"Have you adapted to your new environment?"

Rebecca Quentin smiled faintly, "I’m not a child. As long as I’m not cold or hungry, there’s nothing I can’t adapt to."

Christine Quinn held Rebecca Quentin’s hand, "Don’t play dumb with me, you know what I’m asking."

Rebecca Quentin looked at Christine Quinn seriously, "Sis, I never intended to be with him, so there’s no sense of loss, let alone any difficulty in adapting."

"When you told me over the phone that you were in T City, I knew something went wrong between you and Howard Geoffrey... Becca, tell me, what exactly happened that made you separate so decisively from Howard Geoffrey?"

A bitter feeling spread in Rebecca Quentin’s chest, she took a deep breath and then informed Christine Quinn of the truth she discovered about her father’s death.

Christine Quinn was shocked upon hearing it, "Is this the reason you’ve insisted on not being with Howard Geoffrey?"

Christine Quinn consoled, "Becca, although I didn’t grow up beside my father, I love him just the same. Hearing you say the recording implicates Howard Geoffrey in causing father’s death shocked me too. But thinking about it carefully, isn’t it possible someone deliberately sent such a recording to stir up trouble between you and Howard Geoffrey?"

"I don’t care whether someone is stirring up trouble; what matters to me is the fact that Howard Geoffrey caused my father’s death." Rebecca Quentin spat out with difficulty, "A human life—how could he regard it so cheaply? How could I possibly allow myself to walk down the path with someone so cold-blooded?"

Christine Quinn sighed, "I was ill at the time, and I’m not very clear about the deal between Howard Geoffrey and father, so I can’t make a judgment for you."

"Sis, being with him, I’m really, really tired. I can never guess his thoughts nor discern the authenticity of his feelings. So many schemes and plots, I really can’t bear it..."

"But have you considered that if the accusations you placed on him are actually misunderstandings, wouldn’t you feel regret?"

Rebecca Quentin firmly shook her head, "I won’t feel regret, and today, I’m even glad that I made such a decision."

"Why?" Christine Quinn asked, puzzled.

"Because today I finally know, he never had sincere feelings for me..."

"If he had no sincere feelings, why would he waste his time on you?"

"It’s because he and Mr. Jones were always competing, so I became their trophy!!"

"That’s also your assumption. You should ask him to clarify."

"Yes, I could ask him many, many questions face-to-face, but what good does it do once it’s clarified? Even if he explains my father’s death to me, can I just disregard the fact he got another woman pregnant?" Rebecca Quentin’s eyes were already red, her voice hoarse due to choking.
