CHAPTER 181: 177 PROTECTING THE CALVES, FIRST SHIFT
Until over four o’clock in the afternoon, Qin Xi, Qin Zhen, and their father Qin Shouren finally returned together to the courtyard residence.
Li Xianglu’s handmade noodles and stir-fried dishes had already been eaten by the grandfather and Mr. Xun, who had already left, leaving the two waiting in the living room.
As soon as the door sounded, Li Xianglu rushed over, and upon opening it, she saw her father-in-law and quickly exclaimed: "Dad, you’re here too, come on in."
Qin Shouren glanced at his daughter-in-law and asked: "You weren’t injured, were you?"
Li Xianglu shook her head and said: "No, I just got some blood on me, but I’ve washed it off. Dad, please come inside, I’ll go downstairs."
Qin Shouren nodded and entered with his younger son while Qin Xi went downstairs with Li Xianglu first.
The three had quite an amount of noodles, which had to be handled in two batches. Qin Xi heated the dishes on another stove and started discussing about the noon incident: "Just after you left, the Yu Family arrived."
Li Xianglu raised an eyebrow: "Does the Yu Family live nearby?"
Qin Xi shook his head and said: "No, they are on the west side of the city, at least twenty miles away from that hospital."
Li Xianglu frowned: "Was someone informing them?"
Qin Xi nodded and said: "The call reached Grandfather Yu’s house, and at that time, Aunt Yu Wei was also there, so they all came. What’s strange is how they knew about this hospital."
Li Xianglu also frowned and said: "Indeed, even if someone called to deliberately lure the Yu Family, they shouldn’t know which hospital we sent him to."
Seeing Qin Xi deep in thought, Li Xianglu couldn’t help asking: "Does this matter have anything to do with Qin Miao?"
Qin Xi did not respond, and carried the bubbling hot dishes downstairs.
After Li Xianglu scooped the noodles, she continued downstairs, and Qin Xi separately handled and brought the dishes inside.
Meanwhile, Li Xianglu brought in another two servings of noodles.
At this moment, Qin Shouren and Qin Zhen were devouring their noodles, while Qin Xi was speaking with grandfather.
Li Xianglu quickly made a bowl for Qin Xi, covered it with the dish, and asked him to come eat, then sat down next to grandfather: "Grandfather, Qin Xi told you, right? This matter is too strange."
Mr. Li shook his head and said: "What’s so strange about it? It’s a crude scheme. If it were me, I would have knocked Yu Wei out and injured him directly, then see how you all would explain. Could you have returned then? You’d be waiting to spend the night in custody."
Li Xianglu and the Qin Family trio all turned their heads in astonishment looking at grandfather, his approach was ruthless indeed. If Yu Wei was knocked unconscious and unaware of who hurt him, then even if Yu Wei woke up, Qin Zhen wouldn’t be able to clear himself, holding the tools of the crime. If there were false witnesses from the other side, the evidence would be overwhelming.
Qin Shouren finished his bowl of noodles, wiped his mouth, and said: "Yes, today we were lucky that the eldest and Xiangxiang went together, especially Xiangxiang, who even performed first aid. If it weren’t for your Yunnan medicine, even going to the hospital might have led to excessive blood loss. Such big wounds can’t stop bleeding on their own."
Li Xianglu chuckled: "Yes, it was also a coincidence."
Qin Zhen, having finished his bowl of noodles, suddenly felt energized and contentedly said: "Indeed, how come you brought so many things with you downtown? Ropes, towels, and even so much money."
At this moment, everyone looked over, and Li Xianglu chuckled dryly: "Hehe, it’s all just a coincidence."
However, that’s not the point, the important thing is how to resolve this next.
Mr. Li decisively made the decision: "Let’s leave this matter as it is for now. Since the police have already questioned and it’s unrelated to Qin Zhen, that’s all that matters. Other things can be put aside for now; I will handle them."
Li Xianglu widened her eyes: "Grandpa, how are you going to handle it?"
Li Huai Ren lifted his chin slightly, showing a protective demeanor: "This matter nearly hurt Xiangxiang. How can I not step in? I must teach the other party a lesson. Otherwise, they might really think there is no one in this world they should fear!"
Everyone nodded their heads, although they had no idea how Mr. Li would resolve it, they felt relieved.
Qin Shouren didn’t go back after finishing his meal; he stayed over.
In the evening, no one was very hungry, so they cooked some porridge, warmed some buns, prepared some pickled vegetables, and after dinner, everyone went back to their rooms. Qin Shouren had the early shift the next day and went to bed early. Qin Zhen was too shocked from the day’s events and lost all desire to watch TV, so he also went to bed.
Qin Xi accompanied Li Xianglu back to her room, the two of them lying side by side.
Li Xianglu played with the buttons on Qin Xi’s shirt, quietly lying in his arms without speaking.
While Qin Xi was overwhelmed with thoughts.
In his past life, it was a similar situation but the person who got hurt wasn’t Yu Wei but another boy. It was in the same setting, he wasn’t around, and his brother had lost his senses then, throwing the knife and carrying the person far off, but the person bled out and died by the time they reached the hospital, and the dagger was taken to the police department.
That family did not rush over as quickly as this time, probably because that deceased boy’s family did not have a telephone.
And his brother was rendered speechless; with the boy dead, no one could testify for him, his fingerprints were on the dagger, and everybody apprehended claimed they saw nothing, leaving no evidence that it wasn’t his brother who had done it.
But in this life, everything has changed. The incident happened a year earlier, the victim changed to Yu Wei, and with Li Xianglu’s intervention, the person who should have died ended up with only minor injuries, and his brother had favorable evidence, the victim’s statement being the biggest proof.
Thinking of this, Qin Xi sighed and hugged the person in his arms even tighter; her appearance had changed everything.
Li Xianglu had fallen asleep already, feeling someone’s embrace, she snuggled into the warm spot and found a comfortable position to sleep.
Qin Xi watched the sweetly sleeping girl in his arms, his lips curving slightly upwards. How could she carry so many things in her bag, Yunnan medicine aside, a rope? And so much money, normally a person wouldn’t carry that much money when going out, it would be understandable in the future, but now in the era of the banknote, two thousand yuan was a thick stack.
While it was strange, he felt grateful, and then there was Ah Ba, this guy was quite interesting, it seemed he had to go find him; this matter must be resolved quickly. Qin Miao was simply a ticking time bomb, he had guarded very strictly, yet she still found the opportunity to attack his brother, it seemed the lesson taught wasn’t enough.
On this side, Li Xianglu slept sweetly.
Her dreams began to change, she saw a newspaper, it was about a top leader’s sacrifice.
That top leader was originally inspecting the local area and then coincidentally encountered a typhoon. Everything was going smoothly until suddenly an accident occurred; a school on an island trapped several students and a female teacher.
Then the leader led people on rubber rafts to go there, but while others returned, that leader sacrificed himself.
ps: I am dying of sleepiness, staying up doesn’t seem to help, it’s uncomfortable, I am going out to do some beauty sleep and will continue writing vigorously in the afternoon.
