Chapter 1274: Chapter 1273: Distracted
Originally, Ye Qiu didn’t want to get involved in this matter, because it had nothing to do with him. Unexpectedly, someone dared to threaten him.
He was definitely going to get to the bottom of this before returning home.
After looking at the letter, Lin Yazhong said, “Dr. Ye, I’ll hold onto this letter for now.”
Since someone wanted his life, Lin Yazhong was definitely going to investigate it thoroughly. What surprised him even more was that the other party dared to threaten even Ye Qiu, making it even more necessary to find out the truth.
Just as breakfast was about to be prepared at the Lin Family, the Lin Family’s butler invited Ye Qiu and Lin Yazhong to have breakfast. Upon arriving, Ye Qiu found that, much like the night before, many members of the Lin Family were having breakfast there.
“Dr. Ye, shall I take you to see downtown Kuala Lumpur!” Lin Xiang said.
“Alright, let’s go have a look!”
During the meal, Ye Qiu examined the expressions of the Lin Family members and, for the time being, couldn’t spot anyone suspicious.
The saying goes, the face mirrors the soul’s voice. By observing someone’s eyes, Ye Qiu could usually discern most of their thoughts.
After finishing his breakfast, Lin Xiang drove up in her car, a Malaysian Proton sports car, which looked quite decent.
When Ye Qiu got into the car, Lin Xiang put on sunglasses and a hat, and they left right away. Lin Yazhong initially wanted to remind Lin Xiang to drive carefully, but realized she’d already driven off.
On the road, Lin Xiang didn’t drive very fast, mainly because the penalties for being caught speeding here are quite severe. After all, this country is somewhat different from others.
Lin Xiang first drove Ye Qiu to her university, the University of Malaya, which is the most famous university in Malaysia. When they arrived and parked at the University of Malaya, Lin Xiang said, “This is the university I attend. I actually had class, but I asked for leave.”
“Isn’t today Sunday?”
“But I have class tomorrow.”
However, for wealthy kids like them, skipping class wasn’t a big deal. Although Lin Xiang wasn’t there just for the degree, even if she didn’t get her diploma, she wasn’t worried.
Lin Xiang showed Ye Qiu around the University of Malaya, and Ye Qiu found the environment decent and the campus large. But compared to Jinling University, it was far behind, as Jin University is among the top-ranked institutions in the nation.
“How do you like it?”
Lin Xiang asked.
“It’s alright!”
Ye Qiu noticed that the morning sun was getting hotter, likely around thirty degrees.
Ye Xue thought it would be cold here, so she told Ye Qiu to bring a jacket. In hindsight, Ye Qiu thought, his sister cared too much but wasn’t aware of the situation in other countries.
Lin Xiang was dressed in light summer clothing, wearing sunglasses and a hat. Her skin certainly didn’t appear as fair as those beauties back home, likely due to the environmental conditions here.
However, wherever clothes covered, her skin was indeed very fair.
“It’s like this all year round, hot and humid, and the sun tans the skin,”
Lin Xiang explained when she noticed Ye Qiu looking at her.
Even though she used high-end sunscreen, it was ineffective; her skin still got a wheat-colored tan. After showing Ye Qiu around for over half an hour, Ye Qiu noticed that everyone looked about the same.
“Isn’t it fun here?”
Seeing Ye Qiu wasn’t very enthusiastic, Lin Xiang asked curiously.
“Just looking around.”
In truth, the soul consciousness Ye Qiu had absorbed already included information about Maria University, though there were more buildings and greenery now.
“Let me take you to try some food, then.”
Lin Xiang suggested.
Although they had just finished breakfast, Ye Qiu wasn’t really hungry. Still, Malaysia is a multicultural country with diverse culinary traditions, making tourism very developed, and there are plenty of food options.
Lin Xiang drove Ye Qiu to the pedestrian street in the old downtown area of Kuala Lumpur for a meal.
Along the way, Ye Qiu realized the vast array of food available; it seemed like this area, due to its tropical rainforest climate, offered an abundance of fruits, animals, and insects. There were many varieties, such as spiders, centipedes, and snakes, often used in liquors or deep-fried dishes.
Ye Qiu felt a bit nauseous despite having seen similar things back home. Unexpectedly, there were so many here; he thought Lin Xiang wanted to eat those, but Lin Xiang said, “I don’t eat any of that, but many tourists love it and even buy some to take home.”
When Ye Qiu saw thick venomous snakes being submerged into large jars of wine, he felt uncomfortable.
Yet, he understood why black magic was so prevalent in this region; the number of poisonous creatures was remarkable.
These snakes and insects themselves were naturally toxic, and if processed into medicinal powders for ingestion, it would likely cause incidents.
Lin Xiang took Ye Qiu to a spot focused on Cantonese cuisine, likely brought over by early generations of immigrants, and it remained prominent ever since.
Kuala Lumpur isn’t densely populated, so its city center isn’t extensive, and it’s expanding towards nearby Putrajaya. As a result, this old city area wasn’t redeveloped like in domestic cities, where old buildings were replaced by skyscrapers.
Now, it looked similar to those back home.
Lin Xiang led Ye Qiu into a Hong Kong-style restaurant, where the aroma of roasted duck and goose greeted them, truly enticing.
“The roast goose here is delicious, I often come with my classmates,”
After Ye Qiu and Lin Xiang sat down, a waitress approached.
“Miss Lin, would you like an order of roast goose?”
“An order is a whole goose!”
It sounded like a lot, but the roast goose wasn’t very large, just about four to five pounds per goose, and once deboned, there wasn’t much left.
“Let’s start with one order.”
After the waitress left, Lin Xiang noticed Ye Qiu seemed preoccupied, not knowing what he was thinking.
Lin Xiang believed that although she wasn’t extraordinarily pale, she wasn’t short and had decent looks. Most importantly, she came from a prominent family. Yet, in front of Ye Qiu, whether in Jin University or Malaysia, she couldn’t muster any arrogance.
She noticed Ye Qiu’s simple attire.
This puzzled Lin Xiang.
Undoubtedly, Lin Xiang felt that Ye Qiu was disrespecting her.
“If you’re not in the mood to go out, I can take you back afterward,”
Lin Xiang suggested.
Seeing Lin Xiang’s slightly angry and upset expression, it was clear what this young lady was thinking.
