CHAPTER 327: CHAPTER 175: MADNESS (PART 2)
He didn’t need to say much, trusting that his boss knew what he wanted to express.
No matter how real the act was, it’s still just an act. Even with top-notch acting skills, there’s always a moment when a flaw is revealed. Besides, this time, the boss didn’t completely cover all bases.
To divert "M’s" attention to Miss Robinson, "M" must be led to believe that the boss’s relationship with Miss Quentin has broken down. However, for so long, all the boss has done is make Miss Quentin fade from public view.
The boss arranged for bodyguards to protect Miss Quentin and made her move to a villa in the suburbs, merely aiming to hide her whereabouts...
Even though no one can trace Miss Quentin’s whereabouts at this moment, to "M", the inability to trace Rebecca Quentin’s movements and the boss’s overt care for Miss Robinson, any person with a bit of intelligence could see that these "facts" do not fully signify that the boss has abandoned Miss Quentin in favor of Miss Robinson.
This oversight that made "M" suspicious—how could the boss make such a mistake?
Yet, the facts are already laid bare in front of them...
He believed that the boss must have considered this oversight, but the boss couldn’t bear to let Miss Quentin leave his side.
What he couldn’t understand was, dealing with "M" and being with Miss Quentin, did the boss really think Miss Quentin was more important? One must know, a slight oversight by the boss would give "M" an opportunity to exploit, with consequences that could be dire...
Could it be that the boss is so enamored with Miss Quentin that he’s unable to think thoroughly?
While Jason Wood was deep in thought, Howard Geoffrey’s cold voice abruptly came through, "Jason."
Jason, coming to his senses, immediately stood straight, "Yes."
Howard Geoffrey casually uttered, "Release the last bait."
Jason bowed respectfully, "Yes, I’ll handle it immediately."
You always sentenced me without listening to my defense, Becca. As time passes, are you really no longer the pure, kind, and untainted Becca that I once knew?
The last words Howard Geoffrey said before leaving kept replaying in Rebecca Quentin’s mind.
When she lay in bed after taking a bath late at night, she still couldn’t shake this sentence from her mind...
She tossed and turned on the bed, until she finally sat up in a huff, biting her lip to suppress the anger in her heart.
What right did he have to accuse her with such an innocent demeanor?
She had changed, no longer the pure and kind person she once was, nor was she without darkness as before. But did he ever consider that her pure world was destroyed by his own hands, and that he had slowly injected the darkness of this world into her? If it weren’t for meeting him, she wouldn’t have known how dark the world could be, filled with schemes and devoid of genuine sincerity.
One must know that if it weren’t for meeting him, the Quentin family wouldn’t have fallen apart...
Sister’s misunderstanding of her father, sister’s revenge against her, her father’s "suicide," and her foolish obsession with the malicious him—weren’t these all caused by him?
After committing so many misdeeds, he still expected her to comply with him as if the Quentin family owed the Geoffrey family. In the dead of night, did his conscience not trouble him?
What right did he have to say that she had changed?
Thinking of this, Becca threw everything within reach towards the front, and even the pillow met its doom, being flung towards the door.
Coincidentally, the door opened at that moment, and the pillow thrown in anger by Becca just happened to hit the person entering.
It was naturally Howard Geoffrey, standing at the door, looking at the room Becca had turned upside down in her fury, his hawk-like black eyes flashed with a chill as his gaze lingered on her.
Becca didn’t expect Howard Geoffrey to return tonight, so when she saw him, her gaze momentarily froze, but upon feeling the chill in his eyes, her indignant heart stubbornly hardened again, glaring back at him coldly.
Howard Geoffrey slowly squinted his eyes, assessing her.
On his way back, he kept thinking about how he should coax her.
But when he pushed the door open and was greeted by her pillow flying towards him, his once calm heart could not help but ripple again.
He cherished her, pampered her, and loved her, so she was allowed to act willfully in front of him, but no one’s patience and self-control are inexhaustible.
At that moment, Howard Geoffrey casually closed the door, unbuttoning his shirt as he stepped in, facing her sideways, and said calmly, "Why is someone so angry at home alone?"
To be honest, his earlier expression subtly hinted at anger; she thought she would face his wrath, yet she saw him slowly extinguishing the flames in his eyes.
Although he was unwilling to argue with her, her decision wouldn’t change, so at that moment, she gazed at his handsome profile, and coldly said, "I want to take Andrew and leave here."
Hearing Becca say that, his handsome face darkened slightly but had no more reaction. It wasn’t until he unbuttoned two buttons around his neck that he walked towards her.
She sat on the edge of the bed, her whole demeanor emanating a defensive aura, her clear eyes staring at him pointedly.
In contrast to the displeasure on Becca’s face, Howard Geoffrey’s face showed no trace of emotion as he sat on the edge of the bed, his dark eyes meeting Becca’s clear gaze, and gently said, "Have you forgotten what I said? Other than being by my side, you have no other choice."
"Impossible."
Howard Geoffrey smiled faintly, "There hasn’t been anything I wanted to do that I couldn’t accomplish."
The implication being, she should stop her wishful thinking!!
In response to Howard Geoffrey’s gentle words, Becca gritted her teeth and said, "You have no right to imprison my freedom of life!"
Howard Geoffrey continued to smile at her, and suddenly, with lightning speed, pecked her puffed cheek, elegantly saying, "We’re family, it’s only natural for you to be with me, how could it be considered imprisonment of your freedom?"
Becca dismissed, "Who’s family with you?"
Howard Geoffrey’s tone carried a bit of roguishness, "With our close relationship, are we not considered family?"
Becca was furious and embarrassed, "Who’s close with you, lunatic!"
Watching Becca’s pretty face turn red, Howard Geoffrey’s smile widened, teasingly, "Shall I explain in detail how we got close enough to have Andrew?"
"You shameless!!" Becca’s face indeed turned even redder.
