Chapter 77: I Fight for Mine
CHAPTER 77: I FIGHT FOR MINE
"Nick..." Georgia’s voice cracked as she slowly sat up, trembling hands wiping away the tears streaking her face.
Nick stood in front of her, still dressed in the pristine naval uniform he wore earlier that day, the same one meant for their wedding. The stark white of it clashed painfully against the chaos and ruin now laid out before him.
And Georgia... Her gown was torn, both the skirt and the back of her tube top ripped open, exposing her like prey after a violent hunt.
Nick’s breath hitched, his jaw ticking. He moved fast, unbuttoning his uniform, and in a heartbeat, he draped it around her bare shoulders, shielding her. Protecting her.
His hands were trembling. But his voice, when it came, was steady and soft. "Are you okay? Did he hurt you?"
"I’m fine," she whispered, shaking her head, even though her body said otherwise.
That’s when Nick saw the vivid red mark blooming across her cheek.
His hand lifted with unbearable gentleness, tilting her chin to the side. His fingertips grazed the bruise, and for a moment, time stopped.
"Did he do this?" he asked, his voice deathly calm.
But his eyes... his eyes weren’t calm at all.
They burned. His murderous gaze was back.
Georgia placed her hand over his. "Let’s go. Please. Just take me away from here."
Nick exhaled heavily, torn. "Not until I make that bastard pay."
"No, Nick..." she tugged at him as he began to rise. "Please, let it go. I’m fine, let’s leave. Please..."
But Nick had already turned.
His gaze locked on Raymond, who had staggered upright, blood trickling from his temple, his unbuttoned shirt ruined, his face contorted with fury and humiliation.
Raymond shook his head, trying to clear the fog. His eyes landed on Nick and narrowed.
"How the hell did you get in here?!" Raymond bellowed, his voice cracking with disbelief. "GUARDS!"
There was only silence.
No footsteps. No reinforcements.
Nick’s lips curled into a slow, mocking smirk. "No one’s coming, Raymond. Maybe try calling Daddy, if you’re still that spoiled little coward hiding behind a last name."
Raymond let out a bitter laugh, stepping forward. "Coward? That’s rich, coming from the man who slept with another man’s fiancée and murdered her brother. You’ve got balls showing up here."
The corner of Nick’s mouth curled into a smirk. "Oh, so Georgia told you about our little adventure in paradise, you must be jealous."
Then his eyes flared. "That’s the difference between you and me. I don’t need a last name to earn power; I fight for mine. You? You just buy your way out. A puppet in a suit who thinks being born rich is the same as being strong."
"Get the fuck out!" Raymond roared, launching forward and slamming both hands into Nick’s chest.
Nick barely staggered. "Not until I return the pain you gave my bride."
His fist crashed into Raymond’s jaw with the force of years of held-back fury.
Raymond reeled, spit and blood flying from his mouth. He retaliated, growling, "She’s not your bride, you delusional bastard! She’s my fiancée! And you—YOU—are the killer of her brother!"
Nick’s eyes turned deadly cold. "Then you’ll understand when I say this... I’ll fucking kill you next."
With a roar, the two collided, fists flying, grunts filling the room as they crashed against furniture, knocking over a lamp, breaking glass.
"Nick! Raymond! Stop it!" Georgia screamed from the sofa, her voice desperate, shaking.
They didn’t hear her.
They were two storms in Fujiwara effect, clashing, fists pounding flesh, until blood and rage blurred everything.
"Georgia!"
Her head snapped to the door.
Vicky rushed in, eyes wide in horror, immediately kneeling beside Georgia and helping her up. Behind her, Oliver stormed in with a squad of armed officers.
"Break it up! Now!" one of the officers shouted.
Two men grabbed Nick. Another pinned Raymond down.
"That’s enough!" another barked, flashing a warrant.
"Mr. Raymond Davis, you are under arrest for kidnapping, assault, and grave threats."
Raymond’s bloodied face twisted in disbelief. "You have got to be fucking kidding me! Arrest him! He trespassed! He broke into my suit! He—he assaulted me!"
But the officer didn’t flinch. He cuffed Raymond’s wrists tightly behind his back as another read him his rights.
"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law..."
Nick wiped the blood from the corner of his lips, the adrenaline still pulsing through him. He walked toward Georgia. His arm slipped protectively around her waist as they both turned to face Raymond, who was still struggling, still shouting, while restrained by two officers.
"She’s my fiancée!" Raymond barked, veins bulging on his neck. "I didn’t kidnap her! This is a goddamn misunderstanding!"
But Oliver stepped forward without blinking, phone in hand. He tapped the screen, and the video from the island played loud and clear; Georgia being dragged, Raymond’s threats echoing in the background, his assault undeniable.
"That looks like a misunderstanding to you?" Oliver said coolly. "It’s all here, Raymond. Kidnapping. Assault. Coercion. You are done."
"You—!" Raymond exploded, face red with fury. "You’ll regret this, Oliver! My lawyer’s gonna bury you! You son of a bitch!"
Oliver only smirked. "See you in court, Mr. Davis. Though I doubt you’ll make it there. Your overpriced lawyer will beg you to settle—because this? This is a guaranteed loss. Better come up with a nice fat offer for Ms. Lewis and Captain Knight... while you rot in a cell."
He gave Raymond a mocking little wave as the officers dragged him away, still cursing and resisting.
Then Oliver turned to Nick and Georgia. His expression softened. "You two need to rest. Leave the rest to me. If Raymond wants out fast, his team will probably reach out tomorrow for a settlement."
"Thank you... really," Georgia said, her voice soft but full of gratitude.
Oliver raised an eyebrow, then gave Nick a pat on the shoulder—right where Raymond had landed a hard hit. Nick winced, and Oliver chuckled darkly.
"Don’t thank me," Oliver said. "Thank this guy. He orchestrated the whole thing. One move—and he solved all your problems."
Georgia blinked, turning to Nick. "Solved? All my problems? What do you mean?"
Nick didn’t answer. Instead, Vicky cut in, already switching into mom-mode. "Let’s get you two to your suite first. You both need to clean up and get into fresh clothes before we talk about anything."
Just as Georgia started to nod, Nick bent down and scooped her up, effortlessly, into his arms.
She gasped. "Nick! What the heck! Put me down, I can walk!"
"I know you can," he murmured against her temple. "But I won’t let you. Not like this. Not while your dress is torn, and you’re still trembling."
Her heart skipped a freaking beat.
Nick turned to Vicky without missing a beat. "Which room?"
Vicky gave him a knowing smile. "Presidential suite. Come on, follow me."
Nick carried Georgia through the hallway like she was the most precious thing in the world, wounded and shaken... but finally safe in his arms.
