CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 89: BOUDOIR SECRETS

Eugene Vaughn looked down, glanced at his bare chest, and with a calm expression, turned to look at Victoria Sinclair.

Victoria’s eyes were shy and she hurriedly avoided his gaze, continuing to unpack the clothes from her suitcase.

Eugene placed the books neatly and picked up one that surprised him, walking toward Victoria.

He suddenly approached, and Victoria became uneasy, lowering her eyes to tidy the clothes in her hands.

"Are you feeling embarrassed or shy?" he asked softly.

Victoria slipped the clothes into the wardrobe, closed the door, and unwillingly replied, "Embarrassed."

Eugene propped himself over with one hand, leaning down to trap her against the wardrobe door.

The man was too close, his chest almost touching her cheek. Victoria’s heart palpitated; she swallowed nervously, pretending calm as she looked up to meet his eyes.

Eugene’s sexy Adam’s apple bobbed up and down, his voice deep and resonant, "Not wearing makeup not only makes you look clean and pretty but also has a benefit, which is when you blush, there’s nowhere to hide."

Victoria hastily cupped her cheeks, looking down with lowered eyes.

Eugene asked, "You’re clearly shy, so why did you say you’re embarrassed?"

Victoria didn’t want to discuss such a teasing topic with him, "You should just go back to your own room, I can handle the rest myself."

Eugene ignored her attempt at dismissal, holding the book up in front of her with interest, "Don’t you choose what you read?"

When Victoria saw the book Eugene was holding, her already flushed cheeks turned fiery hot and her heart rate quickened. Flustered and shy, she reached out to grab it, "It’s just an ordinary literary work."

Eugene raised his hand, dodging her snatch, with a teasing smile, "Jia Pingwa’s ’Fetid City,’ the ’93 version is unabridged."

Victoria looked up at the book he held high, her face flushed red with embarrassment, "We’re adults, don’t pretend to be innocent, give it back to me."

She read widely and indiscriminately, dabbling in any category; she was initially curious about why this work was so controversial and had bought the original version to read back then.

It wasn’t until after reading it that she realized how explicit it was, comparable to ’The Plum in the Golden Vase’.

Yet it was still a good literary work, only that its sexual depictions were too bold and candid.

"I’ve indeed outgrown my innocence," Eugene lowered his head nearer to her blushing face, his hoarse voice soothingly light, "Let me borrow it for a look."

"No," Victoria felt unbearably shy and refused decisively.

"So stingy?" Eugene lightly furrowed his brow.

Victoria’s face turned crimson, "I’m afraid you’ll..."

Halfway through her words, she was too shy to finish the sentence.

The intimate affairs of the bedroom were the most normal topics between married couples, but in their two years of marriage, they had never ventured into such matters. The atmosphere was awkwardly embarrassing yet subtly romantic at the moment.

Eugene’s intense gaze fixed on her flushed cheeks, "Afraid I’ll get aroused and vent it out on you?"

Victoria was too embarrassed to meet his gaze, "Anyway, you mustn’t read it."

"What if I insist?"

"No," Victoria panicked, standing on her tiptoes, pulling at his arm.

He was tall and his arms were long; with that, Victoria’s entire body pressed against his chest, tugging and jumping.

Ultimately, she still couldn’t reach.

Afraid she might fall, Eugene reached out and hooked her waist, his eyes curved with amusement, "You can’t beat me."

Victoria refused to concede, almost climbing up him to pull his arm.

Eugene couldn’t take it, with Victoria’s soft and alluring body tossing back and forth against his chest.

Before reading the book, he was already burning with desire.

He swiftly hid the book behind his back.

Victoria’s hands immediately wrapped around his waist, disregarding their close proximity, directly trying to snatch it.

Suddenly, Eugene’s other hand girdled her waist, lifting lightly.

Victoria’s feet left the ground, her body effortlessly lifted, amidst panic, she hurriedly clutched his shoulders, "What are you doing?"

Eugene turned, pinning her on the bed.

"Eugene, don’t do this," Victoria’s heart pounded like a drum, embarrassed and annoyed, pushing against his firm warm chest.

His scorching eyes were entrancing, his voice magnetic and hoarse, tenderly murmuring, "Whenever you want something from me in the future, you don’t need to snatch it. Just ask me, as long as you’re soft enough, I’d even give you my life."

Pressed under his strong body, Victoria found it hard to breathe, her heart racing, wavering for a few seconds, her light voice was like a gentle breeze, captivating in its soft plea, "Eugene, please give me back my book, okay?"

The melody-like voice, tender as water pleading.

Could even melt steel.

At the sound of ’Eugene,’ his heart softened, the word squeezed softly from his throat, "Okay."

He placed the book in Victoria’s hand, unable to tear his gaze away from her rosy face.

Victoria didn’t expect to get it back so easily.

Eugene swallowed, licking his dry lips, clearing his throat, "I’m not that lustful, just wanted to see a book you’ve read."

Victoria said, "I have other books that are better, feel free to come pick one up anytime."

Eugene’s slender fingers gently brushed the stray hairs on her face, tucking them behind her ear, his gaze tender and indulgent, "Alright, I’ll come to your room to get them when I’m free."

Victoria tightly clutched the book in her hand, "Mm."

Victoria bit her lower lip lightly, closed her eyes, turned her head, hoping he would get off her, the authentic feeling blurted out, "You’re crushing me, can you get up?"

"I just want to hold you."

Victoria’s heart softened, "But you’re so heavy."

Eugene hugged her body, turning over deftly.

Victoria ended up lying on his chest, her soft body tightly embraced by his strong arms.

She said no more, letting the man hold her.

On his chest, feeling his vigorous heartbeat, his burning body temperature, his chaotic breath.

Gradually, Victoria slowly fell asleep in his warm embrace.

This nap was undisturbed by alarms, Victoria slept until she woke up naturally.

Upon opening her eyes again, the glaring sun shone outside the balcony. Eugene was no longer in her room, and all the things in the suitcase had been laid out.

However, her luggage was gone.

——

In the following days, Victoria was overwhelmed with busyness.

Amidst the scorching summer heat, she went to see new places with an agent but declined due to high rent.

She hadn’t had time for lunch when she received a call from Angela Austin and hurriedly took the subway back to the pharmaceutical research institute.

From a distance, she saw a group of women gathered noisily at the entrance of the research institute.

As she approached, something suddenly came flying at her.

With a crisp "smack," it hit her forehead, a dull pain followed, and then the splattered egg yolk ran down her face, with a faint stench enveloping her.

She was utterly dumbfounded, completely bewildered.

"She’s the vicious sister-in-law."

"It’s her..."

Suddenly, another egg came flying.

Victoria couldn’t dodge in time, once again getting egg yolk all over her head, fragments of eggshell stuck in her hair, looking incredibly disheveled.
