CHAPTER 312: CHAPTER 168: THE ONLY WOMAN HE LOVES IS HER
She lay back on the bed, turned her face, and looked at him.
He didn’t open his eyes, his handsome face exuded a gentle aura in the morning, and he murmured, his voice low and husky, "The child is still asleep, let’s rest a little longer."
She glanced at the crib and found that Andrew was indeed still asleep, so she lay down as he suggested.
He felt that this was not enough, and suddenly reached out to pull her into his arms, possessively, just like last night...
At ten in the morning, Rebecca Quentin was playing with Andrew in the living room.
Howard Geoffrey had already gone to the office at nine. She knew he was very busy; he had been in Y City for several days and had a lot of business to handle.
Although he merely said to her before leaving for the office, "I might have a lunch engagement and can’t come back," for some reason, her mood was much better than the night before.
Taking care of the child left her no time in the morning to think about her and Howard’s issues. Deep down, she was thinking of going with the flow. However, as fate would have it, around noon, the doorbell of the apartment rang.
Without speculating who it might be, Rebecca Quentin picked up Andrew and went to open the door.
She opened the door and was somewhat surprised to see Alice Robinson standing there.
Alice Robinson glanced at the slightly stunned Rebecca Quentin, gave her a faint smile, and her gaze quickly fell on Andrew, who was looking at her with big, round, black eyes. She expressed her delight, "Miss Quentin, is he your and Howard Geoffrey’s child, Andrew?"
Rebecca Quentin’s tone was not friendly, "What do you want?"
"You’ve been in New York for so long, and I haven’t seen Andrew yet. I specifically bought some toys today to come and see him."
Rebecca Quentin glanced at the two bags of toys in Alice Robinson’s hand and calmly said, "He’s still young, doesn’t play with toys."
Alice Robinson seemed to realize this, smiled, and said, "I’m really ashamed... I only think of buying toys when it comes to children, completely forgetting that Andrew is just over two months old."
Rebecca Quentin replied indifferently, "I appreciate your good intentions. Do you have any other business?"
Alice Robinson smiled gently, her gaze still fixed on Andrew’s innocent face, "Andrew looks much like Howard Geoffrey. I wish my child could be as cute as Andrew."
Rebecca Quentin fell silent. Alice Robinson’s words seemed to remind her of the fact that Andrew is Howard Geoffrey’s child...
After looking at Andrew for a while, Alice Robinson’s gaze finally turned to Rebecca Quentin, and she said slowly, "I only came today to see Andrew, nothing more... Miss Quentin, I’ll be leaving now."
Rebecca Quentin did not respond.
Alice Robinson placed the children’s toys into the apartment and then turned to leave.
Rebecca Quentin was about to close the door when she inadvertently saw Alice Robinson, just about to enter the elevator, suddenly lean over and almost fall, but she managed to hold onto the wall just in time.
From her innate kindness, Rebecca Quentin saw Alice Robinson still leaning against the wall and looking unwell, so she stepped out of the apartment, approached Alice Robinson, and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"
Alice Robinson shook her head, "I’m fine... The doctor previously diagnosed me with severe anemia, so I often get dizzy, but resting against the wall for a while will be alright."
Noticing the indisputable paleness on Alice Robinson’s face, Rebecca Quentin offered, "Come in and sit for a while, resting will help."
Alice Robinson nodded, then slowly walked towards the apartment.
In the apartment’s living room, Alice Robinson was now leaning on the sofa, her complexion having returned to a healthy color.
Rebecca Quentin sat across from Alice Robinson, holding Andrew, and asked, "Pregnant anemia is quite serious. Do you usually pay attention to nutrition and iron supplements?"
Alice Robinson caressed her abdomen and softly replied, "The doctor said I’m not in good health, so I’ve always been very careful. I have the cook make soup for me every day."
Rebecca Quentin said no more.
"Thank you for your concern."
"I’m just concerned about a pregnant woman."
Alice Robinson gave Rebecca Quentin a faint smile, "Actually, we could be friends."
Rebecca Quentin directly responded, "Sorry, I never thought of becoming friends with you."
Faced with Rebecca Quentin’s coldness, Alice Robinson sighed lightly, "I’m really sorry. The last time we met, I said so many harsh things to you. Honestly, I never meant them... You may not understand me yet. Those manipulative tactics you mentioned—I really never intended them. That day, I just wanted to provoke you, and also to see how much you actually care about Howard Geoffrey."
