Once Shi Che found Chuxia, he surely wouldn’t let Chuxia leave him again, right? By then, how would she handle herself?

No, that couldn’t happen. Since Chuxia had already left, she must stay far away from her, even if she did see Shi Che, she would automatically avoid him.

So, the only n for now was clear, she needed to get engaged to Shi Che as soon as possible.

But she also knew that Shi Che was unlikely to get engaged to her, as she had no leverage to force him unless... Mrs. Shi.

Ling Yunshu’s gaze became slightly stern as she fiercely bit her lower lip.

    -

In Liang City where the situation was turbulent, Ling Chuxia was also encountering some trouble.

After the car had rattled for several hours, it finally arrived in Lin City. She stepped off with her luggage in tow, finding the bus station as bustling as ever, crowded and jostling with people squeezing past each other.

Ling Chuxia could only drag her suitcase, moving slowly and with difficulty.

In the crowded station, there were often many pickpockets and thieves lurking, preying specifically on young girls who clearly looked like out-of-towners, striking whenever the opportunity arose. Thus, as soon as Ling Chuxia disembarked, she became a target for these people.

Unaware that she had been marked, Ling Chuxia walked while inevitably pondering where she would stay for the night.

Because of the rush, she hadn’t properly considered and arranged her ns beforeing to Lin City, so she hadn’t made any hotel reservations in advance, thinking she would figure it out upon arrival.

As Ling Chuxia lost herself more in thought, her pace slowed unconsciously.

Several pickpockets and thieves were eyeing Ling Chuxia, often working together like a gang. Seeing Ling Chuxia in this state, one of them thought the timing was about right and gave another one a look, signaling him to make a move.

That person nodded, threw the cigarette from his mouth to the ground, stepped on it, grinding it out, then rubbed his hands together and began to step towards Ling Chuxia.

Ling Chuxia had no inkling of the approaching danger as she thought about how little savings she had. She had always lived with the Shi Family, and her food and necessities were provided there; she had no money of her own. It was only after starting college that Mrs. Shi began giving her and her elder sister a monthly allowance, but because she typically siphoned off Shi Che’s resources for her expenses, she had saved up the allowance money. It wasn’t a lot, but it wasn’t meager either; however, she had given arge portion of it to the dean, so now she didn’t have much left and needed to be frugal.

She would find a motel to stay in for tonight and then, tomorrow, she must quickly look for an apartment.

The thief slowly closed in on Ling Chuxia. He followed right behind her, only an arm’s length away, reaching out to grab her bag.

His hand had just touched Ling Chuxia’s bag and was about to snatch it away when suddenly, a tall man hurried from behind, cing a hand on Ling Chuxia’s shoulder. His dark eyes looked at Ling Chuxia, a smile curling at the corners of his mouth with a voice filled with utmost gentleness, he said to Ling Chuxia, "Darling, I’m sorry for beingte. There was a bit of traffic. Please don’t be mad at me!"

Ling Chuxia’s deep thoughts were instantly shattered by this interruption. She abruptly lifted her head, her ck eyes involuntarily widening in astonishment as she met the man’s gaze, "You... you...?"
