CHAPTER 36: PICKED UP A TREASURE

Wife? Married? When did that happen? How come I haven’t heard anything about it?

These questions popped up in his mind one after another, but he didn’t show anything on his face.

"Julian got married and I hadn’t heard? Just the other day, my niece was asking about him. Looks like my niece isn’t so lucky after all."

Several others pricked up their ears, waiting for Jensen Sterling’s response.

Jensen was, after all, one of the most outstanding among the younger generation. Many wanted him as a son-in-law, and countless people had inquired about his marriage secretly.

Who would have thought he got married quietly without a word?

"Exactly. Even my granddaughter mentions him so often that it’s driving me nuts. Now she’ll finally quiet down."

Upon hearing this, Jensen Sterling chuckled softly, "Uncles, please stop talking about it, or my wife will get jealous."

The group of elders burst into hearty laughter, "Alright, alright, we won’t say more. It wouldn’t be good to affect the young couple’s relationship."

Seeing this, Mia Sutton lowered her head, blushing cooperatively as if truly being teased by the elders.

The group chatted about other things. To some young people, this kind of gathering was an opportunity to expand their network, but to others, it was just for show, attending only out of respect for good old Mr. Jiang and for a change of scenery.

So the conversation was scattered and random, without a word about business matters.

As people age, they start enjoying the art of living. Conversations might drift to calligraphy, mentioning famous paintings, talking about newly arrived batches of good tea, or some new antiques. From the ancient to modern times, anything could be brought up.

Mia sat quietly on the side, listening without any impatience. Occasionally, she would express her opinions, her voice soft, making others feel comfortable. Everything she said hit just the right note—not overly flashy, yet not allowing herself to be ignored.

After rounds of conversation, those who initially underestimated Mia now completely changed their views.

Someone gave Mia an admiring look, then turned with a hearty laugh to Jensen Sterling, saying, "Julian, you’ve truly found a treasure. The young lady is so sweet I’d want her as a granddaughter-in-law."

Young people today live such hectic lives, everything moving so fast. It’s rare to find someone patient enough to appreciate the cultural heritage left by their ancestors.

Other than specialists, most people have just a superficial understanding, yet Mia seemed able to keep up with any topic, and quite knowledgeably so.

Moreover, it was clear she genuinely understood rather than just pretending, because some things can’t be faked without proper knowledge.

Jensen thought about Mia’s demeanor earlier, a smile spreading across his face, responding warmly, "Yes, she’s truly a treasure."

Indeed a treasure; if he hadn’t thought of her at that moment, how would she have ever known him?

"Hey, isn’t Mia from the Sutton Family?" one elder questioned.

With that question, the others realized it too—yes, there’s just one Sutton Family here, although they seemed to have faced some issues in recent years.

Mia nodded, "Yes, my father is Simon Sutton."

"No wonder, then. Simon Sutton taught his daughter well. In the future, let’s have my wife take our granddaughter over more often. Your mother won’t find them bothersome, will she?"

Mia smiled sweetly, "Not at all, my mom would be delighted."

Just then, Mr. Jiang suddenly said, "Hmm, I seem to remember seeing Simon today. Is he here too? Why not invite him to join us?"

Mia’s face froze instantly, one thought in her mind: Oh no!
