CHAPTER 772: CHAPTER 771: CONFESSION (1)
But before she could step forward, Shi Che glanced at her again with half-lidded eyes, his thin lips slightly parting. Though his words carried gentleness, they also left no room for question, "Go out and wait, be good."
Ling Chuxia’s feet were rooted to the spot, her belly full of doubts. Hearing that word "be good" only made her feel extremely odd, sending a shiver down her spine.
What was up with Shi Che today?
Ling Chuxia looked at him again, puzzled, but when she caught his gaze sweeping over her, she subconsciously shrank her neck and quickly turned to leave.
Watching her retreating back, the corners of Shi Che’s lips lifted in an unconcealable smile.
-
Shi Che spent quite some time tinkering in the kitchen and finally brought out the breakfast he had made himself. Ling Chuxia glanced at it, it was her favorite Red Bean Porridge.
Cooking Red Bean Porridge didn’t require much culinary skill, but the red beans were tough, and without soaking them beforehand, they would need to cook for hours to soften. Had Shi Che woken up very early then?
Ling Chuxia stared intently at the bowl of Red Bean Porridge, her eyes slightly lifting to look at Shi Che, "Why... have you suddenly decided to make breakfast for me?"
Shi Che did not answer but pulled out the chair next to Ling Chuxia and sat down. Then, he pushed the bowl of Red Bean Porridge towards her and took a spoonful, bringing it to her lips, before finally speaking, but it wasn’t to answer her question. Instead, he asked, "Here, try it and see how it tastes?"
Ling Chuxia’s delicate eyebrows furrowed. Her curiosity had peaked, and yet Shi Che wasn’t saying anything, leaving her heart somewhat unsettled.
"Open up," seeing Ling Chuxia just staring at him, Shi Che urged.
Ling Chuxia suppressed her curiosity, opened her mouth, and tentatively took a small bite.
Shi Che’s dark eyes intently watched her, his voice carrying a hint of anticipation, "How is it?"
Ling Chuxia chewed a few times, the red beans were very soft, gritty yet creamy, and the juice was thick and smooth, with a moderate sweetness that was rather delicious.
Ling Chuxia’s eyes couldn’t help but light up, and she vigorously nodded, "It’s very tasty."
"If it’s tasty, eat more," Shi Che responded, a faint smile emerging on his lips, then continued spooning the Red Bean Porridge to feed Ling Chuxia.
After several more mouthfuls, Ling Chuxia could no longer hold back her overflowing curiosity and asked again, "Shi Che, you haven’t answered my question! Why aren’t you at work today and instead making breakfast for me?"
He had been so busy lately, working against the clock on official matters—who had such leisure and elegance?
The smile on Shi Che’s lips deepened as he raised his eyes to look at Ling Chuxia, whose large eyes were full of questions, rolling around as if she couldn’t rest without an answer. He shook his head slightly and fed her another spoonful of porridge, his voice then calmly rising, "I wanted to make breakfast for you, so I did. As for not going to work... because, we need to go somewhere."
Go somewhere? To what place?
Ling Chuxia’s brows furrowed in confusion again, just about to inquire further, but suddenly the doorbell rang.
Shi Che, hearing the doorbell sound, slowly put down the spoon in his hand, then stood up and elegantly walked over with long strides before opening the door.
It was Xiao Zhao.
Upon entering, he first respectfully greeted Shi Che and Ling Chuxia, then handed over what he was carrying to Shi Che.
Ling Chuxia glanced over, and she could vaguely see it was something like plane tickets.
