Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 384: Trust Dad
CHAPTER 384: CHAPTER 384: TRUST DAD
Seth listened with a surprised expression, then leaned over to his sister’s ear and whispered, "Are you sure you didn’t see it wrong?"
Honey leaned back, "Of course not, I saw it clearly. To give them a little more time, I even hid backstage for a bit. Aren’t I clever?"
"Yeah, that’s a bit of progress." Seth smiled and patted her head, though he still was a bit skeptical of his sister’s words.
"Brother, do you think Mom and Dad are getting back together?"
"Maybe." He didn’t want to give his sister too much hope, fearing she’d be too disappointed if it didn’t happen.
The three adults watched the two kids whispering secrets with curiosity, but didn’t have the heart to interrupt. Fortunately, Seth soon brought Honey over.
Leon Sterling said goodbye to the kids and left. If he’d known Ruby Sullivan would be there today, he certainly wouldn’t have come to be a third wheel.
Ruby Sullivan coldly looked at Ethan Sterling, "I’ll take the kids home, you can head back to the office."
"You take Seth, I’ll take Honey to the hospital for a check-up later."
Ruby was puzzled, "Isn’t Honey’s follow-up next month?"
Ethan thought Mama Bennett would have told her about last night’s incident, but she knew nothing, so he had to briefly explain.
Ruby Sullivan was completely stunned.
Honey was also shocked, seeing her mom’s face change instantly; she punched her dad’s leg hard, blaming him, "We agreed not to tell Mom!" She felt it was her fault for not listening to her mom that she fell; if Mom found out, she’d be a naughty kid. Santa might remember her mistake and not bring her gifts next year!
Ruby knelt down, hugging her daughter who looked at Dad indignantly, her eyes full of guilt, "How could you not tell Mom about something like this? You should have told me right away."
Hearing her mom’s trembling voice as if about to cry, Honey lowered her head apologetically, "I didn’t listen, and I’m okay, so I didn’t want to tell you and make you scold me."
"Silly, even if I scold you, it’s because I’m worried about you getting hurt. You must tell me right away about these things, okay? What if you’re hurt and don’t know? Mom will take you to the hospital if needed."
Honey nodded, hugging her mom to comfort her, "Don’t worry, Mom, I’m fine." Even though her mom didn’t say anything, Honey sensed her mom’s fear, a feeling all too familiar from the years when she hadn’t fully recovered from her illness.
She didn’t like it.
Recalling last night’s incident, Seth felt guilty, coming over to apologize, "Sorry, Mom, it was my responsibility too for not watching her closely and letting her fall."
Hearing her son’s sincere apology, Ruby felt even guiltier. It was clearly her who was the most at fault!
"Sorry, I should have been with you last night. It’s my bad."
Ethan reminded, "Let’s go to the hospital first."
"Okay." Ruby snapped back to reality, hurriedly getting up, "I’ll take her, and you take Seth home."
"I want to come too. I want to be with Honey." Seth requested.
Every time Honey had a follow-up, there were blood tests and such. He always accompanied her, hoping to encourage his sister by her side.
"Let’s all go together." Ethan suggested.
"Alright." Ruby couldn’t think of anything better to suggest. She knew Ethan must also be very concerned about Honey’s condition.
After that, Honey and Seth got into Ethan’s car, while Ruby drove to the hospital herself.
The two kids chose their dad’s car mainly because they wanted to gossip a bit about mom and dad holding hands. They knew they couldn’t ask mom, but dad was different.
As the car started, Honey quickly and slyly attacked her dad with a question, "Dad, did you hold mom’s hand in kindergarten?"
With a glance at his daughter’s expression, Ethan knew she saw it, so he decided not to hide it, "Yes."
Honey was instantly very excited, turning to Seth, "See, I didn’t see it wrong!"
Seth also smiled, winking at her, gesturing for her to keep asking.
Getting the hint, Honey followed up, "Does this mean you and mom are back together?"
"You should ask mom about that."
Honey frowned, "Dad, you’re mean. You know she won’t tell us."
Ethan laughed, "Sit tight, Dad needs to focus on driving; we can’t chat all the time."
Honey, helpless, sat back, leaning on her brother’s shoulder with a sigh.
Seth grabbed her hand, smiling, "Don’t worry, trust Dad." Then he called out loudly, "Right, Dad?"
Ethan didn’t answer because he didn’t know how. He wanted to know that answer too.
After a series of checks, they didn’t find any adverse reactions in Honey, except for two in-depth test results due tomorrow. The doctor thought there wasn’t much to worry about, but still advised Honey to be careful.
Even though her illness was mostly cured, she was still more delicate compared to other kids.
Listening to the doctor’s words, Honey felt touched. She knew how hard it was to get better, having made her brother suffer a lot. She realized she was too careless this time.
"Uncle Lawson, I promise I’ll listen to Mom and not do dangerous things."
"Good girl." Zane Lawson smiled.
He genuinely liked Honey, admiring her a little bit too. She seemed like a sticky rice ball but had an incredibly strong heart. He treated many kids over the years, but few were as understanding as her.
Mature children like her make people want to cherish them even more.
When the family of four left the hospital, it was almost dark.
Ruby initially wanted to say goodbye to Ethan right there, but Seth took the opportunity, "Mom, we haven’t had a meal together as a family for a long time. Why not have Dad come home for dinner? It’s Christmas, after all; the more, the merrier."
As soon as he suggested it, Honey clapped along in agreement.
Ruby smiled, thinking to herself, Son, are you sure having your dad over will make it merrier rather than colder?
"Dad might be busy tonight, no time to eat with us," she said, giving Ethan a look to be more disciplined.
Receiving her hint, Ethan seriously replied, "I have time today."
Honey cheered, "Yeah," hugging her dad’s leg, "A family Christmas! I’m so happy!"
Seeing her daughter so excited, Ruby set aside her principles for the moment, saying, "Let me call Mama Bennett." It’s just one meal together; it wouldn’t change anything, she told herself.
