CHAPTER 502: CHAPTER 502 UNFORTUNATELY, YOU SLEPT TOO DEEPLY LAST NIGHT FOR ME TO PLAY ANY TRICKS.

Ji Wei, however, had a few people in mind.

In the entertainment circle, she and Duoduo hadn’t offended many people.

Whether it was Jin Xuan’er or Xiao Zhen, both were once wildly popular stars with a large following. Jin Xuan’er had become notorious after being caught by reporters on a cruise ship engaging in scandalous behavior with Huo Yan.

As for Xiao Zhen, he’d been humiliated last time at the Wells Club, so he might be seeking revenge.

And then there’s...

Zimei.

Zimei and Xia Duoduo both liked Ye Cheng. Maybe Zimei had thought about making Xia Duoduo back off.

But the likelihood of Zimei harming Duoduo was low. Lately, her relationship with Ye Cheng seemed to have thawed. A clever woman like her was even less likely to do something foolish during such a time.

Just as Ji Wei was pondering, the bathroom door was pushed open.

She looked up at the sound, only to see Gu Moqian coming out in a bathrobe, his short, wet hair dripping as he towel-dried it.

The robe’s neckline hung slightly open, revealing his firm and fair chest, momentarily making Ji Wei freeze.

She could never get tired of admiring Gu Moqian’s physique.

Gu Moqian stepped forward, surprised she was up so early. Seeing her staring dazedly at him, he felt playful. He curled his finger and, without warning, flicked her forehead.

"Ow, that hurt!"

Ji Wei pressed her forehead in pain, glaring at him in mock anger. "You’re such a rascal!"

Gu Moqian smirked mischievously and admitted, "I am bad, indeed. Too bad you were sleeping so deeply last night—I couldn’t be bad even if I wanted to."

His words successfully spun Ji Wei’s thoughts off track.

Making such suggestive jokes first thing in the morning...

"I can’t talk to you anymore!"

Ji Wei buried her head under the blanket to conceal her flustered nerves.

Gu Moqian’s smile deepened, and he sat down by the bed, leaning closer with a low chuckle. "Why are you hiding? Trying to be a turtle?"

Ji Wei pouted angrily, raising her head and punching him lightly. "I’m not a turtle!"

Seizing the moment, Gu Moqian caught her soft hand. Moments later, his expression grew serious as he asked, "Is your stomach feeling better? Do you still feel like throwing up?"

His abrupt change in tone caught Ji Wei off guard. After a slight pause, she replied, "It’s fine now."

"Do you need me to grab you something to eat?"

"Not hungry for now," Ji Wei shook her head.

"That’s good. You’ll need to stay fasting for the bloodwork later during the checkup."

At the mention of fasting bloodwork, Ji Wei shivered, her face turning a shade paler.

"Mo Qian, you’re joking, right? I’m perfectly fine—I don’t need any checkup."

He must be teasing her.

She was perfectly healthy!

Gu Moqian looked at her seriously and said, "You were vomiting so much last night. Do you know how worried I was?"

His solemn tone made Ji Wei feel a lump in her throat, unable to respond.

She hadn’t considered Gu Moqian’s feelings when she felt unwell last night and had fallen asleep right after. Thinking back now, he must have been truly concerned.

"I need to confirm your health is fine, so I can feel at ease." Gu Moqian held her hand as he spoke.

Ji Wei met his eyes full of concern and couldn’t find any rebuttal. Quietly, she nodded.

"Good girl. I’ll go with you later; there’s no need to be scared." Gu Moqian gently patted her head.

"The checkup... does it definitely involve bloodwork?"

Ji Wei bit her lip, voicing her worry.

She had always had a fear of blood tests.

Back in college, a trainee nurse had punctured the wrong vein on her wrist, poking five or six times to no avail. It hurt so much that Ji Wei had wanted to smash her head into a wall. Ever since, she had been petrified of nurses holding needles.

"Yes, it probably will."

Her face instantly turned pale.

Recalling Ji Wei’s fear of pain, Gu Moqian couldn’t help but reassure her in a soft voice. "Don’t worry—I’ll be with you the whole time. If it hurts, just bite me."
