CHAPTER 29: 029 CONFRONTATION ONE

The two brothers exchanged a glance, nodded, and left.

At that moment, seven or eight men in uniform blue outfits entered the courtyard, led by a man in his forties with crescent-shaped eyes, smiling at the young men on the ground.

Standing nearby was a slender young man dressed in a faded white coat, his demeanor unusually cold and aloof. Qin Family’s Fatty’s eyes lit up upon seeing the young man, and he immediately began to wail, "Brother, ow, brother, I’m going to be beaten to death, my bones are broken, brother, why did you only come now? These people are going to kill us!" He then started to howl pitifully, much like a pig being slaughtered.

The aloof young man only glanced at the fatty on the ground and then turned back to the middle-aged man beside him, somewhat troubled, "Uncle He, my brother is a passionate and aspiring young man, who heard that someone was kidnapped and left a note at home before running out to rescue them. I didn’t expect Director Wang’s household to blatantly disregard the law and beat someone to such a state!"

The middle-aged man known as Uncle He slightly curved the corners of his mouth, looked at the corpulent body of the so-called passionate young man, which indeed belonged to the grandchild of the old chief. This kid was slick; covered in dirt, he was quite a mess, but clearly not seriously injured, yet he was the one howling the loudest among them.

The Wang Brothers also heard Uncle He’s name and the dialogue between the two men, their expressions slightly changing. Wang Aijun gave his brother a wink, and Wang Xiwang immediately showed an angry expression and approached the leading He Chongguang, "Old He, since you’re here, it’s just right. Take this bunch of bandits to the Armed Forces Department. These young fellows don’t learn good things and just storm into other people’s homes causing trouble; they need to be dealt with sternly!"

He Chongguang’s eyes slightly widened, a gleam flashed, and his lips curled into a smile as he shook his head, "Director Wang, look at what you have done. Even if the kids entered and an altercation happened, you can’t just beat people. Look, look what you’ve done to these children."

Hearing this, Wang Xiwang immediately became displeased and changed his expression, "Old He, what you’re saying... we were just defending ourselves. If we hadn’t acted, these lads would have barreled into our house and destroyed our belongings, even injuring our family."

Old He laughed heartily and pointed at Wang Xiwang, "Director Wang, not bad, you even know the law."

Seeing He Chongguang laughing, Wang Xiwang’s expression eased, but Wang Aijun seemed a bit uneasy; he quietly slipped away to the side and began whispering to a young man.

Qin Xi, who was standing next to He Chongguang, saw this scene clearly; his expression sharpening as he frowned and looked at Li Jianqing, who had just stood up.

All the young men were getting up, and Ma Sanjue also ran from back to the front, and whispered to them, "I had just left the production team and saw a truck coming in with a group of people on it, so I followed it... and then I saw Qin Xiaopang’s brother coming down from it, so I hurried over to relay the message." After saying this, he looked excitedly at Qin Family’s Fatty, "Hey, fatty, not bad this time, knowing to call for reinforcements in advance, otherwise, we brothers could have been in serious trouble here!"

At this time, Qin Family’s Fatty had already wiped off his nosebleed, hearing his friend’s praise, he completely forgot about the pain and his disheveled appearance, lifting his chin proudly.

Qin Xi discreetly shifted his position, walking up to the young men. It seemed he was checking over their bodies, but he actually whispered something to them. Shortly after, two of the youths, along with Li Jianqing, slowly retreated backwards and left. Qin Xi then pulled aside another man who was wearing a blue coat, whispered a few words to him, and then the group swiftly turned and walked away.

Wang Aijun watched everything that was happening vividly, his expression suddenly turning ugly, then he turned his head and blinked at his brother as a signal.

Wang Xiwang chuckled and said to He Chongguang, "Old He, look, my younger brother is getting married today, it’s a great day. Since you’ve all come, it’s fate. Come in, sit down, have a drink and let’s all cheer up."

He Chongguang raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Is that so? Congratulations to Director Wang then. But I wonder where the bride hails from? Why not introduce her, so we all can meet her?"

Wang Xiwang did not expect He Chongguang to go straight to the point, his smile faded slightly, and he spoke quite seriously, "Ah, it was too chaotic earlier, I had someone send the bride back. We’ll bring her back after sorting things here. It’s not very auspicious, but clashing is really not good, especially when such a joyful event is soured by people stirring trouble, it’s quite a bad omen." He then glanced at the few youths standing beside He Chongguang.

The mentioned youths were glaring at Wang Xiwang with anger.

He Chongguang chuckled and said, "Well, that’s rather coincidental, but now we are faced with a situation. The people from Li Family Village Production Team have reported to the Armed Forces Department, claiming that someone has trafficked a girl from their village, and the accused family happens to be Director Wang’s household." After saying that, he gave Wang Aijun a meaningful look and continued, "The best way to resolve this is to let the bride show herself so the people from Li Family Village can see. If it’s a misunderstanding, it can be cleared up. Otherwise, I will take a few naughty boys to the Armed Forces Department to teach them a lesson, to help Director Wang vent his anger!" He spoke with righteous indignation!

Upon hearing this, Wang Xiwang’s expression immediately soured. With He Chongguang having connections at the provincial level, not to mention him, even the secretary and mayor had to show some respect.

At this moment, the atmosphere became stagnant, and everyone fell silent. The Wang brothers stood firmly at the door, with a group of the Wang family’s relatives behind them, making it clear that they were not allowing anyone near the Wang family house.

He Chongguang’s expression turned stern, "What’s this, does Director Wang not intend to cooperate with the work of the County Armed Forces Department?"

Wang Xiwang shuddered, forcing a smile, "How could that be? It’s just that the bride really isn’t the girl lost from Li Family Village. That girl ran off with someone, everyone knows it. How could she be the bride my younger brother is marrying? This is just making a fuss."

Wang Aijun chimed in, "Yes, my younger brother’s bride has a marriage agreement, with signatures from our family elders. How could she be trafficked?"

At this moment, Qin Xi, with a cold expression, looked at Wang Aijun and smirked strangely, "This gentleman is Teacher Wang from the county’s middle school, right? I wonder if you recognize a man named Li Jianwen?"

Wang Aijun’s eyes widened behind his glasses and suddenly glittered, his lips unnaturally curling into a smile, "I... don’t know him."

Qin Xi just stretched the tone of voice and ended with a long, "Oh?" Then stopped speaking.

However, for some reason, this question made the Wang brothers’ hair stand on end immediately.
