Chubby Mommy: Scheming Daddy, Surrender Now!
Chapter 510: Suspicion
CHAPTER 510: CHAPTER 510: SUSPICION
The listing for the sale of The Sullivan Estate was posted online, but unfortunately, even after more than a week, there was no interest. Rhonda Sullivan began to doubt the currently booming real estate market. How could such a prime location with excellent property rights not attract anyone for so long?
Just buying a neighborhood pass should have people blowing up your phone every day, right? Ariston
is not lacking wealthy individuals, and certainly not those looking to invest in Ariston. A house like The Sullivan Estate
would absolutely be a coveted and rare find for the new rich.
Rhonda wanted to reach out to someone to inquire about the situation, but previously, the only person she knew in the real estate industry was Azure Hollis. After hearing that the Aldrin Family was maliciously acquired by Ethan Sterling, they divorced. Rhonda thought, her wedding was disrupted by Tyler Aldrin, so it probably had nothing to do with Azure; she had even saved Azure once, so it should be okay to ask her.
After much hesitation, she still made the call, as they say, there are no eternal enemies.
"You’re still alive?" Azure started with sarcasm, fearing the person on the other end wouldn’t catch her venomous tone.
"Yes, very much alive. I wanted to ask you something, did you know I’m selling a house?" Rhonda didn’t want to bicker with that foolish woman and quickly got to the point.
"Selling a house?" Azure laughed, "I heard The Sullivan Group is undergoing a forced audit, and the stocks have dropped so much that it’s probably enough to make your old man jump out of the grave."
Rhonda sneered, "If my old man can jump out of the grave, he should first pay you and your dad a visit." With that, she hung up.
Such a gossip-loving woman like Azure knowing about The Sullivan Group’s audit but not knowing The Sullivan Estate is for sale? Rhonda thought she should have been the first to call her to "congratulate" her.
The sale of the house was always handled by Henry Linden, and Rhonda didn’t even know which real estate platform he used, which immediately aroused her suspicion.
Either Henry was unreliable, or the third party was.
She hoped for the latter.
She searched online for the selling status of The Sullivan Estate and quickly found the sale record. Pretending to be a buyer, she called, but as soon as she expressed her intention, she was politely refused.
"Why can’t it be bought?"
"This is the consignor’s request."
Rhonda hung up, her mind filled with question marks. She got up from the sofa, changed her clothes, and went out.
The Sullivan Group’s office building, where Henry was stationed, ensuring that company operations could continue relatively normally during the audit. Seeing Rhonda entering, he was overjoyed; he had previously encouraged her to go out more, but she always refused. She had been staying at home lately, waiting for potential buyers every day.
Henry greeted her with a smile, although her face looked dark, he didn’t take it to heart. Rhonda’s face had been gloomy lately; this expression was entirely normal.
Before he could speak, Rhonda slapped him hard on the face.
A crisp sound echoed, and Henry was dumbfounded, staring at her in shock, not knowing what had happened.
Rhonda squinted and questioned, "I called the real estate broker." She said, sitting angrily on the sofa, crossing her legs, "Tell me, what are you really up to."
Henry felt a chill at her words, smiling bitterly, "Rhonda, have you never trusted me from the start?"
"Don’t change the subject." Rhonda glanced at him with disdain. She was utterly sick of his pitiful expression, as if she had wronged him, lacking any manliness.
Every time she saw that expression, she wondered if she was out of her mind to have listened to him and handed The Sullivan Group over. Perhaps he would turn around and tell her he was actually a spy bought by Ruby to infiltrate her side.
Every time she had such a dream, she’d wake up in cold sweat.
At this point, Henry knew not to confront her directly. The things she once cared about the most had been cast aside because of him; he couldn’t aggravate her disappointment and fear.
After calming himself for a moment, he explained calmly, "I still hoped The Sullivan Estate could be sold to Ruby. She’s your sister, and selling to her means it could still be your home. If it’s sold to someone else, then nothing remains."
Selling the old house was Rhonda’s decision; she wanted to sever ties completely. She had little emotional connection to it, as her childhood memories there were all about scheming how to make Ruby fatter, how to make her father and sister like her, constantly reminding herself that she was just living under someone else’s roof, enduring hardships every day.
Rhonda looked at him coldly, "Are you thinking of giving the house away for free too?"
"Don’t overthink..." Henry tried to reach out and comfort her.
Rhonda angrily pushed him away, "Did you take Ruby’s money to harm me?"
Henry was under even more pressure lately than she was. Ethan had been sending people to conduct various investigations on him, not just secretly but openly questioning as well, digging into his family history. His mood was not as good as it seemed.
He was doing all this purely for Rhonda, yet now he was the one being treated poorly?
Henry paused for a moment, got up, poured her a cup of water, and set it down before sitting at a distance, pretending not to hear her suspicions, "Ruby and Ethan don’t believe you would hand The Sullivan Group over to them, so they’re still conducting various investigations. As for the old house, they’re also waiting and watching. Even if I didn’t tell the platform those things, Ethan would definitely intervene. Even if the estate is filled with unpleasant memories for you, it’s very important to Ruby. She will definitely buy it, and we can afford this time; waiting merely maintains good appearances."
"Then why did you hypocritically list it online?"
Henry sighed, "I wanted to show you. You were so agitated that you weren’t willing to listen to me. I had to follow your instructions initially and let the broker assist with the sale."
"Ha, so you were just trying to deceive me?" Rhonda got up, grabbed her bag, and viciously said, "I’ll sell the house myself, and as for The Sullivan Group’s shares, I admit it—I was fed up with the company long ago, and I don’t want to see you again!" With that, she left in a huff.
Henry frowned, watching her leave with a deep sense of pain.
He didn’t chase after her or even call her name, instead sinking dejectedly onto the sofa. He didn’t fear for his future or handling life afterward; what he feared was Rhonda’s suspicion.
At this moment, Ruby was also troubled.
Although Nirvana’s development was going well, the money she had was barely enough for a down payment, let alone a property like this, which required a hefty family fee to acquire.
This was also the reason for her recent hesitation. If she insisted on buying the old house, what would be the reason? It couldn’t possibly just be to wait for appreciation and then sell it.
