CHAPTER 33: CHAPTER 33: SON’S PICKY PALATE

In the afternoon, Levi Joyce picked up Ruby Sullivan’s car from the dealership and happily picked up his boss after work.

After graduation, he worked at an advertising company for six months. Later, because of frequent overtime and no time for band rehearsals, he quit. His current job, though it might seem like he’s just a lackey, his boss is beautiful, has a sweet voice, the salary is three times his previous job, and seemingly no overtime; he couldn’t be happier.

After pushing Ruby Sullivan to the side of the car, seeing it was inconvenient for her to get in, he directly lifted her into the car.

Ruby Sullivan smiled and thanked him, but in the eyes of others, this expression seemed to have a different meaning.

Ethan Sterling, with a half sullen face, pressed the car window, "Let’s go." Wasn’t he disgusted by gender differences when he was hugged last time?

Levi Joyce put the wheelchair in the trunk and suddenly felt a chill on his back. As he turned his head, he saw a black Bentley driving past.

He blinked his eyes and thought, luxury cars really do look better!

When Honey saw the handsome brother who brought her mom back home, she suddenly became delighted and ran over to hug Levi Joyce’s leg, "Handsome brother, are you a guest at my house?"

Ruby Sullivan had a drop of sweat slip down her forehead, feeling somewhat speechless.

Due to her poor health, Honey rarely went out since she was young, and was always extremely happy when strangers came home, especially when she saw handsome men.

After returning to the country, Honey’s trait in this aspect became even more pronounced, making Ruby Sullivan kind of regret not finding her a stepfather sooner. Having a father by her side should significantly improve her immunity in this regard, right?

"You must be Honey." He patted her head, "My name is Levi Joyce, nice to meet you."

"Brother Levi Joyce is mom’s new assistant. Come on, let Brother Levi Joyce go home."

"Isn’t he here for dinner?"

"I’m here to bring your mom home. We’ll have dinner together another time."

Honey then let go, "Alright then, handsome brother, goodbye."

After Levi Joyce left, she smiled and said to Ruby Sullivan, "Mom, are you finally going to start dating?"

Ruby Sullivan was both surprised and amused, "Do you know what dating means?"

"Of course! Brother Sterling often says he’s been worried about Mr. Sterling’s love life lately."

Ruby Sullivan couldn’t help but gossip, "Your Mr. Sterling is going to date someone?"

"I don’t know. Anyway, Brother Sterling seems very worried recently. Mom, I plan to call to comfort him a bit."

Ruby Sullivan was somewhat helpless, "Why not comfort him in kindergarten tomorrow?"

"I’m afraid I’ll forget. I must tell Brother Sterling not to worry. Since mom can bring a handsome brother home, Uncle Sterling will also find a pretty sister." Honey said earnestly.

Where are these children learning such messy things?? Ruby Sullivan slightly frowned, feeling there was a need to discuss childcare issues with Mr. Sterling. She certainly didn’t want his precocious son to complicate her silly girl.

She called Honey over and hugged her, patiently explaining, "Levi Joyce is mom’s assistant. Mom isn’t going to date anyone. This is an important matter for adults and shouldn’t be spoken about recklessly."

"Oh, I see, then I won’t call Brother Sterling."

"Good girl. Can you push mom to the room to change clothes?"

"Okay."

Not long after, Mama Bennett finished preparing dinner, as usual, all dishes Ruby Sullivan liked.

The three had just sat down for not long when suddenly there was a knock on the door. Mama Bennett got up to answer, loudly asking who it was, but was startled by the response.

"Ethan Sterling."

She hurriedly opened the door, "Sir, what brings you here?"

Ethan Sterling, with a stern face, didn’t know how to speak. Seth Sterling took a glance at his useless dad and calmly said, "The food elsewhere is too terrible."

At this moment, Honey had already run to the living room, exclaiming happily, "Mom, it’s really Brother Sterling!"

Upon hearing this, Mama Bennett hastily turned around to push Ruby Sullivan, who was moving this way.

