CHAPTER 16: THE PERSON IN THE CAR CAN’T BE MOVIE EMPEROR XI

Jensen Sterling had been busy for many days, and when he got home, he was already very tired. He saw a pair of pink slippers at the entrance and remembered that he hadn’t contacted Mia Sutton in a while.

He walked to the sofa, sat down, casually loosened his tie, rubbed his forehead, then found her number on his phone and made a call.

Mia Sutton had just finished her practice when she received a call from Jensen Sterling.

"Hello."

Jensen: "Have you been adjusting well these past few days?"

The man’s voice was low and tinged with exhaustion, and Mia easily picked up on it. As a competent marriage partner by agreement, she was dutiful and attentive.

"I’m good." Perhaps worried about being recorded by the sound equipment, Mia’s voice lowered a bit, "Mr. Sterling, don’t overwork yourself, make sure to rest well."

If you don’t rest well, even your voice won’t sound nice.

Hearing this, Jensen paused, and then let out a soft chuckle, "Hmm."

The young lady sure knows how to comfort people.

After a few seconds, Jensen asked, "Do you have time these days?"

Hearing this, Mia sat to the side, tilted her head, and thought carefully. The first stage performance had just been recorded, and the next would be the initial live performance, but there was some time in between, so she wasn’t very busy.

"I do."

"In a few days, we’ll go back home. Mom has been urging us. Can you manage?"

Speaking of this, Jensen felt a bit helpless. Even though they said they were married, his mom wouldn’t believe it.

She had to see someone in person to be convinced, or she’d continue setting him up on blind dates.

Mia: So, we’re meeting the parents?

She can handle that!

She hadn’t forgotten the reason he had sought her out. Wasn’t it because his family was pushing for marriage? This was an easy problem for her.

"Of course, Mr. Sterling, when will this be, and oh...

For the first meeting, is there anything I need to prepare? Do your parents have any preferences?"

Jensen: "The day after tomorrow. They don’t have any specific wants, so you don’t need to worry about these things."

Mia responded with an "Oh."

Jensen: "I’ll pick you up then."

Mia replied with an "Okay."

With the matters settled, and nothing more to discuss, Jensen ended the call.

In these days, there wasn’t much to do, and many people weren’t staying with the production crew, so Mia figured it was the same wherever she was. Plus, not wanting to move around much, she didn’t go back.

On the third day, Mia got ready early. When the phone rang, she picked up and immediately started heading out.

"Miss Sutton, you can come down now." The caller was Jensen’s assistant, and his voice was a bit soft. Mia acknowledged and then hung up the phone.

Once in the underground garage, she glanced at the parked car and quickly got inside.

Leo gestured with his finger on his lips, indicating silence, and pointed to the man next to him with closed eyes.

"Mr. Sterling has fallen asleep. He’s been too tired these past few days. Miss Sutton, I hope you understand."

Mia nodded, signaling that she understood.

The car quickly started and drove off.

The people from the production crew saw this and remarked, "Looks like this girl is going to stay popular for a while."

"Could it be Mr. Sterling himself inside?" someone asked softly.

The person next to them sneered, "So many people have tried to get close to him, but he’s always turned them away. He’s famous for being unapproachable. Do you think it’s possible?"

The person who had just asked seemed to realize how laughable their idea was, shook their head, and then steered away from the topic.

They all knew it was Jensen Sterling’s car, but at the same time, they understood it was impossible for Jensen himself to be inside, so the only explanation was someone close to him was driving the car.

It seemed like everyone tacitly agreed that it couldn’t possibly be Jensen, the superstar, inside the car!
