CHAPTER 229: CHAPTER 229: FAMILIAR Q&A SEGMENT, JIANG FENG’S RESPONSE!

The next day dawned clear and bright. It was another great day for setting up a stall.

After Jiang Feng got up and had breakfast, he went to the shop with Little Black. He planned to bring Little Black along but not let it into the kitchen; it could rest outside.

Some time ago, Jiang Feng had unlocked a new system feature called "Leave." In bad weather, such as storms or heavy rain, Jiang Feng could choose to take leave without affecting the completion of his tasks. However, he still needed to complete seven days of running the stall. This was good for him too. If there was a downpour, it wouldn’t be suitable for setting up the stall, and he certainly couldn’t go out in the rain.

"Boss, the ducks have been bought and are being washed," Sun Zhuangfei reported promptly when he saw Jiang Feng arrive with Little Black.

Jiang Feng entered the shop. Sun Zhuangfei had already bought around forty ducks and was cleaning them one by one, then marinating them inside and out and stuffing them with scallions, ginger, and other ingredients. Next, he used an air pump to inflate the ducks until they were plump, then scalded their skin with boiling water.

When Jiang Feng came in, he joined in the work. For Jiang Feng, this was part of the culinary process. However, with so many ducks, he couldn’t handle them all alone and needed Sun Zhuangfei’s help.

Thanks to the previous day’s preparations, their efficiency had noticeably improved today. Their pace of preparing the ducks was quicker.

Once inside the shop, Jiang Feng discovered that Sun Zhuangfei had already marinated more than twenty ducks, all hanging on racks.

"Wow, you’ve been really diligent! When did you do all this?" Jiang Feng exclaimed admiringly.

"The ducks from the early market are good and fresh. I picked a stall and bought from them; they’re all quite nice," Sun Zhuangfei responded.

Sun Zhuangfei hadn’t finished junior high school. After taking a break at home, he started apprenticing as a chef. His culinary talent wasn’t exceptional, but he made up for it with diligence. Therefore, he was also skilled at selecting ingredients.

"That’s great. The title of ’Duck King’ would suit you better," Jiang Feng joked.

Sun Zhuangfei, however, took it seriously and quickly waved his hands, saying, "Boss, don’t say that! You’re the Duck King; how could I dare compete with you?"

Hearing this, Jiang Feng shook his head and sighed, "Alright, let’s focus on the ducks."

The two got busy.

Jiang Feng moved to the stove to start preparing the sweet bean sauce. There wasn’t much left from yesterday’s batch, so he needed to make more. He also had to prepare the crisping glaze, which was brushed onto the ducks before roasting to give them a shiny, red, and crispy skin.

Amidst the hustle and bustle, each duck underwent a magnificent transformation, emerging as a beautifully roasted masterpiece.

「By 4:30 in the afternoon, the two set off in the truck towards the university town square.」

They arrived a little after five. If they waited a short while, the university students would start to come out.

There were fourteen universities in the vicinity of the university town. By this time, many students knew Jiang Feng was setting up his stall there.

When classes ended, a large stream of university students flowed out, forming a sizable crowd. Some universities had restrictions preventing students from leaving campus from Monday to Friday, but many others didn’t, allowing their students to go out freely after classes.

The security guards at the gate stood up straight when they saw the students pouring out. Wait, what’s happening? Why are they all rushing out? Is there a zombie outbreak on campus?

Meanwhile, Sun Lijun and all his dorm mates came out to join the excitement. His three friends even stopped playing their video games.

On the way, they found it amusing to see everyone around them smiling.

"No way! Are all these people here for roast duck?"

"That must be it!"

"This is way livelier than being on campus."

"Everyone’s so bored; there’s nothing going on at school."

"Let’s hurry! If we don’t go now, we’ll miss out."

They all started jogging. The scene was quite a spectacle.

If viewed from above, one would see streams of students emerging from the surrounding universities, all converging on the square in successive waves.

University students had an excellent grapevine; news of any local excitement spread like wildfire. Of course, the crowd wasn’t as massive as for a celebrity fan meeting, but in total, there were about four to five hundred people.

Besides the spectacle, there was delicious roast duck to be eaten, so naturally, the crowd was even more enthusiastic.

