CHAPTER 379: CHAPTER 202: JOINING THE GEOFFREY FAMILY (PART 2)

Becca adjusted Geoffrey’s shirt collar and mumbled, "People should be simple. Being as deep as you are, do you think you’re happy?"

Geoffrey shook his head, "If I could choose, I’d rather live an ordinary life."

Becca sighed, "But life isn’t about choosing, just like meeting you wasn’t a choice for me."

Geoffrey pulled Becca closer, teasing, "What, meeting me put you in a tough spot?"

Becca playfully punched Geoffrey’s chest with a small fist, "Who told you to bully me like that before..."

Geoffrey gently kissed Becca’s brow, "How about I let you bully me back in the future?"

Becca wrinkled her nose disdainfully, "I’m not as bad as you."

Geoffrey smiled, "I’m afraid you couldn’t bear to!"

"Vain!"

In that moment, Geoffrey held Becca tightly in his arms.

Becca leaned against Geoffrey’s chest, inhaling his unique and subtly cologne-scented fragrance. She closed her eyes and hugged him tightly.

Silence enveloped them like a century had passed, until Geoffrey broke it with a hoarse whisper, "Becca, I’m sorry, I just can’t live without you..."

Becca opened her eyes to look at Geoffrey, a happy smile spreading across her face, "Fool, why are you apologizing to me..."

Geoffrey tenderly pecked at Becca’s lips, his voice growing even raspier, "Promise me, never leave me again."

Becca nodded firmly, "I don’t want to leave you ever again."

"Miss Quentin."

Becca had just exited the doctor’s office when she suddenly heard someone call from behind.

She turned around and saw Chester Robinson, smiling slightly, "Doctor Robinson."

Chester asked, "Here for a check-up?"

"Yes, once a week."

"How is everything going?"

"The doctor said everything, including the heartbeat, is good."

"That’s good to hear..."

"Thank you, Doctor Robinson, for your concern."

"What a coincidence, I got off work early today. Are you leaving? I can give you a lift."

"Uh, I..."

Becca looked awkward, not knowing how to respond, just then, Geoffrey’s tall and imposing figure was already walking towards her from the pharmacy.

Chester naturally noticed Geoffrey, his expression changing slightly.

Geoffrey, however, seemed not to see Chester, wrapping his arm around Becca’s slender waist, speaking softly, "The medicine is ready, let’s go!"

Chester frowned, watching them heavily.

Before leaving with Geoffrey’s arm around her, Becca politely said to Chester, "Doctor Robinson, thank you for your kindness, see you next time."

In the car, Geoffrey helped Becca with her seatbelt.

Becca couldn’t help but ask Geoffrey, "Do you not know Doctor Robinson well?"

"He’s an unimportant person, I don’t have time to bother."

Becca was shocked, "How can he be unimportant? He’s Alice Robinson’s brother."

Geoffrey fastened the seatbelt and started the engine, speaking casually, "Still unimportant?"

"Uh..."

He was truly heartless, but this kind of response strangely warmed her heart.

After pressing the gas, Geoffrey looked in the rear-view mirror at a pleased Becca and asked coldly, "Are you close with him?"

"Not very close, but he helped me and I think highly of him."

Geoffrey narrowed his eyes cunningly, "Think highly?"

Catching a hint of jealousy, Becca quickly explained, "Hey, don’t be so petty, he’s a doctor. I bumped into him several times during check-ups, and then he just gave me a ride home, that’s all."

"That’s all?" The jealousy inside the car intensified.

Becca impatiently replied, "Mr. Geoffrey, do I need to explain the details of each time I met him?"

"I don’t want any other man coveting you."

"Mr. Geoffrey, do you really think I’m still a young girl of seventeen or eighteen? He’s a doctor with such a good background, do you think he would fancy a woman who’s divorced and has a child like me?"

Geoffrey chuckled, "True enough."

"Your response makes me feel awkward. Hey, am I that undesirable now? Even if you don’t want me, with my conditions, it’s not like I couldn’t remarry in the future."

Geoffrey’s smile deepened, "Yes, I’m fortunate to have you back."

Becca shamelessly retorted, "That’s more like it."

Back at home, Becca peeked into the room to check on the still-sleeping Andrew, feeling relieved, she placed the baby monitor on the nightstand and lay down on the bed, exhausted.

Geoffrey came in, sat at the edge of the bed, and patted her leg, "Tired?"

Becca pretended to nap with her eyes closed, "Yeah, ever since getting pregnant, even a hospital visit feels tiring."

"Climbing four flights of stairs here isn’t suitable for a pregnant woman... Let’s move tomorrow."

Becca sleepily agreed, "You handle it."

Geoffrey leaned down, giving her lips a soft peck, "Baby, go sleep in the room."

"Okay."

The next day.

Geoffrey went downstairs to the parking garage.

He took out the car key to open the door, but instead, he spotted a slender silhouette crouched next to his car.

His steps halted, watching as she slowly stood up, his dark eyes narrowing into slits.

"I knew you were in T City, but I didn’t have the courage to see you and Becca together, so I waited for you here."

Alice Robinson’s voice was frail, and her once prominent belly was no more.

Geoffrey glanced at her briefly without further response, opening the car door and stepping towards the vehicle.

Alice clung to Geoffrey from behind just as he was about to lower himself into the car.

"Geoff..."

Geoffrey remained motionless, his thin lips spitting out coldly, "Let go."

Alice’s cheek pressed against Geoffrey’s back, her eyes closed as she deeply inhaled his lingering male scent, choking up, "I won’t."

"I won’t say it again."

Crystalline tears slipped from Alice’s eyes as she implored with deep sadness, "I beg you, don’t leave me... Do you know that I can’t live without you!"

In that moment, Geoffrey coldly pried Alice’s arms from around him.

Yet, Alice did not give up. As Geoffrey entered the car to drive off, she once again blocked the front of his car with her slender figure.
