Cooking System: Street Food Rules
Chapter 33: The New Street Vendor Location
CHAPTER 33: CHAPTER 33: THE NEW STREET VENDOR LOCATION
The tall and imposing security guard strode toward Jiang Feng.
As it was late summer transitioning to early autumn, the weather had turned a bit chilly. The security guard wore a black overcoat, giving him the vibe of a "personal bodyguard."
Jiang Feng thought the security guard had come to exchange pleasantries.
The security guard extended his hand, gesturing for Jiang Feng to move back, and said, "Sir, back up. You can’t set up a stall here."
Hearing this, Jiang Feng rolled down the car window and replied, "I’m a homeowner here, Villa No. 8. I’m going home."
This security guard was named Zhao Erhu and had just started his shift.
In Longxi Elegant Garden, security guards worked two-hour shifts and rotated frequently. The previous guard had already gone off duty to rest.
Hearing Jiang Feng’s words, Zhao Erhu raised an eyebrow. He didn’t entirely doubt him, but looking at the food truck, it struck him as preposterous.
What kind of wealthy person would drive a food truck home? This must be an excuse to set up a stall inside, right?
It wasn’t unusual for the security guard to have doubts. Outside many residential areas, there were numerous street vendors. After all, there’s a high demand among residents for street food, which makes it a good business. However, setting up stalls inside the community was strictly forbidden, as street vendors could easily dirty the grounds and ruin the environment.
"Sir, I haven’t been notified about a food truck coming in," Zhao Erhu said responsibly.
"Wait, let me make a call." Jiang Feng took out his phone and dialed Zheng Fei, the property manager.
"Alright, but please move to the side for now so you don’t block the entrance," Zhao Erhu said, extending his hand in a "please" gesture, indicating for Jiang Feng to move aside.
Jiang Feng promptly drove the food truck to the side.
Before long, Zheng Fei, the property manager, came rushing out from the community.
Zhao Erhu returned to his post. Seeing Zheng Fei appear, he was startled. Zheng Fei’s presence confirmed that Jiang Feng was indeed a homeowner!
A homeowner in Longxi Elegant Garden who drives a food truck? Could it really be this unbelievable?
Other homeowners drove Mercedes-Benz or BMW; the less affluent at least had an Audi A6. But Jiang Feng? He simply drove a food truck minibus. And he was one of the distinguished villa area homeowners!
The community had only eighteen villas to begin with, and with two still unsold, there were currently only sixteen prestigious villa homeowners. The rest of the housing consisted of six small, twelve-story buildings, with two apartments per floor, totaling 144 units.
Zheng Fei jogged up to Jiang Feng’s food truck and explained, "Mr. Jiang, I’m sorry. The guard didn’t recognize you, and there was a misunderstanding. It’s mainly because vehicles entering and exiting the main gate are registered in advance. Non-villa area homeowners can’t drive in, which is why the guard stopped you."
Jiang Feng didn’t mind. "It’s okay, this is normal. The guard is quite responsible. I think that’s good."
Zhao Erhu also approached Jiang Feng’s food truck. "Mr. Jiang, I’m really sorry. I couldn’t confirm your identity just now."
"It’s fine, let’s not dwell on it. Just let me in," Jiang Feng replied calmly.
"Yes!"
Zhao Erhu pressed the remote in his hand, and the gates of Longxi Elegant Garden slowly opened.
Jiang Feng drove the food truck directly into the community.
As he passed through the gate, Zhao Erhu snapped to attention and saluted the food truck. This was standard courtesy from the community security guards.
At that moment, a few pedestrians passing by happened to witness this scene. They were utterly stunned.
"Oh my god, did you see that? I saw the guard in that community salute a food truck! Am I going crazy, or is the world crazy?"
"I saw it too! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!"
"Is that food truck owner a resident there? What could he possibly sell to afford a house in that place?"
"Damn, is running a stall that profitable? That’s ridiculous!"
"I remember only cars from the villa area can drive in there. This is because the villa area has above-ground garages, while residents of the apartment buildings can only park in the underground garage."
The passersby chattered among themselves.
The world is indeed magical.
Jiang Feng drove the food truck to his small villa. He pressed the button on his key fob, and the garage door slowly lifted. The garage was spacious, with enough room to park three cars side by side.
Currently, only the food truck was parked there. Jiang Feng planned to buy another car the next day, as he needed a vehicle for daily transportation.