Jiang Feng was leisurely attending to business.

Before long, he saw several university students running towards him. They headed straight for Jiang Feng’s food truck and, upon arrival, immediately said, "Boss Jiang, we’d like two roast duck sets for two!"

Jiang Feng replied, "Alright, coming right up."

Jiang Feng took out a glistening, perfectly roasted duck, picked up his long knife, and deftly began to slice the meat. His movements were as composed as ever. The knife in his hands seemed to have a life of its own. With each cut, he easily sliced off a piece of duck meat.

The first students to arrive watched Jiang Feng’s carving skills intently. They couldn’t quite say why, but watching him was incredibly relaxing.

Moreover, they felt this elevated the value of the roast duck. In a restaurant, when a chef comes to carve the duck at your table, the meal would cost at least several hundred yuan. Now they could enjoy such a treat from a street stall; naturally, the customers were delighted.

Jiang Feng had only served seven or eight customers when his stall was surrounded by students. He picked up the loudspeaker and shouted, "Please line up in an orderly manner. Thank you for your support!"

The university students were quite orderly, and a winding queue quickly formed.

Sun Lijun and his friends quickly joined the line as well.

"Wow, look at this crowd!" one of them exclaimed, looking at the long, winding queue with excitement. It was indeed bustling.

"Boss Jiang, we came especially for you! Please save a portion of roast duck for us," someone cheered.

"I’ll try my best; it depends on the situation," Jiang Feng responded.

With so many university students gathered, someone was bound to try and liven things up. And Jiang Feng, in his usual style, could always engage with any topic.

At that moment, an outgoing female university student looked at Jiang Feng and called out, "Boss Jiang, I have a question for you!"

Jiang Feng continued slicing duck meat while calmly responding, "Go ahead."

University students always enjoyed a bit of playful banter or a good prank. This female student had recently been asked this riddle and had found it hilarious. Now, seeing Jiang Feng, she decided to try it on him.

"Boss Jiang, why can’t a sheep sleep after it’s been shorn?" the female student asked, pressing for an answer.

Many people were listening to the question while aiming their phones at Jiang Feng to record his reaction. Such videos, when posted online, were bound to be very popular.

Sun Zhuangfei, standing nearby, heard the question and immediately began to rack his brains, but he couldn’t figure it out.

Jiang Feng, however, knew the answer and replied nonchalantly, "A sheep can’t sleep after being shorn? That’s because it lost its wool."

Upon hearing this, everyone had an epiphany and burst into laughter immediately. Wow, not bad at all! This boss is really something. He’s not just a good cook; he’s quick-witted too!

Sun Zhuangfei was all the more astonished. Where on earth does the boss learn such weird and wonderful things?

After Jiang Feng had finished slicing a duck, he looked at the university students gathered around. He smiled and said, "Enough with the dad jokes; they’re giving me the chills!"

The crowd laughed even harder. Waiting in line for roast duck was certainly more fun with some entertainment.

After that, Jiang Feng addressed the students, "Alright, the Q&A session is over. Let’s stick to buying roast duck. No more questions."

Seeing his expression, the university students roared with laughter. Jiang Feng had a great personality. He could chat with anyone and keep things lively, never letting the conversation stall. After all, this was part of doing business, which was perfectly normal.

Many people were taking photos from the sidelines; some were even taking selfies that included Jiang Feng. The atmosphere was very lively.

The square was filled with university students.

As some passersby crossed the square, they were puzzled by the sea of people. What’s going on today? Where did all these people suddenly appear from? Are the university students holding some kind of event? But they wouldn’t hold it here!

Overcome with curiosity, one passerby approached a student to ask why so many people had gathered. When he heard it was for roast duck, he was even more bewildered.

"Roast duck? All these people are lining up for roast duck? What? Is the roast duck really that delicious?" he couldn’t help but ask.

A student enthusiastically replied, "It’s incredibly delicious, all freshly made and sliced on the spot! You can’t get it like this anywhere else! Plus, Boss Jiang, the Duck King who sells it, is a master chef! Where else can you eat something made by a master chef for only thirty to fifty yuan?"

Hearing this, the passerby nodded. That makes sense. In that case, I’ll get in line too and try this duck!
