CHAPTER 6: GOING HOME

The two of them left the civil affairs bureau very low-key. When they got back to the car, Cameron Grant asked nervously if everything went smoothly and if there was a chance of it being leaked, only relaxing when he was assured it wouldn’t.

Cameron sat in the front, while Mia Sutton and Jensen Sterling sat in the back. They weren’t sitting very close, there was even enough space between them for another person. Jensen casually glanced down and then turned his head away.

Such a good actress, the transition was very natural!

Jensen Sterling: "Where are you staying now?"

Mia Sutton gave an address, and Jensen looked it up. It was a hotel, not far from there.

"Go pick up your luggage, and you can move to my place today, is that okay?" He was still worried that she might feel uncomfortable, so he asked again.

If she couldn’t accept it just yet, they could take it slow.

Mia’s eyes lit up, and she nodded.

She was more than okay with it!

Cameron, being rather perceptive, drove straight to the hotel as soon as his new boss lady agreed.

Jensen initially wanted to go out and help Mia with her things, but she convinced him otherwise, saying there wasn’t much, and she could manage by herself.

She simply liked to keep a low profile and had no plans of courting online outrage for the moment.

Cameron also breathed a deep sigh of relief. It would have been a disaster if Jensen got photographed while getting out.

After Mia left, Jensen leaned back against the seat, his long legs awkwardly arranged, casually yet enticingly spread.

Jensen didn’t go along because he was considering her feelings. After all, it wouldn’t matter much if his marriage got exposed, but for her, it could be a lifelong burden if she got a bad reputation.

......

Mia was temporarily staying at the hotel with just a suitcase, so she didn’t have much to pack. She came back with her luggage shortly.

Cameron helped her put it in the trunk.

Mia: If it wasn’t for maintaining my dainty fairy image, don’t mention a suitcase–I’d smash a rock on my chest!

Once they arrived, Cameron tactfully left them alone.

Jensen was in front, carrying her suitcase, while Mia obediently followed behind.

People who lived here had a high status, and the privacy was well-maintained, so there was no concern about being photographed by paparazzi.

They took the elevator to the sixteenth floor, where Jensen stopped.

On this floor, there were only two apartments, and no one lived in the other one. So, besides them, there was no one else on the sixteenth floor.

At the door, Jensen stopped.

Mia, who had been following, tilted her head in confusion when he paused, and then she heard a voice.

"Your hand."

Mia raised her hand and saw a slender hand holding hers. The difference between a man’s and a woman’s hands became apparent in that moment, with warmth from his hand steadily flowing across her skin, slightly hot!

After a moment, his voice came again: "Done."

Snapping back to reality, Mia realized she was entering her fingerprint into the door lock.

"Let’s go." Then he opened the door and went inside.

The apartment had three bedrooms, a bathroom, a study, a screening room, and so on...

The decor was minimalist and not luxurious, giving a very comfortable feel.

"Would this room be fine for you?" Jensen asked, pointing to one of the rooms.

Mia nodded: "Yes, it’s fine."

She knew the layout wouldn’t be shabby, but she had underestimated the attention to detail from a mature man.

The room’s arrangement was flawless, elegant yet understated, thoughtfully composed in every detail.

Jensen: "If there’s anything you’re missing, you can tell me or get it yourself, the card is in the drawer."

"I’m busy with work, so I won’t be home often. Feel free to stay here, and if you need anything, you can call me. If you can’t reach me, you can also contact Cameron."

Jensen had arranged everything, and once again Mia marveled at the advantages of being with a mature man, who considers everything so thoroughly.

They didn’t stay long, as Jensen had other events to attend, and before he left, he reminded her not to be afraid if Martin Wright contacted her, and to just call him.

After Jensen left, Mia took a tour around the house, then took a bath and slept soundly.

She was finally woken up by her phone ringing, and when she checked it, there were several messages, all from the same person.

The last one was: "If you ever have any news, send it to me, and I’ll pay you more."
