Cold War between Mr. and Mrs Vaughn: He Regretted when Divorce
Chapter 56: The "Innocent" Tea Gets the Tables Turned
CHAPTER 56: CHAPTER 56: THE "INNOCENT" TEA GETS THE TABLES TURNED
Vivian Miller was slightly surprised, "Huh? This is Eugene Vaughn’s water? I thought I had just put mine here and drank the wrong one."
She put down the bottle innocently, then flashed a broad smile and said nonchalantly, "Actually, it’s nothing. We’ve often shared the same glass of water since childhood, not distinguishing between us, it’s a habit."
Angela Austin took a breath, gave a cold laugh, "Ha ha!"
Vivian Miller looked at Victoria Sinclair, her eyes feigning innocence like a kindergartener, "Sis-in-law, you don’t mind, do you?"
Victoria Sinclair’s expression froze, feeling sour and bitter inside, unsure of what to say.
How could she not mind?
They’ve been married for two years, and as his wife, she’s never used Eugene Vaughn’s cup, let alone dared to share the same glass of water with him.
She doesn’t even have the right to be jealous, what right does she have to say she minds?
Eugene Vaughn treats this childhood friend, female secretary, much better than her.
If she minded, and Eugene Vaughn didn’t care about his carefree intimate interactions with Vivian Miller, wouldn’t she just be a clown in a one-woman show?
Victoria Sinclair pointed to the corner boxes, "There’s water over there, you can drink the new ones."
"I already drank, not thirsty now."
Vivian Miller was particularly smug, seemingly pleased with achieving some intent, turned around to the male colleague, placing a hand on his shoulder, "Anything else I can help with?"
The male colleague frowned, slowly pushed her hand away, seemingly realizing something serious, "No need, I can do it myself."
"Anyway, I’m not busy, let me help you." Vivian Miller was very enthusiastic, the male colleague was a bit overwhelmed.
Victoria Sinclair gazed at the mineral water on the table, her fists slightly clenched.
Feeling the urge to throw it away.
The overwhelming jealousy made her feel like she almost lost her identity to envy.
She took deep breaths, suppressing herself.
Turning to look at Vivian Miller again, she thought how intimately Vivian acted even with men she just met, and she’s known Eugene Vaughn for over twenty years.
How deep could their intimacy go?
Angela Austin couldn’t stand it any longer, placed one hand on her hip and walked up to Victoria Sinclair, asking weakly, "Can I drive her away? She’s really an eyesore, really annoying."
Victoria Sinclair gave a helpless smile, "Your authority only extends to driving her from our booth, not enough to eject her from the exhibition hall."
Their booth was just a few square meters, driving her out wasn’t going to accomplish anything.
Angela Austin held her breath and continued arranging exhibits.
Victoria Sinclair joined her in busying herself.
Soon, Eugene Vaughn returned to the booth and picked up his mineral water.
As he twisted off the cap, Angela Austin stood with one hand on her hip, looking at Eugene Vaughn, slightly sarcastic, "I think President Vaughn pretends to have a cleanliness fetish?"
With those words, the male colleague and Vivian Miller looked over.
Victoria Sinclair panicked, nervously tugged at Angela Austin’s clothes, signaling her not to offend Eugene Vaughn.
She just asked Eugene Vaughn for help introducing some executives from large hospitals.
If she offends him, chances are it’ll be ruined.
Eugene Vaughn frowned at the bottle, slowly put it down, politely asked with a restrained smile, "Miss Austin, what makes you say that?"
Victoria Sinclair pulled Angela Austin’s hem again, signaling with her eyes.
Angela Austin, like her, was generally a shy and reserved girl, usually not causing trouble.
Victoria considered the bigger picture in everything she did, but Angela Austin wouldn’t, she would vent dissatisfaction on the spot, even if it caused trouble.
Anyway, it’s not her husband, offending him wouldn’t cause her loss.
Angela Austin pushed Victoria Sinclair’s hand away, with a mocking tone, "Your wife at home is beautiful, fair and tender, yet you don’t so much as kiss her little mouth, and instead, you share the same bottle with another woman outside. What’s with that? An indirect kiss doesn’t become dirty?"
Victoria Sinclair just wanted to find a hole to crawl into at that moment, "Oh my god!"
Angela Austin, what are you doing?
It made her seem as if she were desperate, longing for a kiss from Eugene Vaughn.
The colleagues were listening, it’s so embarrassing!
She felt a deep shame, as if she were flying off with Angela Austin’s rebuke of Eugene Vaughn.
Eugene Vaughn’s eyes darkened coldly, slowly covered the cap of the mineral water.
