CHAPTER 620: CHAPTER 620: DID YOU HIDE HER?
"Not eating." Mo Qian turned the steering wheel with his long fingers, saying disdainfully.
"Such a delicious thing, and you still despise it. No wonder you’ll never enjoy good food—"
*Thud!*
In the blink of an eye, the roasted sweet potato Xi Nanfeng was holding was thrown out the window. His eyes widened, fury rising from his chest: "You ungrateful bastard, Old Mo, you’ve got some nerve!"
"If you cause any more trouble, I’ll throw you out of the car too." The other man coolly tossed out this line.
Xi Nanfeng was livid. He turned his head away, not wanting to look at Mo Qian for even a second.
Not long after, the Maybach pulled up at the entrance of Zimei Club.
The club’s main doors were tightly shut, and there wasn’t a soul in sight.
Mo Qian had been here more than once and knew there was a back entrance.
He took long strides toward the back door, while Xi Nanfeng, still mourning the loss of his roasted sweet potato, followed behind with a face full of resentment.
At the door, the black-clad bodyguards blocked their way.
"This is a private residence. No trespassing!" barked a bodyguard with a slightly ferocious-looking face.
"I’ve got a belly full of fire and nowhere to vent it, and you’ve got the guts to block my way? Let me show you what a fist tastes like!" Xi Nanfeng rolled up his sleeves and, without another word, slammed a punch into the bodyguard’s face.
The bodyguard groaned in pain, clenching his fist in anger, ready to retaliate, but his companion held him back.
"Mr. Gu, Boss Zi isn’t inside. You’d better leave." This man recognized Mo Qian and spoke far more respectfully than the fierce-looking bodyguard.
"Since I’ve come all this way, I’m not leaving empty-handed." Mo Qian said indifferently.
The man wanted to say more but saw a young man hurriedly approach. Leaning close to the bodyguard’s ear, he whispered, "Mr. Hu said to let them in."
The punched bodyguard glanced at the two men, grudgingly stepping aside.
"Mr. Gu, Second Young Master Xi, please follow me," the young man said respectfully, leading the way ahead.
In the living room, Lu Shanhu, seated on the sofa, heard the sound of footsteps. He slowly lifted his eyelids, his voice resonant as he ordered the servant, "Sister-in-law Li, serve tea."
The servant quickly turned and went to prepare tea.
Seeing Mo Qian and Xi Nanfeng still standing, Lu Shanhu said in a deep voice, "Have a seat."
"No need." Mo Qian replied coldly, "I have a few questions for you, Mr. Hu. Once I’m done, I’ll leave."
Lu Shanhu lowered his gaze, focusing on the jade thumb ring on his finger. When he raised his eyes again, his expression was unreadable. "Alright, ask."
"Where is Boss Zi now?"
Nobody expected Mo Qian’s first question to be about Zimei’s whereabouts. Lu Shanhu was momentarily taken aback. Nonchalantly, he twisted the thumb ring, let out a faint snort, and then looked up to reply, "All I can tell you is she’s not in Rongcheng. Beyond that, I have nothing to offer."
Mo Qian wasn’t surprised by Lu Shanhu’s answer.
Given Mr. Hu’s status in both the underworld and legitimate society, prying information from such a legendary figure wasn’t easy.
The servant brought the tea over at that moment, then silently retreated.
Dealing with someone like this required patience, something Mo Qian possessed in spades. But Xi Nanfeng, with his fiery temper, was a different story.
"Lu Shanhu, are you the one hiding Boss Zi? You just can’t stand her patching things up with Old Ye, can you? What does their relationship have to do with you? I can’t stand people like you, always meddling in others’ business!" Xi Nanfeng unleashed a tirade at Lu Shanhu.
Lu Shanhu’s face darkened, clearly displeased, but he did not explode immediately.
"Little Zi is my goddaughter. Everything I’ve done is for her own good." He forced down his anger, his tone cold and hard.
"For her good, my ass! You’re not her real dad or mom, so who are you to interfere in her feelings? Old Ye is so outstanding—hell, as a man, even I think he’s amazing. What could you possibly find wrong with him?" Xi Nanfeng snapped back angrily.
