CHAPTER 523: CHAPTER 523: FAKING AN ACCIDENT FOR PROFIT
"Apologies, for the other questions, you spoke too softly, my hearing isn’t as sharp as my nose. I hope everyone will pay attention to The Sullivan Group’s press conference, where I will provide satisfactory answers to all questions. Oh, of course, I can’t speak on behalf of Rhonda Sullivan." She said with a slight smile and got into the car.
After today, Nirvana held a very grand product launch.
It wasn’t really because this new product was important. In fact, this youth series was one that would be transferred to the Miss brand, the least important series of Nirvana. But Ruby Sullivan booked the entire third-floor banquet hall of the Splendor Grand Hotel to celebrate.
Even Ethan Sterling thought her actions were a bit unconventional this time, something Aidan Sinclair might actually do.
Ruby Sullivan didn’t really have any special reason; she just wanted to enjoy the feeling of being lavishly extravagant!
To create some buzz and promote their own products, the banquet invited many elites and quite a few A-list and B-list celebrities. Stella Jennings, as the spokesperson, was naturally present and was undeniably the leading lady.
To make Stella Jennings the brightest focus of the event, Sasha Shaw specifically designed a shimmering champagne-colored short cocktail dress for her, laid-back and fitting this commercial’s character setting.
Of course, Ruby Sullivan went through all this trouble because Stella Jennings was about to join a crew. Due to some unknown issue, the original leading actress dropped out without reason, and Crystal Pierce was tasked with taking over the role. Ruby Sullivan wanted to build some momentum for Stella Jennings so she’d feel confident entering the crew.
That day, a red carpet was laid out in the lobby of the Splendor Grand Hotel. After entering, all the guests had to pose on the red carpet for a few shots by the surrounding journalists, then leave their signatures on a huge logo wall.
Stella Jennings was scheduled to walk the red carpet with a male artist from the company. As she was about to arrive at the hotel, his agent called Ellie to say he had an upset stomach and kept running to the restroom, unable to attend today’s event in any way.
Listening to the fragments of conversation over the phone, Stella Jennings was a bit flustered, "So... do I have to walk the red carpet alone?"
"Theoretically, yes. You don’t need to be nervous; it’s not an important occasion. Just walk as you normally would, no need to be tense." Ellie reiterated.
Stella Jennings thought it was no big deal. It was just a short walk, ending with a scribble on the board, then a smile for everyone, right?
Unexpectedly, when their car stopped, Crystal Pierce happened to get out of her car as well, now accompanied not by Troy the assistant—heard Troy’s rice porridge was decent—but Crystal thought her cooking should be more comprehensive, so she replaced him.
Seeing Stella Jennings, she immediately greeted with a smile, her enthusiasm completely different from before.
"Holly, you look so beautiful today." She said, opening her arms for a hug with Stella Jennings.
With journalists all around, of course, they had to act like sisters; after all, they’re from the same company, and it wouldn’t be good if rumors of discord got out.
But Stella Jennings saw her, and her smile was distorted, really unable to act as naturally. Nevertheless, she admired Crystal, feeling she’d never want to be like her, yet finding her quite impressive.
"Stella, who are you walking the red carpet with today?"
"I made a last-minute schedule change to make it here, so I didn’t arrange someone. What about you? I heard you were going with Jason, quite a match."
"He... he’s not feeling well today, might not come." Stella Jennings was about to suggest she go in first when Crystal Pierce proposed, "Why don’t we walk together? After all, we’re about to act opposite each other soon, walking together could be like a preview."
Stella Jennings wanted to refuse but was tightly held by the wrist, surrounded by journalists taking pictures and videoing. She couldn’t rudely shake off her hand, so she had to bite the bullet and walk in with her.
Crystal Pierce was wearing a starry blue full-length evening gown, sequined at the hem, like the night sky hung on her dress, quite beautiful too.
Standing together, one looked like a serene dawn, bright and fresh, the other like a peaceful night, harmonious and profound, each with their own charm.
Both artists from Morningstar, one a rising starlet, the other a major pillar, and their first public appearance together. Of course, the journalists wouldn’t miss such a great opportunity.
Once Stella Jennings got into the mood, her body relaxed, and her smile became more natural. Ellie, who had been anxiously following outside, let out a sigh of relief.
After signing, the two stood together again, allowing the journalists to capture them for a moment, then followed the host’s guidance to move inside.
Who knew, Crystal Pierce suddenly fell to the ground, giving Stella Jennings quite a scare, and she hurried to help.
Crystal Pierce whispered fiercely, "Did you do that on purpose?"
Stella Jennings heard this with a bewildered look, but it was too late to explain, and no time to ask clearly because workers soon arrived to help, pushing her aside.
The scene got a bit chaotic, and someone from behind nudged Stella, startling her into closing her eyes. She was soon caught in an embrace.
She exhaled deeply, knowing she was safe.
The one who caught her was Ellie.
Ellie grabbed her wrist, pulling her to the side, "What happened earlier?"
Stella Jennings shook her head, "We were walking just fine, but she suddenly fell and asked if I did it on purpose..." She suddenly realized, "Was this a setup?"
"Pretty much, probably trying to create discord rumors and slander you, such childishness." Ellie snorted, "Ignore her, childish."
Ruby Sullivan heard something happened in the front hall and rushed over, immediately stopping Crystal Pierce, who was about to be taken to the hospital.
Relieved to hear Stella Jennings didn’t fall, she felt alright.
Seeing her protective demeanor, Crystal’s expression on the stretcher changed.
Claire, a fan of Stella Jennings, found her boss’s reaction amusingly exasperating and couldn’t help but remind her, "Boss, it’s a bit obvious."
Ruby Sullivan blinked, unconcerned, only relaxing after she found Stella Jennings.
Before taking Stella Jennings away, Amy reminded her a bit worriedly, "You’re about to join the crew soon, be sure to watch your mouth strictly."
"Don’t worry, I’ve got it covered." Ruby Sullivan said, leading her away, and once Ellie was out of earshot, she whispered, "I prepared a chocolate fountain today, with very tasty butter cookies. I tried them, especially delicious with chocolate."
Stella Jennings chuckled sneakily, "Who said they’d keep an eye on me just now?"
"I did, me." Ruby Sullivan proudly pointed at herself, "I’m watching you eat more."
The two of them laughed together, not wanting to bother with all those messy affairs.
