Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 468: The Newcomer
CHAPTER 468: CHAPTER 468: THE NEWCOMER
Ruby Sullivan was momentarily taken aback; hearing the question come from Jack made her uncomfortable.
He asked that because he already doesn’t trust Rhonda Sullivan anymore...
She frowned, "That’s between us; you can ask her."
"She speaks of you so poorly." Jack didn’t hold back, hoping to hear the truth from Ruby Sullivan, "I don’t think you’re that kind of person."
Ruby Sullivan rolled her eyes, thinking, whatever your wife says, you ought to believe. When you start seeking the truth, you’ve already stopped seeing her as your wife.
"I don’t think I have an obligation to explain my personal matters to you." Ruby Sullivan said, hanging up, and then leaned into Ethan Sterling’s embrace, "So annoying."
Ethan Sterling, while continuing to read the report, rubbed her head and smiled, "I think you should kick her while she’s down."
"Forget it,
I guess she’s already having a pretty hard fall without me stepping in." Ruby Sullivan yawned, continuing to feel drowsy in his arms.
She really wanted to use her skills openly to take back what should have been hers from Rhonda Sullivan or prove her abilities and fight for a useless breath of air. As for whether Rhonda Sullivan was doing well or not, she didn’t really care anymore and had no intention of diminishing her character just to make her life miserable.
After hanging up Jack’s call, Ruby Sullivan didn’t pay attention to the aftermath. She needed to hire a new assistant to replace Zoe, her previous one. With past experiences in mind, this time the recruitment process was exceptionally cautious in verifying the identity of personnel. Despite this, Ruby Sullivan felt that avoiding pitfalls still seemed to be up to fate.
On that day, during a job interview, Rhonda Sullivan suddenly barged in uncontrollably, cursing, "Bitch." Her stance suggested that Ruby Sullivan had slept with Jack, as if she had solid evidence behind it. Just as she raised her hand to hit, someone suddenly grabbed her arm.
Immediately, the young woman applying for the job twisted Rhonda Sullivan’s arm until it was pinned behind her back, and with a swipe of her foot, she swept Rhonda Sullivan to the ground. The petite girl then knelt down and pinned her, even though she looked slim and small, she efficiently subdued Rhonda Sullivan.
Howard, who heard the commotion, rushed over, seeing the shrew already subdued. Hearing her foul language, he frowned and casually rolled up some printing paper into a wad, stuffing it into Rhonda Sullivan’s mouth, and finally the meeting room became peaceful.
"Call the police?" Howard took over Rhonda Sullivan, asking Ruby Sullivan for her opinion.
"Take her to another room first." Ruby Sullivan was still shaken, looking at the woman who continued to threaten her with her eyes and throat with disdain.
"Alright." Howard said, then escorted her out.
Ruby Sullivan let out a long breath and smiled at the young woman who came to her aide, "Thank you." It was then she realized this girl was the one who graduated from the police academy.
Because HR found this resume particularly unique, out of curiosity they didn’t directly skip it but asked Ruby Sullivan for her opinion instead. She had never interacted with a police officer before, so she wanted to conduct an interview to find out why she had submitted the resume.
"You’re welcome." Serena Jansen shyly smiled, seeming a bit flustered, differing slightly from her previous heroic demeanor.
"Yes, I’d like to know why you’re applying, as your major is rather different from the position we are hiring for."
Serena Jansen felt disappointed upon hearing this, "So, I have no chance, then?"
"Not necessarily. I majored in blood food safety in college, which also has nothing to do with perfumery." Ruby Sullivan smiled, hoping to ease her mood a bit. Although interviewing her was purely out of curiosity, her skills just now gave Ruby Sullivan a strong impulse to keep her.
She had refused Ethan Sterling’s offer to provide a bodyguard, but wasn’t against having a skilled assistant nearby.
Upon hearing this, Serena Jansen candidly replied, "The spot at the police station was taken by a classmate with connections, which frustrated me. I no longer wanted to be a police officer but didn’t know what else I could do and didn’t want to pursue a master’s degree either. Then I happened to see your job post which didn’t require specific experience for the position, so I submitted my resume." Besides, she was quite satisfied with the salary listed in the job posting.
Serena Jansen wasn’t picky about her job, but the compensation definitely had to be better than working at the police station; otherwise, she’d be too upset!
Ruby Sullivan was amused by her words; the sincerity of this answer unexpectedly reminded her of Levi Joyce.
"The position you’re applying for is my assistant. We are a company that produces fragrance products. I am a perfumer, hoping to find someone knowledgeable about fragrance products or someone with a keen sense of smell, or even someone aspiring to become a perfumer..."
Serena Jansen listened to her speak and began to feel her chances shrinking, so in her rush, she blurted out, "I can learn!"
"Hmm... The boss isn’t paying you just to study here." Ruby Sullivan’s attitude was gentle, but she couldn’t be sloppy about this matter.
Serena Jansen’s expression immediately became one of distress, interpreting the response as a rejection, "Then...sorry to disturb you."
"Wait." Ruby Sullivan quickly called out as Serena Jansen was about to leave, "Your situation is quite unique, so... how about staying for an internship for a week? You can also see if you like the work here. The salary might be a bit low, based on an intern’s standard, but meals are included."
Serena Jansen hesitated for a moment, then nodded promptly. After all, it was only for a week; even if it turned out to be a bad experience, the loss wouldn’t be too severe.
"Then you should go back and prepare for tomorrow’s entry." Ruby Sullivan said, organizing the resumes on the table well, planning to first observe Serena Jansen’s performance before deciding whether to hire another assistant.
After sending Serena Jansen away, she went to another meeting room where Rhonda Sullivan had calmed down a lot, with Howard overseeing, leaving her no room for further thoughts.
"Bitch, Jack left; are you happy now?" She gritted her teeth and glared at Ruby Sullivan angrily, as if ready to pounce and tear her apart the next moment.
Ruby Sullivan did not expect her to come looking for her for such childish reasons. If Rhonda Sullivan had her wits about her, she wouldn’t have suspected her in this matter at all. But she came anyway, either because she had a brain lapse, or because someone was stirring up trouble behind the scenes, trying to find a scapegoat to vent on.
Ruby Sullivan knew she must be particularly upset to come looking for her, but she didn’t want to be her punching bag.
"You’re not that important to me; your happiness or misery is not enough to be a reason for me to feel joy." Ruby Sullivan said with a pout, "Is there any other matter you want to talk about?"
"Was it you who sent the stuff?"
"Are you truly brainless?" Ruby Sullivan sneered, "It was Tyler Aldrin who sent it. How would I have access to your indecent video? You really overestimate me." She finished speaking, and Rhonda Sullivan stormed out like a madwoman.
Watching her back, Ruby Sullivan suddenly felt quite sorry for her.
