CHAPTER 102: CHAPTER 61: KIDNAPPED BY HIM (PART 1)

Though Mrs. Geoffrey is not young, she has the temperament of a child.

He frowned and patiently said, "You can’t just have a child whenever you want."

Mrs. Geoffrey responded matter-of-factly, "It’s difficult with Christine Quinn, but it should be easy with Becca!"

"Mom, it’s impossible between me and her..."

"Why is it impossible?" Mrs. Geoffrey got excited, "If you keep ignoring her, then it really will be impossible... Yesterday I talked to her on the phone. She said she’s found a secretarial job, seems to have a new boss, and will soon be leaving T City with the new boss... Son, although I don’t know what kind of person her new boss is, I can tell from her words that she really admires him. This is a dangerous sign, and I’m really afraid that Becca will just forget about you..."

He interrupted, "Mom, my phone’s out of battery. Let’s talk next time!"

"Son, son..."

He ended the call and tossed the phone aside casually.

His mother’s endless nagging still echoed in his ears. He felt fatigued and continued to rest on the sofa with his eyes closed.

"Alright, Mr. Jones, I know the weather there is colder than here, so I’ll bring a few extra clothes... Well, you should rest early too, see you tomorrow."

Rebecca Quentin seriously looked at Aunt Clare, who was sitting at the edge of the bed, smiling happily at her. "Is there something you’d like to ask, Ms. Clare?"

Aunt Clare’s eyes narrowed with a smile, "Was that Mr. Jones calling you?"

Rebecca Quentin nodded.

Aunt Clare gleefully exclaimed, "Have you two already reached the stage where you talk on the phone every night?"

"No, I’m going to Y City tomorrow. He was concerned I might not know the weather there."

"Even such a subtle issue crossed his mind. Mr. Jones is truly considerate towards you!"

Rebecca Quentin quipped while folding clothes, "Alright, don’t overthink it, we’re just boss and employee."

Aunt Clare smirked mischievously, "If he only saw you as an employee, why would he care so much about you?"

Rebecca Quentin stood up, pulling the curious Aunt Clare to her feet and pushing her out of the room. "Ms. Clare, it’s late. Go take a bath; I’ll need to sleep once I finish folding these clothes..."

"Miss..."

Before Aunt Clare could finish, Rebecca Quentin had already closed the door.

Suddenly, the room returned to its quiet state.

With not many clothes, Rebecca Quentin soon packed the suitcase neatly. But as she dragged the suitcase to the doorway, she suddenly looked at it, feeling a little absent-minded.

If there are no unexpected changes, she will be heading to Y City with Skyler Jones tomorrow.

Y City is far from T City, which means there will be fewer opportunities for her to come back.

She naturally would miss Aunt Clare, so she has already thought about bringing Aunt Clare to Y City once she settles down there.

Although she’s thought about everything already, she still felt a faint sense of loss at this moment.

She knew she was starting to falter again, trying hard to suppress such feelings, but a noticeable pain lingered in a certain spot in her chest.

Every time he came back home, his base was T City because he had his largest domestic branch office there, making it convenient for him to handle business. Hence, their chances of meeting in T City were not many but still possible. Once she left T City, even such slim chances would become completely impossible, meaning they really wouldn’t have any chance to meet again in this life.

In fact, going with Skyler Jones to Y City was her way of completely severing any chance of running into him, but just when she was about to make this move, she suddenly felt scared...

She has always hated herself, hated her own incapability.

For someone who never cared about her, why couldn’t she let go? But every time she thought of a world without him, she became afraid.

She dared not let anyone know about such fear because perhaps nobody in this world would be as foolish as she...

Perhaps only by truly severing any possibility of encountering him could her heart truly be free of him...

The next day, Skyler Jones arrived early.

Rarely dressed casually, he still carried his imposing demeanor when getting out of the car.

Without a hint of arrogance, when he saw Aunt Clare bringing out the luggage, he immediately helped her put the bags in the trunk.

Aunt Clare smiled broadly as she approached, "Mr. Jones, please take good care of Miss Quentin in the future."

Skyler Jones replied gently, "Don’t worry, I won’t let her suffer with me."

Skyler Jones’s statement expressed a boss’s protective attitude toward his employee, but Aunt Clare deliberately misconstrued it, smiling and saying, "I know you wouldn’t bully Miss Quentin."

Facing Aunt Clare looking as if she’s handing her over to Skyler Jones, Rebecca Quentin felt quite awkward standing beside them, unable to insert herself into the conversation.

Skyler Jones got into the vehicle and politely said, "Ms. Clare, we’ll be off now."

Aunt Clare responded courteously, "Alright, Mr. Jones, travel safely."

Rebecca Quentin then embraced Aunt Clare, "While I’m gone, please take good care of yourself."

Aunt Clare whispered beside her, "I hope next time it’ll be Mr. Jones accompanying you back to see me."

"Ms. Clare..." Rebecca Quentin grumbled softly.

Aunt Clare laughed, "Alright, alright, I won’t tease you anymore. Be careful on the road."

"Hmm."

The car smoothly moved along the road.

Perhaps to mask the mood of parting, Rebecca Quentin intentionally appeared cheerful and asked, "Mr. Jones, it’s boring on this ride. How about we chat?"

"Hmm."

"Uh, pardon me for asking, have you always been single?" She couldn’t imagine what kind of personal life a successful man like him might lead.

Skyler Jones chuckled, "Do you think I’m old?"

Rebecca Quentin shook her head earnestly, "No, I didn’t mean that. I’m purely curious; if it’s too personal, feel free not to answer."

Before Rebecca Quentin finished her words, Skyler Jones had already casually replied, "I haven’t met anyone I like, so I’ve remained single."

Rebecca Quentin couldn’t help but laugh, "It seems Mr. Jones will be a very devoted person in the future."

"Oh, what about you?"

"What?"

"I’ve answered your question. For fairness, you should answer one of mine."