Then, he quickly tidied up a bit and went back to the villa with his dog, Little Black. The movers had also arrived, and Jiang Feng began the tedious task of unpacking. Moving was indeed a hassle.
「Meanwhile.」
The security team leader was sending a message in the Longxi Elegant Garden security group chat regarding the owner of Villa No. 8. The captain sent a photo of Jiang Feng and a photo of the food truck to each security guard.
"@everyone."
"This is the new owner of Villa No. 8, and this is his vehicle."
"Make sure you all recognize him and it. Don’t make this mistake again."
The security team leader posted in the group chat.
Seeing the message, the security guards were all momentarily stunned. The photo of the owner was accurate: he was young and handsome, looking like a typical rich second-generation heir. But this vehicle... wasn’t it a bit too unconventional?
A food truck minibus?
One security guard asked, "Captain, are you sure it’s this vehicle? A food truck?"
Seeing his question, everyone couldn’t help but chuckle. They thought the team leader had mistakenly sent the wrong photo and found the situation rather amusing.
But in the next second, their smiles froze.
Security Team Leader: "Yes, it’s this food truck."
"Villa area owners can drive their vehicles along a dedicated lane to the villa area."
"The vehicle of the owner of Villa No. 8 is indeed this food truck."
The security guards were dumbfounded!
It really was a food truck?
What the hell! That’s outrageous!
That evening, Jiang Feng was in the villa’s kitchen, organizing utensils. The kitchen was spacious and fully equipped with all sorts of cooking appliances, including an oven. For him, it was the perfect place to truly showcase his culinary skills.
Little Black ran back and forth in the living room. The little fellow was still oblivious to the opulence of the home it had been adopted into. Nor did it realize that a life of nothing but splendor and comfort awaited it.
The next day, Jiang Feng went out and bought an SUV, a Mercedes GLE450, costing around one million yuan. After getting the license plates, he drove it back. Once he registered it with the property management office, he could park it in his own garage.
The garage now housed a food truck and a Mercedes: one for work, the other for life.
Jiang Feng then took another day off, feeling somewhat expectant about the system’s next mission.
At 6 p.m., the system’s mission arrived on schedule:
[Mission initiated: Set up a stall on Fengqi Mountain for 7 consecutive days, selling 100 breakfasts each day.]
[Mission Reward: A gold skillet]
[Gold Skillet: 24K pure gold, weighing 5 kilograms.]
[Recipes acquired: Egg Fried Rice, Secret Recipe Meat Buns, Wontons, Steamed Egg Custard, Pumpkin Corn Porridge, Tea-Leaf Eggs]
[Skill acquired: Expert Bun Making Skill]
[Accept the mission?]
[Note: Only breakfasts purchased by new customers will count toward the mission quota. The system prioritizes new customers’ satisfaction with the food.]
Seeing the system’s mission, Jiang Feng was slightly taken aback.
The reward is actually gold this time.
Gold is currently priced at 480 yuan per gram. Half a kilogram (500 grams) would thus be worth 240,000 yuan, and five kilograms would be worth 2.4 million yuan.
Gold is so vulgar. I must thoroughly critique such a vulgar item. I accept this mission! he thought.
However, the mission location was Fengqi Mountain. Fengqi Mountain was in the outskirts, a natural scenic area. He recalled that Fengqi Mountain was considered a place of excellent feng shui. One of its peaks housed a temple with a group of monks, while another peak was home to a Taoist Temple with a few Taoists.
Selling breakfast on Fengqi Mountain? Apart from tourists, who would I sell to? To the monks and Taoists, or to the mountain folk living nearby?
Wow, this mission is a bit outrageous.
Could it really be that I’ll be doing business with monks and Taoists?
And most of the food is meat-based. Can monks even eat meat nowadays?
Jiang Feng picked up his phone and typed the question into Baidu:
[Can monks eat meat nowadays?]
Answers quickly popped up.
"Currently, monks are generally not allowed to eat meat, but there might be some practitioners who do not strictly adhere to the precepts and eat meat secretly."
Seeing this, Jiang Feng closed his phone.
He planned to prepare the ingredients and cooking equipment the next day, process everything in advance, and then head to Fengqi Mountain to scout the location. There were some mountain residents at the foot of the mountain. Finding a spot to set up his stall shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
