CHAPTER 142: EROTICA NOVEL (1)

Georgia’s POV

Oliver and Ella left first, but not without giving me reminders. Oliver promised he’d stop by my office tomorrow to go over the case, while Ella asked me to come by her house after work to see the proposal she mentioned.

I was so preoccupied with my situation that I forgot to get back to Ella to tell me what Liam was really doing in my house after I got distracted with a phone call.

I am convinced that there’s something going on with those two.

After they left, I went upstairs to put Katie to sleep. Nick and Liam stayed behind, talking in the living room while Wendy finished tidying up.

It didn’t take long for Katie to drift off. I noticed she was already asleep when her small breaths deepened against my shoulder, and once she was settled, I slipped out quietly.

Back downstairs, Nick was still with Liam, so I decided to shower and change into my pajamas before checking again. By the time I heard the sound of a car pulling away, I figured Liam had left.

When I came down, Nick was alone, his attention buried in his laptop. I hesitated, not wanting to disturb him, but curiosity tugged at me.

"Nick..." My voice came out soft, almost uncertain. "Aren’t you going home?"

He looked up at me with that wicked smirk that always sent my pulse racing, then extended his hand. I placed mine into his without hesitation, and he tugged me down onto his lap.

"Getting tired of me already?" he teased, his tone deep and playful.

"Of course not," I answered quickly, my body instinctively leaning into his warmth. "I just wanted to know your plan... so I can lock up the house."

He lifted my hand and brushed his lips across my skin, slow and deliberate. "Can I stay here tonight? I brought clothes in the car. I can head straight to work in the morning."

My chest tightened as my pulse beat faster. I am already imagining the things he would do to me if he stays. "Sure," I murmured. "Get your things while I lock the back door. Lock the front when you come back."

By the time I returned, after the windows were secured and the doors locked, the sight that greeted me stole my breath.

Nick sat on the sofa, laptop glowing on the table before him. His body lounged in nothing but a pair of boxers, muscles taut and tempting under the soft light. A large suitcase sat beside the sofa.

"Just how many clothes did you bring?" I asked, unable to hide the amusement in my tone.

"Good for a week, maybe," Nick replied casually, his eyes still locked on the laptop screen.

My brows rose. "Are you planning to stay here for a week?"

The thought made my chest flutter. I had never lived with a man before—not even Raymond. Despite being my only ex, I never spent nights in his house.

The idea of Nick staying here felt strangely comforting. It wasn’t just about security. It was the pull of wanting him close, the way his presence silenced the chaos in my mind.

Leaving with him on the island was entirely different from living with him in a real house, since it was for survival anymore.

Finally, he turned his head, that familiar smirk curving his lips. "I want to. We can play house," he said, voice low and teasing. "I’ll be the father, you the mother, and Katie our child. Perfect little family, hm?"

I couldn’t help but laugh, my heart skipping. "Fine, you can stay as long as you like. But aren’t you going to sleep yet?"

"Not yet. I need to finish this before bed. You go ahead, I’ll follow."

I leaned down to kiss his cheek, intending to slip away, but his hand shot up, pulling me back onto his lap. The next second, his mouth crashed against mine—hungry, hot, claiming. His tongue swept into me, drawing out a soft moan I couldn’t hold back.

By the time he pulled away, his breath was ragged, his eyes dark and heavy with restraint. "Go upstairs," he ordered huskily, his lips brushing mine. "Before I lose control and keep you up all night. If you stay, I won’t finish my work... I’ll only finish you."

Heat pooled low in my belly, my legs suddenly weak. I managed a laugh to mask how much I wanted to stay and tempt him further. I stole one last quick kiss against his cheek before whispering, "Goodnight," and slipping away toward my room—though every part of me ached to run back into his arms.

I tossed and turned, unable to sleep no matter how hard I tried. With a sigh, I reached for one of the erotica books Ella had shoved into my hands back when Raymond proposed to me. "Educate yourself before the honeymoon," she had said with a cheeky grin.

Back then, those books had made me blush and—ironically—fall asleep. But tonight... it was different. Every page burned against my skin, every scene reminded me of Nick. The way he touched me like I belonged only to him. The way his lips claimed every inch of my body. The way he filled me until I forgot my own name.

God, this was not working.

Instead of making me sleepy, my body throbbed with need. My panties clung damp against me, my mind drowning in Nick’s voice, Nick’s hands, Nick’s heat. Frustrated, I snapped the book shut and muttered under my breath, "Damn it, Ella."

Needing a distraction, I padded down the hall to my brother’s old room, searching through his shelves for something dull enough to bore me into slumber. After minutes of rummaging, I finally found an old, dusty novel. Perfect.

But when I walked back into my bedroom, my breath froze in my throat.

Nick was sitting on my bed.

Not only that—he was holding that book. The erotica novel. His head tilted slightly, his strong fingers fanned over the pages, and his eyes were fixed on the words with an intensity that sent a violent shiver through me.

That look... it was the same one he wore when he was buried deep inside me. Hungry. Dark. Dangerous.

And then his gaze lifted from the book—straight into mine.
