CHAPTER 98: CHAPTER 98: LEON STERLING GETS ANGRY

Bone marrow testing is particularly painful, so when Honey heard these words, she shivered involuntarily. Her little face immediately became scrunched up like a steamed bun. She hurriedly got off the bed, moved to Seth’s side, grabbed his hand, and worriedly asked, "Seth, are you sick?"

Seth shook his head, "I’m not sick, but to cure your illness, you need a bone marrow transplant. I’m your brother, so maybe my bone marrow can match yours, and that way your illness can be cured."

"But...bone marrow testing is too painful." Honey looked troubled, raising her hand and gesturing, "The doctor has to insert such a long needle into the body..." Although she wanted to cure her own illness, thinking that Seth would have to endure such pain made her reluctant.

The more she thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt, as if Seth was already undergoing such pain. Honey hugged Seth’s arm, "Bone marrow testing is really too painful."

Honey’s ability to express herself was far less than Seth’s, but Ruby Sullivan could sense her daughter’s emotions and understood her feelings.

Ruby squatted down and held Seth’s hand, "Seth, the probability of your bone marrow matching Honey’s is very low, and you’re still too young. Your dad and I will try to find a bone marrow; when you’re a bit older, and if we still haven’t found a suitable one, then we’ll have you checked, okay?"

"But..." Seth frowned, glancing at Honey and not having the heart to say the rest.

He had asked the doctor in the morning and knew Honey’s condition was very bad. If a bone marrow transplant wasn’t done soon, her life could be at risk at any moment.

Honey thought her mom made sense and tugged at his arm, saying, "Brother, good kids listen to their mom."

Seth, feeling helpless, said, "Alright then." He pulled his arm back and ruffled Honey’s hair, silently vowing to take good care of her and not let her get hurt again.

At night, Ruby Sullivan and Mama Bennett stayed to accompany Honey, while Ethan Sterling took Seth home.

Ethan walked a few steps, saw Ruby still sitting there, couldn’t help but remind her, "Aren’t you going to see us off?"

Ruby was stunned, thinking he had something to say to her, so she asked Mama Bennett to watch over Honey and got up to see them out.

After leaving the medical building, Ethan handed the car key to Seth, letting him get in the car first. He turned to Ruby and said, "I’ll come early tomorrow. What would you like for breakfast?"

Ruby couldn’t figure out the tenderness on Ethan’s face and instinctively felt that his thoughtfulness had a trap, "No need, the food here is fine."

Ethan frowned, "A husband wants to bring breakfast. Shouldn’t a wife act coy and think about what she wants to eat?" Seeing her stay dumbfounded and unable to respond for a while, he sighed, "Forget it, take it slow." After saying this, he leaned over, kissed her on the lips, and turned to leave.

Ruby stood there, stunned, watching his elegant and long silhouette leave. She touched her lips, feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Ethan, what is going on with you?

She returned absentmindedly to the ward, unable to figure it out no matter how much she thought.

Mama Bennett noticed her unusual behavior and asked with concern, "What’s wrong?"

Ruby smiled, "It’s nothing, just...it feels a bit unreal."

"Don’t worry, caring about someone is written on one’s face. I’ve never seen the way Mr. Sterling looks at you." Mama Bennett said with a chuckle, truly hoping Ruby could find happiness.

Ruby only smiled, not continuing the topic. The matters between her and Ethan, who could see clearly besides the two of them? After all, they weren’t a naturally developed normal couple, so they could only hope that ties bound by interests were a bit more reliable.

After all, there are no eternal friends, but there are eternal interests.

On the other side, father and son in the car were also discussing the matter.

Seth was very concerned about when his father would hold the wedding. He had looked it up on his phone; women all anticipate weddings, "It’s just a pity that Honey is sick, we’d better not hold the wedding abroad." Sitting in his child seat, he propped one hand in front of him, the other on his chin, sighing seriously.

Ethan didn’t hear clearly what he was mumbling in the back, so he asked.

"It’s nothing." Seth paused for a moment and then said, "Congratulations, Dad."

Ethan smiled slightly, "Congratulations to both of us."

"However, I still want to get a bone marrow test done. I’m afraid Honey won’t hold on until a few years from now when I grow up."

"No, you’re still too small. Extracting bone marrow might affect your body, and there’s almost zero chance of a match since you’re not blood-related to Honey." Ethan frowned, sternly rejecting his proposal.

Seth pursed his lips indifferently, "For me, it might just have an impact, but it concerns Honey’s life; I think it’s worth the risk."

"I said no, and it’s not up for discussion. Don’t even think about it." Ethan’s tone grew heavier.

Sometimes he felt his son was too mature for his age—he might secretly go and get the test done himself. He had to deter him.

"Got it." Seth pouted, but he also understood the seriousness of the matter and couldn’t help muttering, "Dad, are you so opposed because I’m your biological son and Honey isn’t your biological daughter?"

Ethan was startled, then he smiled bitterly, "Of course not. Even if it were reversed, with Honey as my biological daughter and you not as my biological son, I would still oppose it. I’m your dad; I need to be responsible for your health."

"Alright then." Seth acknowledged but couldn’t help worrying about Honey. He really liked this sister, despite her silly nature and clinginess, just a clueless little child. But she always smiled at him, and her smile made her look quite pretty, making him feel good being with her.

He didn’t want anything to happen to her.

When the Sterling father and son got home, Rachel Lawson immediately came over and hugged her grandson with a smile, "Go wash your hands, it’s time to eat."

At the dining table, Ethan ate casually as he announced, "Wenny and I got married."

Rachel, who was serving Seth some prawns, paused suddenly and tilted her head to look at her son, "What did you just say?"

Leon Sterling also froze, focusing intently on him.

Ethan swallowed the rice in his mouth, put down the bowl, and said again, "Wenny and I got married; we registered yesterday."

Rachel hadn’t reacted when suddenly there was a loud "bang" that startled her.

It was Leon who had slammed his bowl on the table. He abruptly stood up, glared coldly at Ethan, and said in a deep voice, "I’m full." He then left the dining room and went to his room.

Rachel swallowed hard, knowing why her younger son was angry. Thinking about what she had said to Ruby Sullivan yesterday, she didn’t really mind their marriage, "When are you planning to hold the wedding?"

"Haven’t decided yet." Ethan withdrew his gaze from where Leon had left.

Rachel sighed, thinking that her two sons were natural rivals. How did they both end up falling for the same woman?

She forced herself not to get annoyed and said absentmindedly, "The wedding should be done properly, but since your grandmother passed away not long ago, it shouldn’t be too extravagant."

"Keep it simple then." Ethan thought about his brother’s situation and felt a bit heavy-hearted.
