Codex Null: Simulation Through Madness
Chapter 46: Inheritance Dimension (1)
CHAPTER 46: INHERITANCE DIMENSION (1)
Noel’s thoughts about the mysterious woman were many — especially with how exaggerated her explanation had sounded.
But, in the end, they all settled on a single conclusion.
Even someone that strong... couldn’t detect the Codex Null.
She had likely sensed something inside him — probably his talent — which might explain why she said his soul had begun healing faster. But that alone wasn’t something he minded.
Then came the matter of the sealed relic inside him.
He had ignored it all this time... but maybe it was finally time to start looking for information about it.
With many thoughts swirling inside his head, Noel returned to the simulation.
[Two weeks passed since that woman examined you. Both Selena and Lilith — who had grown more hysterical since then — eventually left, seemingly to gather their thoughts. And you, in turn, used that time to gather yours.]
[Knowing that you didn’t have much time left to live didn’t change anything. You intended to continue living your life to the fullest.]
’Well, either way, you’d probably die before even reaching thirty.’
Noel shook his head, as he thought.
He naturally hoped that something unexpected would happen — something to overturn this outcome. That somehow, it wouldn’t end that way.
But after going through simulation after simulation, he just couldn’t imagine himself dying naturally anymore... not peacefully... not without being killed.
[That’s why you finally called Serah, telling her it was time to repay the favor. And just a few minutes later, she appeared at your house, asking for the details.]
[You told her everything — honestly — about the inheritance dimension and the Blood Source within it that you were after. Serah looked at you meaningfully, seeming to understand something, before she asked, "Are you sure? This could shorten your life even further."]
[At her concern, you — who had already started connecting a few scattered dots and understood a little more about your condition — simply chuckled and asked when she was ready.]
[Her answer came immediately: "Now."]
[And so, you left the house with her. All those who had been guarding you... no, watching you, couldn’t do anything under Elysia’s overwhelming strength.]
[You walked with Serah through the familiar streets of Boston — the city you had lived in for more than ten years — yet at some point, it felt as if you had stepped into another world entirely.]
[You arrived at a street where no one around you appeared to be a normal human anymore, and you were taken aback by how suddenly the atmosphere had changed.]
’Is this how I can access the Hidden Society?’
’it was always under my nose, it’s just I failed, to notice it?’
Noel’s eyes gleamed at the thought.
For him, being able to connect with the supernatural world in the future was far too important.
So, getting a clue like this... was a pleasant surprise.
[Serah didn’t bother explaining the situation, and simply brought you to one of the largest buildings there — where another woman, a witch, was already waiting to greet you. She confirmed your destination: Florence, Italy, as she opened a teleportation gate.]
[Walking through that gate gave you an indescribable sensation, but when the light finally faded, you found yourself truly in Italy. And there, with Elysia’s help, you began the search for the inheritance dimension.]
[It didn’t take long to identify its location. However, although the dimension had appeared, the surrounding space hadn’t stabilized yet — so you couldn’t enter for now. Furthermore, there were already a few individuals stationed nearby, guarding the site.]
[Serah immediately recognized their affiliation — members of the Ravelli noble family — and once again turned her gaze toward you, as she said, "I finally understand why you asked for my help."]
[Now that she had grasped the situation, Serah’s curiosity only grew. And she didn’t hesitate as she began asking questions.]
["How can you already know that a dimension will appear here? How can you be sure it’s an inheritance dimension, when that should be impossible to tell this early? And how do you know that what you want is actually inside it?"]
[She looked at you seriously before asking her final question — one that lingered in the air.]
["Can you... actually see the future?"]
That’s... too close.
Noel raised an eyebrow as he thought about Serah’s question — and Serah herself.
He had expected some sort of setback when making a deal with her, but seeing her truly stand by her word brought a small smile to his face.
Reading the simulation, the part where Selena and Lilith never gave him a choice, never asked for his opinion — seemed to let him grow somewhat tired... even if he didn’t want to admit that.
[Her meaningful gaze at the enigma that was you, coupled with the joy and intrigue in her voice, didn’t bother you. Instead, you laughed and told her that a man needed to keep a secret or two — to remain mysterious and interesting.]
[Serah, agreeing completely, didn’t press further. She simply told you to wait inside the pocket dimension until the inheritance dimension was fully stabilized.]
[Despite being called a "pocket dimension," the place you entered with her felt more like an entire city — one where countless people lived and moved about.]
[You rested in the finest building there for a few days, occasionally talking with Serah, never once stopping your training. And then, finally, something happened that made you leave the pocket dimension.]
[The inheritance dimension still hadn’t stabilized, but Lilith and Selena had arrived — and a battle was nearly about to erupt.]
[You stepped in, and had an argument with them. But in the end, with Serah from the Hollow Sun cult standing at your side, they were unable to take any drastic action.]
[Time passed. And while conflicts flared up every now and then between the three women — especially between Selena and Serah — you chose not to interfere, as long as things didn’t cross a certain line.]
[Eventually, when the dimension finally stabilized, and it became clear that it truly was an inheritance dimension — with entry now possible — a clash broke out between your group and the Ravelli noble family, each side fighting for control of the inheritance.]