Seth Sterling stood at the door, holding a large fruit basket, "Auntie Wenny, my dad and I are here to join for dinner." Even after practicing for ten minutes in front of a mirror at home, he still blushed bright red after speaking.

Ruby Sullivan was dumbfounded, took a moment to react, and then awkwardly said, "Please come in, um... we were just about to eat. Mama Bennett, can you add two sets of tableware?"

Mama Bennett was also quite surprised, nodding repeatedly, and it was only after Seth called her that she remembered to accept the fruit basket.

At the dinner table, apart from Honey being as happy as a little bee that fell into a jar of honey, everyone else was quite awkward.

Ruby Sullivan couldn’t understand Ethan Sterling’s thoughts and couldn’t be bothered to make conversation. Luckily, with Honey as the conversation starter, things didn’t feel too awkward.

After dinner, Honey dragged Seth Sterling to her room to look at her toys. Ruby Sullivan and Ethan Sterling sat in the living room eating fruit and watching TV.

At a glance, it really looked a bit like a little family of four.

However, Ethan Sterling’s expressionless face was somewhat intimidating.

Ruby Sullivan popped a cherry into her mouth, "Mr. Sterling wouldn’t plan to come and join us for dinner every day, would he?"

"Seth is too picky about his food. He’s used to eating Mama Bennett’s cooking." Ethan Sterling, with an unchanged expression, shifted the blame onto his son.

"In that case, Mr. Sterling should take Mama Bennett home today. I’ve already found an assistant. Levi Joyce can help pick up Honey after school."

"That’s too troublesome. Let Mama Bennett bring Seth and Honey over tomorrow. I can finish work with you." Ethan Sterling meticulously proposed a new plan.

Ruby Sullivan was stunned.

Before she could figure out what to say, Ethan Sterling stood up, called out "Seth," and rudely said, "I’m leaving, no need to see me off." Then he walked out with his son.

Honey chased to the door, waving happily, "Uncle Sterling, see you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow." A spring breeze-like smile appeared on Ethan Sterling’s usually stern face.

Once inside the elevator, he let go of his son’s hand, instinctively letting out a sigh. What exactly was he doing?

Seth Sterling glanced at him, "Dad, are you nervous?"

Ethan Sterling raised an eyebrow, "What would I have to be nervous about?"

"I heard that people tend to feel nervous in front of someone they like." Seth smiled and patted his dad’s back, "Normal." Actually, he wanted to pat his back but couldn’t reach.

Ethan Sterling glanced down and sneered, "You’re all grown up now, huh?"

In the evening, while Mama Bennett was helping Ruby Sullivan with her night routine, she cheerfully said, "Miss Wallace, I’ve been working with The Sterling Family for five years, and I’ve never seen Mr. Sterling like this."

"Like how?" Ruby Sullivan was curious too, about how these five years went for him.

"Although the eldest... I mean Miss Sullivan also lived with The Sterling Family before, the way he looks at Miss Sullivan is different from how he looks at you."

Ruby Sullivan said amusedly, "Are you suggesting that the two of them didn’t have feelings for each other?"

"Miss Wallace, please don’t blame me for being nosy. Our Mr. Sterling and Miss Sullivan have always slept in separate rooms. Mr. Sterling let Miss Sullivan stay in the house just to give the young master a complete family."

Separate rooms? Ruby Sullivan thought about Su Xiangrong’s baby back then and got a bit confused. Could it be that Su Xiangrong, like her, also accidentally got pregnant due to a drunken mishap?

If that’s true, then Ethan Sterling is... what an animal.

"Then what about Seth’s biological mother?"

Mama Bennett shook her head, "No one knows who the little master’s biological mother is. They only know that one day, Mr. Sterling brought back a child, who is the young master." She finished wiping Ruby Sullivan’s feet, "Miss Wallace, our Mr. Sterling is truly a good man."

Ruby Sullivan pretended not to understand, saying nothing further.

The next morning, the Sterling father and son appeared at the door again.

Seth Sterling was already more composed than the night before, "Good morning, Auntie Wenny. My dad and I are here for breakfast."
