Contract Marriage: Let's Make It Real, Mrs. Sterling!
Chapter 33: Is It My Neck That’s Itching or My Heart?
CHAPTER 33: IS IT MY NECK THAT’S ITCHING OR MY HEART?
"Ms. Sutton, it’s time to change," the staff said, presenting a dress.
It was an elegant knee-length blue gradient dress, simple yet chic in style.
Mia Sutton took it and entered the changing room. After a moment, the door opened, and she stepped out.
While Mia was putting on makeup, Jensen Sterling sat not far away, occasionally taking phone calls. For someone like him, being busy was normal.
Jensen had just hung up a call when he saw Mia walking out. His usually stoic expression unusually faltered for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure.
"Ms. Sutton looks absolutely stunning in this. Mr. Sterling has such impeccable taste," the staff couldn’t help but remark.
Upon hearing this, Mia blinked, then looked up at Jensen, meeting his gaze. She smiled and asked, "Honey, do I look good?"
Jensen, still seated, slightly lowered his gaze, instinctively rubbing his fingers together, and replied, "You’re beautiful."
This wasn’t just empty flattery; she truly looked incredible. Mia was already beautiful, and the makeup highlighted all her best features. The delicate blue dress seemed tailor-made for her, with a waist so slender it seemed it might break with the slightest pressure.
Loose strands of hair playfully draped across her forehead, adding a touch of mischief, complemented by Mia’s playful tone that was irresistible to anyone.
Jensen stood up from the sofa and casually took her hand, saying, "Let’s go."
Mia nodded, "Okay," exuding a charmingly demure demeanor.
By the time they arrived, most of the guests were already at the party, and the atmosphere was lively.
Among them were various business partners engaged in conversations and negotiations.
As Mia strolled in with Jensen, the chatter gradually died down, with eyes intermittently glancing over at him and, consequently, at Mia as well.
Everyone speculated about the identity of the person Jensen brought along.
Though Jensen occasionally attended events with others, those were usually entertainment industry affairs. This being a business event, it was the first time people had seen him bring someone, stirring quite the curiosity.
Especially given their intimate arm-in-arm entrance, it surely sparked endless speculations among the guests.
Jensen surveyed the room before leaning down to speak softly to Mia, "I’ll introduce you to the who’s who of the business world."
Their proximity made her feel the warmth of his arm and his gentle breath tickling her neck, inciting a tingling sensation.
Mia lightly pressed her tongue against the inside of her cheek, unsure if the tickle was on her neck or in her heart.
Unaware of Mia’s subtle reaction, Jensen straightened up and continued to lead her further in.
"Jensen, over here," a clear male voice called out.
Both Mia and Jensen turned toward the voice.
A man lounged on a nearby chair, looking carefree, dressed flamboyantly, exuding an aura of swagger, much like a flamboyant peacock.
Jensen quietly said, "That’s Clark Jacobs, from the Jacobs Family," offering a simple introduction.
Mia nodded. She had heard of the Jacobs Family; they had been quite prominent in recent years, she thought to herself.
Upon seeing Jensen with a young woman, Clark playfully whistled, "Well, well, Mr. Sterling has found himself company too."
