CHAPTER 24: CHAPTER 24: MY BOYFRIEND IS COMING BACK

The next morning, Crystal Langley, with her sharp eyes, noticed that Laura Quincy was in an exceptionally good mood and couldn’t help but gossip, "Wow! A joyful spirit truly lightens the heart!"

Laura Quincy didn’t keep her guessing, "My boyfriend is coming back from a business trip abroad soon. Of course, I’m happy!"

Crystal Langley asked in surprise, "What? Laura, you have a boyfriend? Is he also a translator?"

Laura Quincy shook her head, "No! He’s an investment analyst."

Crystal Langley exaggerated her reaction, "Wow! Such a high-end profession! How did you meet?"

Laura Quincy, in good spirits, replied, "We met once on a business trip to Port Sovereign."

Crystal Langley said with a touch of envy, "F University really does produce talent!"

Laura Quincy smiled and didn’t say much, returning to her cubicle to work. The reason she told Crystal she had a boyfriend was also to avoid some unnecessary drama and prevent everyone from spreading rumors about any improper relationship between her and the CEO.

With just one day until her boyfriend Jasper Hawthorne’s return, Laura Quincy received a notice that she had to go on a business trip to Fiorina that evening. She thought she heard wrong and, feeling dissatisfied, called the team leader’s office, only to have his secretary, Lemon, relay the exact words to her.

"Miss Quincy, did you perhaps forget the work assignment I passed on to you a few days ago in the office? Today is just a formal notification."

Laura Quincy had not anticipated that the "casual remark" she heard in the office that day would actually come to fruition. She thought the team leader was just speaking offhand, and combined with the impression that the Cold-Blooded Demon King had a prejudice against her, she didn’t think he’d be willing to take her on a business trip!

Very soon, the news that Young Master Thorne was taking assistant Laura Quincy along with the CEO on a business trip to Fiorina spread across the thirty-sixth floor. Everyone began to view Laura differently, openly saying she was lucky to encounter such a good opportunity right from the start, while some of their private comments were rather unpleasant.

Laura simply decided to ignore the chatter and went home to pack. Just as she reached the elevator entrance, she bumped into Deputy Team Leader Stella Jennings coming out, "Do your own job well, and don’t think joining the third team means you’ll soon be flying high."

She dropped this remark and left directly, not giving Laura a chance to speak.

Ridiculous! Did they all think she was really keen to go on a business trip with the Cold-Blooded Demon King?

Before boarding the plane, Laura sent a text to her boyfriend Jasper Hawthorne: Unexpected business trip to Fiorina with the boss, I’ll call you when I return.

Then, she turned off her phone.

After ten hours and forty minutes, they arrived in Aethelgard, the capital of Fiorina. For some reason, Laura suddenly felt a mix of familiarity and strangeness.

She clearly remembered spending a year living here, but why couldn’t she recall the details...

Jason Hawthorne noticed her standing there, furrowing her brows as if pondering something and couldn’t help but ask, "Miss Quincy, are you recalling something unpleasant?"

This question was a kind of probe.

Laura Quincy shook her head, "No."

She had no intention of having much conversation with Jason Hawthorne, preferring to avoid any association with him beyond necessary work exchanges!

Jason Hawthorne gave her a meaningful look and strode out of the airport.

There was a small issue when checking into the hotel; the hotel where Jason frequently stayed had only one presidential suite left, as it was tourist season and all other rooms were booked.

Laura Quincy, not giving up, asked, "Isn’t there really any extra room available? I can accept any kind."

The front desk apologized, "Sorry, there are none."
