Georgia’s POV

I nodded right away. "Of course. I’d actually like that. I want to get to know her again." I smiled, then shrugged a little. "And don’t worry about me, I’ll probably just sleep here while you’re gone. Do what you need to do."

I poked at the cheesecake on my plate, my tone softening. "Actually... I want to get to know everyone I’ve forgotten. I looked through the photos and videos on my phone—and on social media too," I admitted, glancing at him. "I looked so happy in all of them. Seeing everyone earlier, even if I couldn’t remember the details... it felt warm. Like my mind forgot, but my heart didn’t."

Nick went quiet for a moment, then asked in that deep, teasing tone that made me nervous for no reason, "Does that include me?"

My fork froze halfway to my mouth. I looked up—and there it was. That gaze. Steady. Intense. Like he was seeing straight through me.

Nick laughed, the kind of laugh that made his shoulders shake and his eyes crinkle at the corners. "Uh-huh, sure. It’s the wings." He reached for the cold water bottles, placed them in his palms to chill them, then gently pressed them against my cheeks. "Here, this should cool you down."

And just like that, my brain forgot how to function. I stared at him—really stared straight into his eyes. I can’t explain it, but I felt an invisible force pulling me towards them.

Raymond had that clean, sophisticated, polished look—refined, like a man who spent too much time on the mirror. But Nick? He was rougher around the edges, rugged, masculine in the kind of way that made you think of leather jackets and trouble, a true thug in the alley. He looked like someone who could ruin your life and make you thank him for it.

So why him? Out of all people, why did this man make my heart skip like it was running a marathon?

"Why are you staring at me like that?" he asked, leaning closer with that infuriating smirk. "Are you finding me handsome? Or are you falling for me all over again?"

I scoffed but couldn’t hold back a laugh. "Funny. I was actually wondering what on earth happened that I lost my mind and fell in love with you—which also, apparently, led to marriage."

Nick chuckled lowly. "You shouldn’t ask questions like that, baby. You might regret hearing the answer."

Now I was curious. "Tell me then—what did you do to make me agree to marry you? Did you blackmail me?" I asked, squinting playfully at him.

But then his smile shifted—slowly, dangerously—into something darker. My stomach fluttered, and not entirely from fear.

Oh boy. That doesn’t look good.

"Let me show you," he said, voice low and teasing.

I blinked once—and the next thing I knew, his hands were already on my waist, pulling me close. And before I could even catch my breath, his lips captured mine. Stealing my breath away.
