Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 509: Severed
CHAPTER 509: CHAPTER 509: SEVERED
Henry noticed that Rhonda Sullivan was almost done eating and quietly reminded her, but she impatiently frowned and still raised her head. Her eyes were lowered, showing a demeanor that kept others at a distance, seemingly disdainful of looking directly at Ruby Sullivan.
Ruby Sullivan suddenly realized something was off with Rhonda.
Before, whenever Rhonda invited her, it was either to upset her or cause trouble, always with a clear purpose. Even if she was in a bad mood, she would act as if she was the happiest person in the world, with an imperious gaze, acting superior, and speaking mockingly. She would never show such a face as if in mourning, looking like a resentful woman, unwilling to say a word.
Ruby thought about the time when she was controlled by The Finn Family and frowned, "What’s wrong with you?"
Rhonda finally lifted her eyelids to glance at her but quickly avoided eye contact, shaking her head.
Henry quickly smiled and said, "Mr. Sullivan caught a cold a few days ago, and her throat is a bit hoarse, so it’s not convenient for her to speak."
Ruby raised her eyebrows, "Turned mute?"
Henry’s expression stiffened, not knowing how to smooth things over, so he could only smile awkwardly, and after a moment of silence, changed the topic, "Actually, today Mr. Sullivan invited you two to discuss the matter of the stock transfer of The Sullivan Group." He finished speaking and took out a contract from his briefcase to hand it to Ruby Sullivan, "This is a transfer contract. Mr. Sullivan has already signed and sealed it. As long as you agree, it will take effect immediately after you sign."
Rhonda rolled her eyes dramatically, almost flipping them to the sky, irritated at the sight of this man nodding and bowing.
Ruby Sullivan doubted her ears. Was Rhonda throwing such a big piece of fat meat as bait just to mess with her this time?
She took the contract and looked at a few key clauses, which were just as Henry said, Rhonda was going to transfer all her shares of The Sullivan Group for only 1 dollar!
At this point, Ruby couldn’t even trust her own eyes and hurriedly handed the contract to Ethan Sterling, suspiciously eyeing Henry and Rhonda, "Did you guys poison the food?"
How could Rhonda unconditionally give her the shares of The Sullivan Group? Even if someone told Ruby it was because Rhonda had a terminal illness, Ruby wouldn’t believe it because she was certain if Rhonda really did this, she would die with unresolved regrets.
Ethan Sterling was also filled with doubt.
The contract they brought had no issues, as long as Ruby signed it and it was notarized by the relevant departments, it would take effect immediately. Other than the practical delay in the stock transfer operation for a few days, he couldn’t think of any potential twist.
Unless Rhonda and Henry had already transferred a large amount of funds, leaving Ruby with an empty shell or... a debt-ridden shell.
Of course, this was not impossible. In fact, it was more likely.
Rhonda glared fiercely at Ruby, hand pressed down on the table,
looking as if she would jump up and bite, held back by Henry who pressed down on the back of her hand to stop her.
Henry, acting like a completely docile nice guy, smiled and said, "Mr. Sullivan, you really know how to joke. After the stock transfer formalities are completed, Mr. Sullivan—I mean Rhonda—will resign from all her positions at The Sullivan Group and plans to sell The Sullivan Estate. If Mr. Sullivan and Mr. Sterling are interested in purchasing, you can contact me."
Ruby was even more shocked, "What is wrong with her?"
Henry was about to speak when Rhonda suddenly stood up, shouting loudly, "I’m scared, okay? I’m afraid that one day I’ll just die drinking at home under mysterious circumstances. Ruby Sullivan, you are ruthless. You have your ways of charming men, and I admit I’m not as good as you. I’m not playing anymore!" She spat as she cursed, then stormed out of the room with her bag in a huff.
Ruby didn’t pay attention to what she said, but she couldn’t help but want to laugh at the pronunciation of her words, "What about her teeth...?" She wasn’t mistaken, Rhonda didn’t paint her front teeth black as a joke. Her front teeth were gone, so she spoke with a lisp and puffed her cheeks when she ate,
only able to chew with her back teeth.
This was something they didn’t intend to mention, so before coming, they agreed with Rhonda to keep her mouth shut and let Henry do all the talking. But clearly, keeping quiet wasn’t easy for Rhonda.
Ethan Sterling coldly asked, "What did she mean by being scared of dying mysteriously at home?"
Henry didn’t know what the relationship between T and Ruby was, so he didn’t dare to speak carelessly in front of Ethan. He and Rhonda were in a weak position, and if something they said inadvertently displeased Ruby and caused trouble, they couldn’t afford it.
"Mr. Sullivan has been drinking a lot recently, often to the point of delirium. Last week she fell in the bathroom after getting drunk and knocked out her front teeth. She’s in no condition to manage The Sullivan Group properly, so to ensure its better development, she decided to give up her equity. For the current Rhonda, cutting ties with The Sullivan Group and The Sullivan Family should allow her to live more easily."
Henry concealed the real reason, but the latter part was all true.
He had already discussed with Rhonda that after all the formalities were completed, they would leave Ariston and start a new life elsewhere. Maybe they would open a small supermarket in some small city and be a couple-run business, or simply use their current savings to buy a few houses and become landlords. In short, they had decided to shed the current life of vanity.
After finishing, Henry also got up and left the room. In the car, Rhonda was impatiently waiting in the passenger seat, her eyebrows tightly furrowed and her eyes filled with disdain, speaking irritably, "What took you so long?"
Henry laughed, "Going home to pack?"
"Do you even need to ask?" Rhonda glared at him.
"Alright, alright." Henry responded repeatedly, with a voice full of affection.
Actually, Rhonda’s teeth could be repaired, but she refused. It wasn’t to remember the humiliation of that day, but to remind herself how ridiculous her past life was, hoping that every day in the future, when she saw the two missing front teeth in the mirror, she would cherish her current life.
Although she hadn’t yet figured out how to face Henry with a relatively calm attitude, she was hoping for that day to come.
Upon thorough investigation,
The operation of The Sullivan Group had no problems. Although terminating contracts with The Lawson Group caused some economic loss, the loss on the Miss side was significant, but overall everything was normal, the accounts were clear, and bad debts were within acceptable limits.
Despite this, before the formal signing, Ethan Sterling still requested that The Sullivan Group close its accounts for a month for an emergency audit.
Rhonda wanted to give away the company and didn’t care if closing accounts would cause losses, so she naturally didn’t refuse.
