CHAPTER 18: SHE PLAYED HER PART WELL

Giselle Summers, who is Jensen Sterling’s mother, sat to the side and didn’t even raise her head, saying indifferently, "He must have been delayed by something. If you want to start eating, go ahead, you don’t need to wait for him."

A woman below her said with a smile, "Sister-in-law, how can you say that? Jensen hasn’t returned yet, and he’s bringing someone along. We should wait."

Gavin Sterling’s brows immediately furrowed, and his expression darkened. He slammed a hand on the table: "Making his father wait for a junior, what kind of behavior is that!"

Giselle Summers lifted her gaze and glanced lightly at Gavin Sterling.

Gavin Sterling instantly felt deflated. "Giselle..." Before he could finish, Giselle Summers had already withdrawn her gaze.

"No one’s asking you to wait."

Jensen Sterling walked in holding Mia Sutton’s hand and said coolly. He then tilted his head, speaking in a softer tone to the elegant woman, "Mom."

Mia Sutton looked at the people before her. Although Giselle Summers was in her fifties, she had taken good care of herself, showing no traces of time on her face. Time never defeats a beauty.

Giselle Summers said, "You’re back." Then she turned her gaze to Mia Sutton beside him, paused for a moment, and smiled slightly, "Mia, right?"

Mia Sutton nodded obediently and decisively addressed her, "Mom." Her voice was crisp and clear.

Not to mention others, even Jensen Sterling didn’t expect her to call out so straightforwardly.

Sterling’s father noticed Mia Sutton had only addressed Giselle Summers and not him, his face darkened. No manners at all!

Then he said to Mia Sutton, "Don’t you know how to address people?"

Upon hearing this, Mia Sutton did not immediately respond. Instead, she first looked at Jensen Sterling, blinking her beautiful eyes as if seeking his opinion.

Jensen Sterling smiled subtly, then reached out to ruffle her hair, giving his approval.

Since it was her first time meeting him, the proper courtesy still needed to be extended.

After getting his consent, Mia Sutton turned her head and gracefully said to Gavin Sterling, "Dad."

Gavin Sterling gave a light "hmm," and his expression softened a bit, but he still looked at Jensen Sterling with dissatisfaction.

Seeing this, someone beside quickly tried to ease the situation: "Oh, look, we’ve been so busy talking that we forgot to serve the dishes. Come on, have a seat."

Then handed over what they had prepared, even though Jensen Sterling said it wasn’t necessary, the necessary manners were still needed for the first visit.

No matter if they wanted it or liked it, it wasn’t Mia Sutton’s concern; she just needed to do what she was supposed to do.

After a few more words of small talk, they took their seats.

No matter how the atmosphere at the table was, the surface peace was maintained. Jensen Sterling, too lazy to fuss, led Mia Sutton to sit next to Giselle Summers.
