CHAPTER 29: CHAPTER 29: NARROW ENCOUNTERS BETWEEN ENEMIES

Jasper Hawthorne had already reserved a spot, and after mentioning his name, a pretty waitress led them in. It was a window seat with a great view, allowing a glimpse of the dazzling lights outside.

Laura Quincy happily ordered a black pepper sauce fillet steak, bacon asparagus roll, and vegetable salad, while Jasper ordered a sirloin steak and pan-seared foie gras with red wine.

After all the dishes arrived, Jasper poured red wine for both himself and Laura, raising his glass, "Laura, congratulations on finding a new job!"

Laura smiled happily, "Then I wish Jasper to establish his studio soon."

She always remembered how he had said he hoped to one day establish his own studio, so he could have the autonomy to speak freely.

Jasper gave a knowing smile, so she still remembered!

Dining with someone you like naturally makes time fly by, and before they knew it, an hour had passed. Before leaving, Laura went to the restroom, not expecting to run into someone she knew.

Phoebe Turner was in a lively and stylish goose-yellow short dress today, carrying the latest Gucci handbag. When she saw Laura, she was quite astonished that a pauper could afford to dine at L’Empereur Restaurant!

"Sister!"

The familiar and somewhat mischievous voice made Laura pause, calmly turning around while inwardly rolling her eyes: What a narrow world!

She didn’t acknowledge Phoebe, and instead walked directly towards the restroom.

With many people around, Phoebe didn’t impede Laura but rather waited at the door for her. Today, she was determined to see who Laura was with, hoping to uncover something she didn’t know!

Laura deliberately stayed in the restroom for two more minutes before coming out, only to find Phoebe still waiting at the door. Laura coldly said, "Phoebe Turner, are you bored?"

Phoebe looked innocent, "I’m just concerned about my sister’s life!"

Laura sarcastically curled her lips, saying each word with emphasis, "I urge you to stop your fake concern, stop disgusting me, alright?"

Phoebe remained unfazed, "Sister, I know you have some misunderstandings about me, but I really just want to care for you."

Laura simply didn’t bother wasting words with her and walked straight ahead.

Phoebe tightened her grip on her bag and followed closely, and when she saw a man with outstanding looks and temperament approaching Laura, she knew she hadn’t followed the wrong person!

Jasper saw the displeasure on his girlfriend’s face and asked with concern, "What’s wrong?"

Before Laura could speak, Phoebe interrupted, "It’s brother-in-law, right? I’m Phoebe Turner, sister’s half-sister. Sister has some misunderstandings about me, and I hope brother-in-law can help persuade her."

Her words were sweet, and as she spoke, she subtly eyed Jasper up and down, trying to discern if he was a gentleman from a wealthy family...

Laura had no interest in wasting words with her and directly pulled her boyfriend away, knowing Phoebe was the type who clung to you more if you paid her any attention.

Of course, Phoebe wouldn’t miss such a good opportunity to mock Laura, quickly blocking their path with an innocent face, saying, "Sister, I know you were falsely accused of kidnapping the Hawthorne Family’s young master the other day and have been in a bad mood, but no matter what, we are family! If you have nowhere to live, you can move back home, dad and mom hope you return home."

Her words were full of heartfelt emotion, and the nearby bystanders thought this young girl seemed quite considerate of her sister; compared to her sister, who seemed rather unsympathetic.