At this moment, Vivian Miller rushed in front of Victoria Sinclair and Angela Austin tearfully, in a sobbing tone, "Sis-in-law, what are you doing? Is it necessary? I accidentally drank Eugene’s water earlier, it’s not on purpose, I even asked if you minded."
"If you mind, why don’t you say something? Is it not enough if I apologize to you? If you have any dissatisfaction, tell me, what does it mean to have your best friend acting so offhandedly here?"
Vivian Miller cried with great grievance, wiping her tears and sobbing, "I really didn’t expect that just because I accidentally drank someone else’s water, there’s so much malice toward a girl? What’s with saying an indirect kiss so unpleasantly? Eugene and I are just good friends, not as filthy as you think."
Other people at the exhibition gathered around.
Everyone’s eyes were on them.
Angela Austin was dumbfounded, too angry to speak.
Just like that, she was made out to be a malicious green tea girl, maliciously bullying an innocent girl?
Angela was nearly fuming to death, unable to find the proper words for rebuttal.
At this moment, Angela’s only thought was to clear Victoria Sinclair’s name, she could afford to offend Eugene Vaughn, but her best friend still loved this scumbag and surely didn’t want to leave a bad impression in his heart.
"My dissatisfaction has nothing to do with Victoria." Angela said angrily, "Vivian, don’t drag everything onto Victoria."
Vivian Miller looked even more wronged, wiping her tears, pointing at others outside the scene, "Let everyone judge, do you bully people like this?"
Angela and Victoria were both girls with very thin skin.
Their personalities were already introverted, so at this time, it was simply a social death for them.
A girl drinking someone else’s water mistakenly, in the eyes of others, is as small as a sesame seed or mung bean issue.
From this, being gossiped about, causing damage to the other’s reputation, it seemed in every way that Angela and Victoria were at fault.
At this moment, any explanation seemed pale.
Eugene Vaughn threw the water bottle into the trash bin, kept his face icy, and silently turned away.
Assistant Chen hurriedly followed.
Vivian wiped away her tears, not caring about crying anymore, and jogged after Eugene.
Victoria watched Eugene leave in a rage, her heart panicked, her hands and feet turning cold, a wave of bitterness surged in her heart, and her eyes welled up with tears.
The onlookers slowly dispersed.
The presence of the male colleague seemed particularly awkward, and he could only continue to be busy with work.
Angela walked guiltily to Victoria’s side and dejectedly apologized, "I’m sorry, Victoria, I didn’t think it would turn out this way."
Victoria’s face turned pale, an inexplicable bitterness in her heart, mixed with a slight pain, she forced a smile and shook her head, "Angela, you don’t need to feel guilty, you didn’t say anything wrong, it’s Vivian who is acting too much."
Angela looked at Victoria aggrievedly, "I really didn’t expect Vivian to be so good at making black seem white, it was clearly her... no, I’m wrong too, I shouldn’t have meddled, I caused this trouble for you. Let me explain to Eugene, it’s really just my personal dissatisfaction and has nothing to do with you."
Victoria held her hand, her voice slightly choked, "It’s really not necessary, Angela."
Her eyes were filled with tears, trying to hide them, lowering her head not wanting Angela to see, not wanting her to worry.
But she couldn’t control the bitter tears.
Her heart ached intermittently.
The relationship that had warmed up with great difficulty these past few days would probably return to how it was before.
Perhaps, the relationship would become even more strained than before.
Eugene must be very angry, right?
Thinking she and Angela teamed up to untimely bully Vivian, damaging Vivian’s reputation, spreading rumors about their "pure" friendship.
Thinking of these, her heart was both flustered and chaotic, bitterly sore.
Victoria turned her head, secretly wiped away the tears at the corners of her eyes.
Angela, seeing her like this, felt very distressed, guiltily hugging her, "I’m sorry, Victoria, I really didn’t know it would turn out this way."
The more Angela apologized, the more upset Victoria became.
She forced a smile and pushed Angela away, feigned calmness, "It’s really nothing... Let’s just get to work, he can think whatever he wants, it doesn’t matter, Vivian is very important to him, but you’re also very important to me."
Angela’s eyes reddened.
She felt both heartache for Victoria and resentment over being wronged by Vivian.
But what could she do about her resentment?
Eugene and Vivian shared the same drink without any moral boundaries, those kinds of people wouldn’t think they were at fault at all.
They would only think Angela and Victoria were making a big deal out of nothing, being unreasonable.
She was so angry!
But there was nothing she could do.
She could only compose herself and immerse in work.
