it’s you, Little Sixth! How did you get a carriage?" The Five-Colored Dragon Carp transformed, taking on the form of a young man.
When standing guard underwater, they normally reverted to their true forms. This allowed for free mobility and was also their most potent combat state.
"Clan Leader, how is he now? I’ve found the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus..." the young man said, holding up the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus.
The other young man sighed and opened a corner of the Formation on the Relic, urging, "The Clan Leader’s condition is worsening. Quickly, come in!"
The young man was startled. He hurriedly climbed off the carriage and flew swiftly inside. The Big Black Horse followed closely behind. As it moved, it scanned the surroundings. Its snout twitched non-stop, and its large, bell-like eyes flickered with tiny blue sparks of electricity.
Uncle Ma, what do you see? It’s a pity my cultivation base is far too weak; I still can’t see it... the Big Black Cat sighed to himself. He then suddenly remembered the incredible Divine Beasts stored in the Master’s warehouse and couldn’t help but feel extraordinarily envious once again. Seemingly stimulated, the Big Black Cat closed his eyes and began to assimilate the Mysterious energy the Master had injected into his body.
Beyond the ruins of the outermost layer, some well-preserved great halls remained within. Ye Yun stepped out of the carriage. He also wanted to check on the condition of the Clan Leader of the Five-Colored Dragon Carp. The young man led the way, with Ye Yun following. Occasionally, Ye Yun glanced around, a faint smile flickering in his eyes. This relic of an ancient Sect indeed holds some interest.
Upon entering a secret chamber, Ye Yun quickly noticed the Clan Leader of the Five-Colored Dragon Carp lying on the ground, barely breathing. The Clan Leader was in its true form as a Five-Colored Dragon Carp, its body over a dozen meters long. The scales on its body had lost their luster, turning a grayish white.
"Clan Leader, I’ve found the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus!"
Seeing the Clan Leader’s worsening condition, the young man rushed forward, knelt, and held the Seven-Colored Golden Lotus from his hand to the Clan Leader’s mouth.
The Seven-Colored Golden Lotus emitted an exotic scent, causing the Clan Leader, who was on the brink of death, to open his eyes. He took a sniff of its aroma, and his spirits lifted slightly. Suddenly, he glanced a few meters away and noticed the young man in white robes standing there.
Gazing at the strikingly familiar face, the Clan Leader of the Five-Colored Dragon Carp blinked rapidly and yelled at the young man, "Little Sixth, quickly retrieve the rectangular red wooden box from the next room!"
The young man didn’t quite understand but rushed to the next room and returned with a red wooden box.
"Quickly, open it!" the old Clan Leader’s voice trembled. At that moment, fueled by some unknown strength, his body shifted, and he transformed into an elderly man.
When the young man opened the box, he found an ancient painting. He glanced at it and was astonished. The person in the painting looked exactly like the white-robed gentleman standing beside him.
