Conquest Game: The Aloof Husband is Dangerous!
Chapter 37: It’s Impossible Not to Have Personal Ties
CHAPTER 37: CHAPTER 37: IT’S IMPOSSIBLE NOT TO HAVE PERSONAL TIES
Laura Quincy sucked on her straw, her face full of worry, "Isn’t it frustrating! I don’t know what Little Mars likes, and a wealthy family like the Hawthorne Family must have seen all kinds of toys."
The two had walked through several streets without finding a suitable gift, inevitably feeling a bit defeated.
Nina Pierce suggested, "There’re still a few days left, right? Why not check online? Maybe we’ll find something novel."
Laura shook her head, "That’s not going to work, it’s too rushed to find something good, let’s keep looking!"
Nina found a bench and sat down, "Let’s take a break and gather our thoughts."
Laura sat beside her, having spent over three hours shopping without any success.
Two minutes later, Nina said, "Laura, you’ve been working at Aegis Group for over ten days now, why hasn’t Jason Hawthorne made a statement saying your kidnapping of his son was a misunderstanding!"
Laura sighed, "A man’s heart is like a needle in the sea!"
Nina chuckled twice, "Did anything happen during your business trip to Aethelgard with him?"
Laura glanced at her friend, "I have a boyfriend, okay! Besides, I have zero interest in The Demon King. Apart from work interactions, I’d rather not have any personal ties with him."
Nina laughed meaningfully, "The Demon King’s son likes you a lot, it seems impossible for you not to have personal ties with him."
Laura snorted, "It’s not as mysterious as you say! Little Mars probably just finds me a bit novel, once this phase is over, he might forget about me."
Nina shook her head, "I doubt it."
Laura stood up, "Let’s go, let’s check out the next street."
The two wandered for about half an hour before stopping at a handmade wooden goods shop. Laura immediately took a liking to a pure handmade airplane model, about 600 centimeters long, with exquisite craftsmanship and every detail lifelike, clearly taking a long time to carve.
Asking about the price, as expected!
But Laura gritted her teeth and spent two thousand bucks, after all, she quite liked Little Mars, so it’s only right to give him a decent birthday present.
At 6:50 PM, feeling relieved after buying the gift, Laura took Nina to eat at a beautifully decorated restaurant by the street.
Meanwhile, Jasper Hawthorne arrived at L’Empereur Fine Dining, booked by his parents, choosing a window seat, then asked the waiter for a bouquet of red roses in a vase. That must be the signal for the blind date!
After drinking nearly half a cup of coffee, the seat opposite was still empty. Jasper raised his hand to check the time, ten minutes had passed, and the agreed time was 7:00.
His mind couldn’t help wandering to his girlfriend Laura Quincy, every time they had plans, she’d occasionally be late, but never more than two minutes.
Feeling somewhat impatient, he checked his watch again and decided if the third Miss Jennings didn’t show in five minutes, he’d leave a note and go.
5, 4, 3, 2...
In the final minute, a girl in a pink dress walked up. With just one look, Jasper could tell she was dressed in luxury brands from head to toe, but it was undeniable, her appearance and aura were top-notch.
If scoring, she’d get a nine, similar to Laura.
"You must be Jasper Hawthorne, right?"
As soon as she spoke, her pampered young lady demeanor was unmistakably revealed.
