CHAPTER 89: CHAPTER 55: GEOFFREY, EVEN YOU HAVE A DAY LIKE THIS!

Rebecca Quentin lay on the spacious, comfortable seat, squinting through the gaps of her half-closed lashes, secretly glancing at Howard Geoffrey sitting opposite her.

He really had a lot of energy. He had been reading documents ever since boarding the plane, giving her no chance to strike up a conversation with him.

After observing him for another hour, she finally gave up the idea of talking to him...

Actually, she didn’t have much to say to him. Before boarding the flight, she had intended to explain why she had deliberately intruded into his life these past few days. But he seemed indifferent, probably because Christine Quinn must have told him. A moment ago, she had dismissed the thought of explaining. The only thing she still wanted to say now was to hope that he could apologize to his mother on her behalf after he returned from his business trip. After all, Mrs. Geoffrey had always taken good care of her. She truly felt embarrassed...

But looking at it now, it seemed there would be no communication between her and Howard during this journey. It looked like her apology to Mrs. Geoffrey would have to be conveyed through a personal phone call later on.

Since that was the case, so be it. There was no regret in the silence, as she and he would soon have no further interaction...

Rebecca closed her eyes, emptied her mind of all thoughts, and slowly fell asleep...

When Rebecca woke up, the plane had landed in T City.

After taking off the blanket and looking around, she realized that she was the only one left on the plane.

Due to the time difference, it was still night in T City. The only light she could see was the most basic lighting at the private airport, making her feel particularly desolate and lonely at that moment.

Rebecca wasn’t surprised that Howard had just left her like this. She walked out of the airport alone and, noticing there were no cabs, called Aunt Clare.

Aunt Clare arrived quickly by cab. What should have been the joy of a long-awaited reunion turned to tears when Aunt Clare saw Rebecca’s emaciated figure and immediately burst out crying...

Rebecca comforted Aunt Clare. She hadn’t felt particularly wronged before, but the sudden thought of how alone she had been all these years made her eyes redden too, and she hugged Aunt Clare, sobbing...

In the darkness, a black car was hidden under the trees at the airport exit.

Watching the red taillights of the cab fade into the distance, Jason Wood started the engine and asked, "Boss, where are we headed?"

Howard Geoffrey, sitting in the back seat, replied lightly, "The villa," then closed his eyes to feign sleep.

"Alright."

Such is life. The clouds finally parted to reveal blue skies; the gloom that had enveloped Rebecca Quentin dispersed, and she finally embraced her new life.

Returning to T City, she moved into a small apartment Aunt Clare rented. Though far from luxurious, the place offered her the tranquility and warmth she craved.

Once her life stabilized, finding a job became Rebecca’s most pressing goal.

Fortunately, not many days after returning to T City, she found a good job as a part-time model at a modeling agency.

She certainly never would have thought of entering the modeling industry. It was actually Isabella Joanna who had recommended her.

At the time, Isabella Joanna was doing fashion shows abroad. Hearing that Rebecca had quit her job in G City, returned to T City, and was now struggling to find work, Isabella Joanna immediately recommended her to the modeling agency where she herself worked.

Rebecca was initially very reluctant to join a modeling agency. After all, such companies often had a dark side, and she had never been involved in the industry. She didn’t want to take on something for which she had no experience. In the end, however, Isabella Joanna persuaded her.

Isabella Joanna explained that she would only be a part-time model for the company, the kind that didn’t require signing a contract. So, even if there were unsavory aspects within the company, it wouldn’t directly involve her. Most importantly, the commission for attending a single event was very high.

At first, she didn’t understand how she could possibly get into a modeling agency. She was only five feet five and had no professional training. What kind of model could she be?

Later, after rather cluelessly joining the agency where Isabella Joanna worked and attending an event with other part-time models, she finally understood. Her part-time job wasn’t really modeling at all; it was actually similar to being a hostess or server.

Nowadays, many government enterprises and corporations require elegant and beautiful hostesses when arranging large-scale events. Consequently, they often approach public relations firms or modeling agencies to hire young women with excellent appearance and demeanor. Rebecca’s job, then, was to attend these events as arranged by the modeling agency.
