CHAPTER 100: CHAPTER 100: WISHING YOU A LIFETIME OF PEACE AND SMOOTH SAILING

Eugene turned his head to look at her, his gaze landing on her phone’s WeChat conversation, "It’s fine, you go ahead and focus."

Victoria Sinclair lowered her head and typed in Angela Austin’s chat window, "If anyone causes trouble at the pharmaceutical research institute again, report it directly to the police."

Angela Austin sent two voice messages.

"There’s another piece of news, not sure if it’s good or bad."

"Our pharmaceutical research institute is changing owners. I just met the property manager, and he said the place we are renting was bought by a company for 250 million and is currently undergoing the handover process."

After listening, Victoria seriously typed, "This place is neither too small nor too large; it’s unsuitable for building a factory, too remote for a mall, and inconvenient for an office building. Which fool bought it?"

"I don’t know, I’ll ask the property manager later."

"Okay." Victoria finished typing and sent the message, put her phone back in her pocket, and gave Eugene a glance.

His handsome profile looked slightly downcast, with a distinctly sharp jawline, carved exquisitely.

The sunlight shone on him, giving him a radiant handsome appearance.

From the corner of his eye, Eugene noticed her looking at him and turned back around.

Victoria’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly looked down, shyly avoiding his gaze, "Should we go inside?"

"Okay." Eugene responded, turning and walking into the house.

Victoria hurried to follow.

When they reached the doorway, Vivian Miller ran out excitedly, smiling broadly, "Eugene, I heard you’re going to be a groomsman for Tiffany Rhodes’ wedding, is that true?"

Eugene stopped his steps, replied indifferently, "Part of the groomsmen group."

"Jenny asked me to be her bridesmaid."

Eugene nodded, not showing much reaction.

Vivian stepped forward, handing him a woven red string bracelet, "I made this Unity Knot for you."

Eugene’s gaze darkened as he looked at the small red string in her hand, remaining silent.

Victoria felt a heaviness in her heart and didn’t disturb their conversation, walking straight inside.

Upon entering, Grandma was teaching Jenny Vaughn and Tiffany Rhodes how to weave the Unity Knot, saying it was for them to wear on their wedding day.

Victoria walked over and greeted, "Grandma."

Seeing Victoria, Grandma smiled brightly, "Granddaughter-in-law, come, let Granny teach you how to weave a Unity Knot to give to your beloved, symbolizing unity and harmony."

Victoria approached.

Jenny Vaughn irritably tossed aside the string in her hand, "It’s too difficult, I won’t weave it, it’s such a hassle."

Grandma Sinclair frowned, "You child, so immature."

Tiffany Rhodes chuckled fondly, "It’s okay, I’ll weave it for you."

Jenny Vaughn giggled shyly, holding Tiffany’s arm, "You’re still the best."

Grandma sighed with a helpless smile, pulling Victoria to sit beside her, patiently teaching her to weave the Unity Knot bracelet.

Victoria learned it quickly, weaving it very finely and beautifully.

Grandma couldn’t help but admire, "My granddaughter-in-law is truly skillful, learning so well after being taught once."

Jenny Vaughn watched Victoria with a sour expression.

Grandma handed a new red string to Victoria, "I’ll teach you to weave a Peace Knot, symbolizing peace and smoothness."

"Okay." Victoria began learning earnestly again.

Shortly after, Vivian and Eugene walked over shoulder to shoulder.

Vivian tossed the bracelet she hadn’t given away onto the table, sat next to Jenny Vaughn, and picked up the bracelet in front of Victoria, "This one is so pretty, did Grandma weave it?"

Jenny Vaughn sneered.

Grandma smiled proudly, "My granddaughter-in-law wove it, she learned it quickly and well after just one lesson."

Vivian’s smile stiffened a bit as she put the bracelet back and changed the topic, chatting with Jenny Vaughn.

Tiffany also joined their conversation, talking and laughing together.

Victoria was engrossed in the Peace Knot in her hands, exuding a sense of elegance and tranquility.

Eugene sat next to Victoria, quietly watching her slender, delicate fingers weaving the small red string rhythmically, his eyes full of affectionate sentiment, gentle as water.

Grandma looked at the three laughing happily across from her, then at her quiet grandson and granddaughter-in-law beside her, the scene felt split.

Whenever she thought about her granddaughter-in-law divorcing her grandson, she couldn’t help but feel melancholic, filled with reluctance and helplessness in her eyes.

She had been worried for a long time that this day would eventually come.

She saw things very clearly; Victoria was too outstanding, her life’s goals were not invested in family, much less in men.

To her, love was just icing on the cake, not a necessity.

If back then the Sinclair Family’s parents hadn’t forced the marriage, Victoria might have never married, devoting herself entirely to pharmaceutical research.

Grandma squeezed a smile and lightly tapped Eugene’s arm, gesturing toward the Unity Knot bracelet in front of Victoria, whispering, "This is the Unity Rope your wife wove."

Eugene reached out, picking it up to take a closer look.

There was a sparkle in his eyes, clearly liking it very much.

Vivian’s face darkened as she looked angrily at Eugene, and Jenny Vaughn and Tiffany noticed Vivian’s unease, following her gaze, all looking at Eugene.

It was clear that Vivian’s Unity Rope was rejected, still thrown on the table at this moment.

While Eugene picked up Victoria’s woven Unity Rope, filled with longing desire.

Eugene gently asked Victoria, "Can you give it to me?"

Victoria looked up, taking the Unity Rope back from his palm, placing it back on the table, measuring the almost completed Peace Knot on his wrist, "This Peace Knot is for you, just a little bit more, let me finish it."

Eugene smiled faintly, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes.

Victoria concentrated for a few more minutes, tying an expandable knot, handing it to Eugene, "It’s for you, wishing you peace and smoothness in life."

Eugene was silent, the smile on his lips somewhat strained, wanting her woven Unity Knot more, but helplessly extended his clenched fist before her.

Victoria intended to place it in his palm, but Eugene wished she would put it on for him personally.

Vivian’s fist was clenched tight enough to almost grind her back teeth into pieces.

Seeing her granddaughter-in-law’s unwavering attitude, Grandma felt sorrowful.

Victoria hesitated for a few seconds, then gently put the Peace Knot string she wove on Eugene’s wrist.

The delicate and slender red string knot on Eugene’s wrist complemented his long, elegant hands, making it look particularly beautiful.

Grandma pointed to the Unity Rope Victoria had woven, "Give this one to Eugene too."

Victoria gently grasped the string, "This one wasn’t woven well, it’s too short and doesn’t fit him."

Grandma didn’t know what else to say, merely sighed gently.

Eugene said nothing, quietly staring at the Peace Knot on his wrist, his eyes glistening slightly red, a bitter smile playing on his lips.

And this red string would remain on Eugene’s wrist every day for the rest of his life, never to be removed.
