CHAPTER 17: CHAPTER 17: AWOKEN BY A NIGHTMARE

Half an hour later, Laura Quincy applied light makeup, changed into a gray blazer and pencil skirt, and went out, only to see the one person she least wanted to see in the parking lot.

Sophia Turner was waiting beside Laura Quincy’s Fit, dressed head to toe in Chanel, looking out of place!

Seeing her, she called out sweetly, "Sis, I kept trying to call you but couldn’t get through, I was so worried. After all, we are family. When you face such difficulties, you should come back home!"

Laura Quincy had a cold expression. Her stepsister was the epitome of a white lotus; she acted pure and kind in front of others, yet was unbelievably sinister and malicious behind their backs.

She came looking for her, surely without good intentions!

"I don’t need your fake kindness, I’m doing just fine."

Laura Quincy tried to push past her to get to the car, but Sophia Turner blocked her, "Sis, are you dressed like this for an interview? What company would dare hire you now?"

The tone was clearly mocking.

Laura Quincy replied with a frosty voice, "It’s got nothing to do with you, move aside!"

Sophia Turner held onto her tightly, "Sis, why are you so harsh to me? I came out of genuine concern to see you."

Laura Quincy sneered, "Genuine concern? Sophia Turner, don’t think I don’t know what you’re plotting? I already said it in court last time, I’m no longer associated with you all!"

Sophia Turner looked innocent, "Sis, you really misunderstand me. Even if you don’t recognize me and Mom and Dad, we can’t not recognize you! You’re still my biological sister."

Laura Quincy felt like throwing up, taking a deep breath, "Sophia Turner, there’s no one else around, so no need to pretend to be close to me. Didn’t you come because of the news about me allegedly kidnapping the Hawthorne Family’s young master?"

Sophia Turner was not embarrassed about her intentions being exposed, she smiled instead and said, "Yes! Sister, you’re recently troubled by scandals, as a sister I naturally want to help ease your worries. Honestly, you’re quite bold! How did you know the whereabouts of the Hawthorne Family’s young master?"

After seeing the news, Sophia Turner called Laura Quincy, but couldn’t get through, suspecting that she’d been blocked.

Helplessly, she had to come find her in person.

Laura Quincy suddenly smirked wickedly, "Sophia Turner, do you think I’d tell you how to get close to Fourth Young Master Hawthorne?"

Then, taking advantage of her stunned moment, she brutally shook off her hand, opened the car door, got in, started the car, and drove away.

The actions flowed seamlessly, not giving Sophia Turner any time to react, deliberately to entice Sophia with what she most wanted to know!

Watching the car gradually disappear, Sophia Turner stomped her foot in annoyance, damn Laura Quincy! How did she do it? Why couldn’t she find even a trace of Fourth Young Master Hawthorne?

Hmph! She deserves all the criticism she’s getting!

Standing once again in front of the Aegis Group building, Laura Quincy felt quite sentimental. The security guard at the door recognized her, expecting her to cause trouble again, but she was actually called in for an interview.

He could only watch in amazement as she entered the lobby...

Laura Quincy was in a pretty good mood, took the elevator to the twelfth floor as Manager Ulman had instructed, and someone led her to the interview office.

Inside sat five neatly dressed interviewers, three men and two women.

Laura Quincy smiled politely, "Hello, interviewers!"

Then she sat down in the center chair, waiting to be questioned.
