CHAPTER 293: CHAPTER 293: HOW COULD IT BE SUCH A COINCIDENCE?

Fake... fake?

How could her passport possibly be fake!

Ji Wei took the passport, opened it, and saw that although the information inside was hers, the paper had a distinctly poor quality feel to it. It was clear that someone had used her passport as a template.

Yesterday, while packing her luggage, Ji Wei only glanced at the cover of the passport and didn’t examine it closely.

She hadn’t expected someone to swap it out!

Who could this person be?

The security at Shanshui Manor is top-notch; there’s no way anyone could easily replace her passport.

Ji Wei suddenly thought of someone, but she immediately dismissed the notion.

No, impossible, absolutely impossible... How could it be him!

After receiving Ji Wei’s call, Xia Duoduo rushed to the airport.

Ji Wei was sitting in the waiting area, holding her face in her hands, her head resting on her knees, looking utterly defeated.

It was the first time Xia Duoduo had ever seen her like this. She walked over, sat down beside her, and reached out to embrace her shoulder. "Ji Xiaowei, I’m here now. Don’t be upset."

Ji Wei lifted her head, her eyes red. "Duoduo, did you bring your passport?"

"I did." Xia Duoduo took her passport out of her bag and handed it to Ji Wei.

"Thank you." Ji Wei managed a weak smile.

"Are you really planning to use my passport to leave the country? Why doesn’t he want you to go along? Something about this feels off..." Xia Duoduo had heard most of the story over the phone, though Ji Wei didn’t tell her about the dangers of this trip.

Ji Wei gripped the passport tightly, stayed silent for a moment, then suddenly asked:

"By the way, where’s Ye Cheng? Won’t he be angry with you for running off like this?" Ji Wei asked tentatively.

Xia Duoduo replied, "Don’t worry, he’s gone to France on a business trip and won’t be back for a week. Finally, I don’t have to deal with his nagging and can take it easy for once."

A business trip to France? What a coincidence.

Although Ji Wei felt suspicious, she didn’t show it. Instead, she asked, "When does your new show start filming?"

"In a couple of days, I’ll join the crew."

Ji Wei grabbed her hand. "Do your best with this show, Duoduo. I think this time you’ll make an even bigger name for yourself in the entertainment industry."

With that, she stood up.

Xia Duoduo looked at her in surprise. Why did this feel like a farewell message? It’s just a trip to Japan, right?

She asked, "Are you leaving now?"

Ji Wei looked at the flight information board in the distance and shook her head slowly. "No, I’m not leaving today. I have to go somewhere first."

"Where? I’ll go with you."

Ji Wei refused. "You’re about to join the crew soon, so I’m sure you have lots to take care of. Plus, it’s no big deal—I’m just meeting someone."

Ji Wei left the airport, took a cab to a certain location, and then headed to the Xi Family estate.

Xi Nanfeng rarely went to the office himself. At that moment, he was at home playing with his Labrador. When a servant came in to inform him that a Miss Ji wanted to see him, Xi Nanfeng raised an eyebrow and immediately guessed who it was.

"Let her in," he said.

Xi Nanfeng instructed the servant to take the dog out to the garden for a walk.

When Ji Wei entered, she saw Xi Nanfeng lounging on the sofa with his legs crossed, looking completely relaxed and at ease.

"Second Young Master Xi sure knows how to enjoy life, refusing to bury himself in endless paperwork and company affairs," Ji Wei said, stepping into the living room and walking toward him.

"Of course. Someone with my personality can’t be drowned in mundane trifles."

Xi Nanfeng uncrossed his legs and sat up straight, looking at Ji Wei. "Little Weiwei, have a seat."

Ji Wei sat down on the single-seater sofa next to him as he had suggested.

"Let me guess, you’re here because of Old Mo, aren’t you?"
