Jason Hawthorne didn’t say anything further, his hands clasped, a gleam of interest flickering in his deep black eyes. He had thought his nephew would be different from the rest, but in the end, he couldn’t escape temptation.

"Next Friday evening is the company’s 60th-anniversary gala. Remember to report the plan to the Old Master, and also inform the eldest and second brother."

Just as she got home that evening, Laura Quincy received a call from her father. She hesitated for two seconds but answered, "What’s up?"

"Laura, tomorrow is your birthday. Come home for dinner! Dad knows he was wrong before. No matter what, we’re still father and daughter, a family, and family should keep in touch more often..."

Victor Turner, full of fatherly love, said a whole bunch of things, mainly wanting to repair the father-daughter relationship with Laura Quincy.

"Laura, I’ve reserved dinner at ’L’Empereur’ tonight. I’ll be waiting for you downstairs at the company at half-past five."

Laura felt overjoyed, relieved that Jasper hadn’t forgotten. No matter if the figure she saw last night was him or not, couples should trust each other, right?

She nodded gladly, "Mm."

Before leaving work, she sent her father a text message, saying she’d have to work overtime and couldn’t come home for dinner, but she appreciated his thought.

Regardless of whether his invitation was sincere or not, she didn’t want to strain things too much.

Not long after, Victor Turner’s call came through. "Laura, are you having dinner with your boyfriend tonight? Why not bring him home? Your father can give you some advice."

Hearing this, Laura felt disgusted. So that’s the plan! No wonder her father called her last night; it must have been spurred by Phoebe Turner, aiming for something else entirely!

She let out a bitter smile, "No need, I really have to work overtime tonight."
