Conquest Game: The Aloof Husband is Dangerous!
Chapter 18: Interview
CHAPTER 18: CHAPTER 18: INTERVIEW
The man on the far right looked refined and started speaking with a smile, "Please introduce yourself first."
Laura Quincy recognized the voice as Manager Ulman, the one who had called her, and she immediately felt much calmer, "My name is Laura Quincy, I graduated majoring in English and French from F University, with minors in Fiorina and Arabic..."
The woman second from the right glanced at Laura, "During work, how would you handle a situation where another woman is pestering the CEO?"
Laura was taken aback, is this considered an interview question?
Pausing for a moment, "It mainly depends on the CEO’s opinion, handling it differently based on different situations."
The woman’s eyebrow raised slightly, she had asked several people before, and most of them described how they would help the CEO out of a crisis, very few gave a response like Laura’s...
During the fifteen-minute interview, Laura handled herself with ease, not showing any stage fright, which left a favorable impression on the interviewers. The leading man nodded, "Starting tomorrow, you will work in the third translation group."
Laura was overjoyed, "Thank you, interviewers."
She didn’t notice that the woman second from the right was looking at her with a meaningful gaze.
After the interview, Manager Ulman brought Laura to the human resources department to complete the onboarding procedures. Laura couldn’t help but ask, "Manager Ulman, how many groups are there in the translation department?"
Manager Ulman paused, "Currently three."
Laura didn’t ask further, thinking to herself: The third group must be the worst, right?
After completing the onboarding procedures, Laura called her friend, Nina Pierce, to meet for dinner. Nina was happy for her after hearing she found a job.
The two agreed to meet at their usual barbecue spot, where pairing it with fried chicken and beer couldn’t be better.
"What? You’re working at Aegis Group?"
"Yes, whether that Cold-Blooded Demon King hired me out of guilt or whatever, I have no reason to refuse such a great opportunity for growth. I’ll prove my abilities through my work."
Laura raised her glass and clinked it with her friend’s, a slight smile on her lips.
Nina nodded, "That’s right! Our Laura will become an outstanding translator in the future!"
Laura’s cheeks flushed slightly, "My goals aren’t that grand! Nina, last night I threw up all over the Cold-Blooded Demon King, it felt so good!"
Nina widened her eyes in disbelief, "Last night? Didn’t you go home? Did something happen afterward that I don’t know about?"
Laura took a bite of fried chicken, "After I texted you, I was forced into a car. I thought I was getting kidnapped, but when I saw the Cold-Blooded Demon King, I understood what was going on. Throwing up on him served him right!"
Nina’s eyes sparkled with excitement, "Tell me more!"
Laura then briefly recounted what happened last night.
"Wow! That feels so good! Did he bully you?"
"No, probably because of Little Mars."
"Laura, speaking of that little boy, I really think he looks a bit like you!"
Just after Nina finished speaking, she was given a side-eye by her friend, "Can you think of something more realistic? I’ve been hanging out with you all the time, when did I have a kid? And me with that Cold-Blooded Demon King? Just the thought is impossible!"
Nina’s thoughts began to drift, she remembered the year during their sophomore summer when Laura went on a trip to Fiorina; after coming back, she mentioned going to the University of Aethelgard for a year’s exchange program. During that year, their contact was minimal, with just a few emails exchanged occasionally, and most of the time she said she was very busy.
